Background

TicketLeap.com (http://www.ticketleap.com) is an online ticketing solutions provider which offers a fully integrated web-based system for the sale of tickets on the Internet to small and medium-sized venues.

Details

We need a stationary design to match our web identity. The final format needs to be Illustrator in an editable format which allows us to change the information.

The letterhead should be standard 8 1/2 x 11 and the envelopes should be Size 10 - 4 1/8 x 9 1/2 business size.

We are open to many designs, but we would like to see the design elements from our website integrated into our design as much as possible, however, feel free to experiment!!!

The letterhead & business cards should include our tagline "event ticketing solutions", and of course all designs should include our logo.

Business card information should include the following:
Persons Name
Position
Address
City, State, Zip
Phone
Fax
email
URL

Letterhead Should Include:
Address
City, State, Zip
Phone
Fax
URL

Envelopes Should Include
Address
City, State, Zip

For this template design, please use my information.

I guess I'll kick this one off. I went with a nice clean design utilizing two shades of green like your website. Added the artwork I created for the magazine ad to bring a little flavor to the pieces as well as tie it all together. I think its has a nice effect and yet is subtle enough to not distract from critical information.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this design.

Thanks,

Josh

What are your design requirements? Are you open to full-color/full bleed designs or are you hoping to stay with 1 or 2 colors ?

Hello, Chris!

I've edited your post: the real phone numbers are changed for placeholders, and the "at" sign is removed from the e-mail address to protect from the Spiders.

Cheers! ;)

Josh, could you, please, resubmit your entry without the original phone numbers? Thanks ;)

I actually changed the email address when I posted it the first time. Thanks for the heads up though!

To answer the questions, it can be a full color card if you would like. I'm really open to the design and would like to see your ideas. If you feel that you can get our image across in just a few colors, that is fine too.

Josh, can you repost the image? I'd love to see your design.

Thanks,
Chris

Alexander,

I think we should push this deadline back a few days. Can you add 3 more days to this? Also, do you think the prize money isn't enough?

Chris,

I reposted the original design. Sorry for my delay, was needing a couple days off.

Here is a different variation of the first design, that plays off the webpage layout a bit more. Let me know what you like or hate about it and I can work up some revisions for you :)

I will also throw together a full color design for all these if you like.

I know today is the posted deadline but if you can extend it for a few days I can have some entries for you.

I'm extending this deadline for 3 more days. The new deadline is 02/11/04.

Elemeno^P - Thanks for submitting your designs. I like the general layout and the balance of the text, however, I am not really into the whole thing with the people standing there. That looked very good in our magazine ad, but I think we should avoid those types of elements. Additionally, you need to incorporate our tagline "event ticketing solutions" which appears on our website. For some reason, the fonts don't seem right. Perhaps it is because they are different from what we are using online. On the website we use 90% Verdana. Our tagline text is written in ITC Officina Sans Bold. Please try adjusting some of these things. Again, I think the balance of the text is good.

ElKootcho - Please put in a design. There are 3 more days now.

Thanks everyone!!!

Thanks for the submissions!!! Sorry to ask for so many changes, but I really want smoething perfect since we will be spending a lot of money on printing. :)

Elemeno^P - I like the revision and the reuse of our frog. I also really love the vertical business card style...that is slick and different from what I normally see. I think if you used some of the different shades of green and maybe even the orange that we use on our website, it would help break up the different sections of text. Can you please use the same exact colors we use?</li> Can you write our tagline using ITC Officina Sans Bold?? Also, I think it is way too big on the letterhead.</li> One more thought, having the green extend completely accross our envelopes may be problematic with stamps etc...</li>
Graphxguy - Thanks for the design. It's a good start!! I'm glad you tried to use our orange color, however, I think it overpowers our image a bit. </li> I like the way the curves look, but I think it may be a bit too far away from our image.</li> Try using the same shades of color that we use on our website.</li>
I appreciate the hard work....I think its getting close!

I'll have revisions soon. Thanks for your feedback.

One thing about the colors. Well, actually a few things.

