I'm a youth pastor and I send a birthday card to every student in my church (c. 300 cards). It's been crazy keeping up with it. But it's time to get serious and custom make my own cards with my logo. Here's my idea - I'd like to make my current logo into a birthday cake with candles or something and make a custom birthday card. Feel free to manipulate the logo anyway that will help creatively communicate the following:
The front should communicate: "Wishing you a [412] Birthday!"
The inside should say something like: "From your friends at [412] Student Ministry."
Bottom inside tage line text as follows: ""Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12"
You will need my logo to start with:
<img src='http://www.412student.com/images/412_logo.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I will need this print ready, thanks.
or you can donwload this Photoshop file if it helps you:

What would you like the dimensions of the card to be? And are there any color limitations, specifically the number of?
Thanks.

Thanks Stephen,
I've been using something that is 4.25"h X 5.5"w
2 color would suffice but if that holds you back, for more!

I've never designed anything for print so this is my first. The file is 300dpi so it will be print ready. I am not sure how many colors there are. Maybe one of the designers who specialize in print material can help figure that out. Hope you like it

I didn't want to leave you hanging so I figured I'd post what I have as of now. I know it's not very festive (the cake I designed turned out looking like a canister  ). If you like the basic design I'll see what else I can add to it.

Thanks all. I know this is a charity forum so I can't be too picky, so in light of that here is some feedback in reverse order:
1) Blackspot - thank you but I was looking for something a little more creative and something I couldn't do on my own which what you showed me is what I'm doing now with cards I buy from office depot and run through my inkjet.
2) Palmer - the only difficulty with this one is that I send the same card to every student on my list and most are not skaters and my girls probably wouldn't dig the skater theme. I've got some really good looks in my stationary contest under the miscellaneous forum that I realize now separating these two contests may not have been a good idea becuase they probably need to be done by the same person - so I'll try to point those guys to this contest as well so both have a consistant look (anyone here is welcome to give that one a try as well) It was for way more $$
3) Bethie - not really the cake look I had in mind. I had this look that the logo could be the cake with candles coming out of it - but I didn't mean a real literal interpretation, more abstract.
Sorry for the delay, it's mad busy right now.
With much appreciation,
David

Okay, here's my stab at it.
I tried to design something that would fit well with my LH/BC design in your other contest, so as to make a more complete package.
I couldn't get the logo to look like a very good cake so I put candles in by themselves instead.
I also left some white space on the inside for a personal note from you.
Let me know what you think. I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Thanks.

Steve -I like the white space for a personal note the best :D

Couple of thoughts:
INSIDE:
I think we should drop the logo at the end of "from your friends at" and just use text to read: "from your friends at fourtwelve student ministry" or just "from your friends at fourtwelve" which might fit better. I like the larger greyscale as a watermark like you have it.
OUTSIDE:
The front really needs some work. I'm torn because xjeria's really looks like a birthday card and yours really matches the stationary. This front needs to look like a birthday card more and still be match the stationary.
So, I think we should drop "wishing you a 412 birthday" even though that's what I thought I wanted. Something more like "Happy Birthday" will do. Or "Wishing you the best birthday ever" or "Four hundred and twelve reasons to have a happy birthday" - it's getting late, I'm sleepy.
Also, I like the candles look but it looks funny just plopped on top of the street pic and the text above that. Now if we stay with the candles I think it would be a nice subtle feature to have four candles//1 candle//2 candles// to subliminably say 412 in the candles. If that makes no sense, then it would look like this: iiii I ii instead of how it looks now: ii iii
Maybe the road pic goes on the inside bottom with the verse inside it, instead of the front since it really has nothing to do with a birthday so as also not to clash with the candle pic.
Heck, that's why I've got you guys figuring this stuff out - by now you all figured out I'm no designer. Thanks a ton to all of you who are doing your best to make this happen!!!!!!
Sincerley,
David
