Logo for Caribbean Island Travel guide (US$100)

I came across this site by accident and have not been able to leave.
The work displayed is top notch and I have been stunned by the variety and quality shown, which is better than most design companies I know.

It has made me realise that I also need a logo designed for my small company, Grenada Explorer. We are a small web based company and we are trying to promote our small island.
Our goal is that future visitors to our island can plan their entire vacation with our guide before they even come to the island.


The Logo
It must be 'Caribbean' in style, with tropical colors.

There is a slogan at the top, but we are open to suggestions for others.

The logo will also be used in the header of the website, signage, letterheads etc, so resolution should be 350dpi and look good in black&white as well as color.

Contestant must also agree to give up all rights to the logo, and it will become the sole property of Grenada Explorer once the competition ends.

My little feedback:

Annia: I am German (moved down here 12 years ago)
Your layout looks good, but I would love to see more colour - The Caribbean islands are fun & colourful and I would love to see that in my logo if possible.

Frank:
Your logo looks great and catchy. Would it be possible to add more fun in it?
If you have any ideas, please don't be afraid to show them :-)

My little input: The Logo - should give you a Caribbean feeling (fun, sun, beach, sand, Calypso and lots of colours).

thanks for making so fast your changes on the logo.

It looks much better, but I would love to see some more bright colours.
Right now the logo reminds me of Tequila :D don't know why, but maybe because of the colours.

I do not fancy the umbrella, or shells - something is missing, not sure yet what.
Maybe more palm trees and a nice blue sea - could you try this.
Think bright Caribbean colours, red, blue ,green, yellow...primary colours...

Your logo looks nice, but I don't fancy the bold black round border - it takes away from the colour and the image. The women in the picture reminds me to much of Hawaii and not the Caribbean. Could you try something totally different?

looks good, could you try a revision with a waterfall blended in with the sea and sun, instead of the dolfin, and with the full name on one line (GrenadaExplorer) and in maybe Red, Yellow?

All the examples are excellent. However, I noticed that most Caribbean logos have the following elements in their designs (sun, sea, palm tree). I would like to have my logo stand out more (be remembered) and therefore am looking for something very original, but still want these three elements in it.

thank you for taking part in the contest. Your designs are different & nice :D but I still miss somehow the Caribbean feeling in it. The first logo looks more like a sailing charter company and the second one is unusual (which is great), but I can't see the Caribbean in there.

looks much better, but you still have the big bold black border - please try to leave the black out. Can you try to blur and fade the colourful image and try a nice (elegant) font next to the image. I attached a sample of what I mean - but of course better :lol: this is just to show you - since my english is not perfect :-)
It would be great if you can make the image even a little bit bigger and may be add a waterfall?

I like that you tried something different and I would love to see if you could include a waterfall instead of the mountain and please try not shape the whole image in a circle.

The image could be fade/blured (correct spelling?) like my example before. Plus could you try a more elegant Font.

great revision, but you still using to much black and dark colours :D
I like the first one, which has no shape and is fading out.
Would you mind to change your first layout without using the dark colours and make the waterfall more to standout?

Hi everyone.
it has been tough choosiing between the wonderful designs submitted for my contest. The designs are varied and all of excellent quality.
To make it a little easier, I have narrowed my choices down to the two which were submitted by Gilles and Frank (Beatz), and will choose between these two for the winner.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has submitted a design.

Gilles...can I see a darker blue in the name..similar to the rays of the sun, but slightly brighter.

Frank...Please take out the dolfin and add something else (a waterfall). Also, could you try a red yellow blend for the text?

Hi Frank,

I just had an idea - do you think you will be able to add a nutmeg in the design?


Grenada is so different then most of the other islands - you will find here rainforest, waterfalls, beaches and lots of spices- especialy nutmegs - we are the second largest nutmeg exporter in the world.

Just wondering if we could add this somehow in the logo. I love how both logos turned out - just trying to add more spice

The nutmeg looks kind of out of place - could you maybe try to emboth it like the sun & the palm tree and make the nutmeg maybe a bit smaller. If you have any other idea please go ahead.

:tup: WOW - This has been the hardest decision we have had to make recently.
Both logos are better than any we could have gotten from dedicated graphics design companies here.
After much agonizing we have decided to award the contract to ..........both of you. :(
Yep, it may mean that we will be going on a diet for the next month or so, but it can't be helped.
WE WILL TAKE BOTH LOGOS!

We will need a few revisions and will discuss it in the revision forum with you both.
By the way...would it be possible to get the original files in psd format??