Your website is using RGB color values. And to print you will more than likely be using PMS spot colors. We as designers can take a screen cap of your site, open it up in Photoshop or Paintshop, and sample the colors and see what the actual CMYK conversion would be. But then that's only useful if you're going to print in 4 color process, not PMS spots. And printing with spot colors will definitely be the most economical way to go.

If you had specific PMS colors you would like us to use, that would be great. But if you don't, the only other option I can see is for us to hold up a PMS book to the screen and try to match the site colors to appropriate PMS colors. But then because our monitor settings aren't universal, it's still not going to be accurate.

My suggestion would be for all of us to use colors that are relatively close and then when you go to the printer, you can determine what would be the best choices for the PMS matches.

Fellow Designers:
Any other ideas on how we can work around this? This is definitely an area that we want to make sure our client is satisfied with.

Thanks.

There really is no way around it. I normally recommend to remote clients that they verify color via the printers swatch book before going final. If it's being printed by an online printer, spend a couple bucks down at your local Kinko's to get a decent color laser and ask to see the PMS book, if they have one. On screen is very difficult to use for color selection.

This information is clearly out of my league. What I suggest doing is to take the CMYK values on our website. We can deal with any tweaks that will need to be made to the colors at a later time.

Here is a Gif file with our colors.

Thanks,
Chris

BTW - As far as the envelope design is concerned: will that be full color with bleeds as well or do you prefer to keep it 1 or 2 spot colors? There is often a hefty price difference so you may want to investigate your options.

Usually 1 - 2 color designs print on pre-made envelopes so there is no bleed area available. Full color with bleed designs are normally printed flat and then cut, folded and glued. A longer, more expensive process.

Chris,
Here are my revisions. I minimized the orange and sampled the colors from your attached gif file. Also, I took a more linear approach to match your site.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

Thanks.

I'm glad you gave me this piece of advise. Knowing what you just told me, I would opt for the 1-2 color envelope design.

I know business cards can be full bleed/full color. Do you know what the deal is on letterhead? I would guess full color is ok, but any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for the new submissions and updates! There are some really nice designs here. it is going to be a really really tough call!

jonmulk - I think your design is interesting. It is quite different. On the envelope, the address information should be on the the top left. I know it is standard, but I think it is best to stick with that.</li> The business card doesn't seem to be the same size as a standard card. Can you check the dimensions?</li> Can you remove the cutouts that are below the letters G and P on the letterhead and business cards? I think this detracts from the general flow of the design.</li>ElKootcho - I really love your design!! I would like to see one more with out the peach color. Perhaps you could use another shade of the green we use. </li> Can you move our address to the top left of the envelope?</li>graphxguy - Thanks for the revision. I like this new design a lot better! Can you try to reduce the size of the green and orange elements? I think they are a bit too bulky.</li>
Thanks again everyone!!! Sorry for asking for so many changes, but this is extremely important to us, so we need a design that really reflects our company. I think you all have great ideas!

Best regards,
Chris

p.s. - Elemeno^P...are you making any more revisions??

Hi Chris,

I made that color change as requested along with a darker green. Please note: the letterhead and business card are currently built using 2 PMS inks nad the envelope is using 1 PMS ink. These of course can be changed to CMYK based on your printers specs.

Here are my revisions. Everything is set up as 3 spot colors. I didn't include the landscape business card, because you had seemed to like the portrait better. If you would like to see the other style, I would be more then happy to get the posted for you.

The envelope is a 3 color design with bleeds. If you choose my design, I will adjust it to your printers specifications. My pressmen have never had an issue producing bleeds on straight out the box envelopes, for no extra charge, so I left them in there as an option you might want to explore.

BTW - (and this goes for every entry) before printing envelopes it's always a good idea to take a sample to your local post office to make sure it meets current postal regulations.

That's good news - I was worried because my envelope had bleeds.

Chris - if you could find out whether or not it's possible to have bleeds printed on envelopes, it'd be very helpful; I'll then make the amendments to my design.

Cheers,

Jon

This is very much a printer by printer issue. Some have the right equipment, some don't. It only matters what your printer can do.
