PART 2 FOR MOJO SURFBOARDS - 1 cool, edgy, FUN, Tikihead logo needed.
Need this one by 11:00pm EST on Monday so it will be a short contest!
This will be a mass marketed product that will need to appeal to both kids and adults so it needs to be cool and a little edgy w/out going over the top.
That's about it - GOOD LUCK! :box:

Surfer,
To clarify, do you want a Tiki Head or a Tiki Character? Just checking so I know what to post next...
Thanks,

OK - we've got some very cool tiki's here! Sorry, I've been delayed in responding w/feedback -let's extend this until Tuesday. I'm going "under the knife" on Tuesday for some eye surgury so I hope to pick one out before then -while I can still see (enough whining )! I should have at least one good eye to pick a winner anyway :pirate:
DBENTON25 and MUTE DESIGN are stll in the lead...
Here's just a couple final conceptual ideas that perhaps can be incorporated in a final revison or two - I should have detailed more up front but you guys are moving in the right direction:
1) The overall concept for "MOJO" Surfboards is to be a FUN, COOL surfboard for beginners to learn how to surf. Thus, I would like the Tiki to be more of a SMILING Tiki Head if possible. DBENTON25 and CBAKER14 - tikis may be a little too scary - can we lighten them up a bit? Our goal is to make learning to surf a Fun, Non Intimidating experience. I would like it if the head has more of a smile than a frown - still cool but not too scary.
2) We need the word "MOJO" on the back but not "Softboards." MUTE's previous logo on the front of the board will say "MOJO Softboards"
I would like to see the font in a similar Bamboo style font as Voodoo Tiki Tequila (I love this website!).
http://www.voodootiki.com/voodoo.html
Another idea for the fun Tiki head if anyone want to try one more guy would be something like the guys in this website...
http://www.voodootikitequila.com/main.html
Here's one other guy I like...
It's DBENTON25 and MUTE duking it out as "KING OF THE SURFBOARD DESIGNERS" :palmer: as we approach the 12th ROUND... :box:

:D Nice job, Anthony. Could we play around w/the colors and the background just a tad - instead of the purple grass skirt, let's make it bright GREEN, add some Bright red or BLUE to the face, and make the MOjo font on the shield REd so it stands out a bit.
BACKGROUND - Could we do something other than the sun in the background since we'll already have it on the front of the board? We can keep the background simple (I like a round background - maybe some tribal designs and a tiki torch in the circle). You're a creative genious so I'm sure you can figure something out! :notworthy:
Hope to finalize today :help: !

I think the attached YELLOW background style would be PERFECT (maybe add a tiki torch). Mark Beaudry put this one together for the Voodoo contest - I love the style used in the colors for the background. Don't see why we can't just use that since I own the logo. We'll just replace the Voodooman w/ Tikiman!

Wow, Tikiman is really taking shape. I think we're about 85% there. I just want to play around w/a few things. Here's what we need:
1) My partner is still concerned w/the shield - he think it looks too much like a shovel. I think there are 2 solutions: a) Change the direction of the shield so it is parallel w/ the Tiki head - the word MOJO should be bigger and run down the length of the shield vertically B) replace the shovel w/ a tiki torch (I wish there was a way to incorporate a tiki torch into the logo somehow!)
2) Background - I want to include the exact Tribal designs from the yellow Voodoo logo inside the logo (or around the perimeter of the logo).
3) Let's use a simple tribal pattern around the perimeter of the logo to give it more charavter.
4) Let's give him one of those "tooth" necklaces all good Tiki warriers have!
5) Colors - Let's experiment w/some other color combinations - I think the green skirt might look better in a bright blue. Maybe some bright color around the eyes too.
We're pretty close - the 1st production run is for 500 boards so I need to get it spot on!
Thanks.

Hey Mute, nice design! :D But did you actually draw the tiki guy or was it supplied by some vector library? It's just that a few things have made me curious on this point.

ChristianS - I really like your design and think it has potential for future models. I don't know if it's w/in the rules but I would like to see it w/a larger "Mojo" font, smaller teeth on the Tiki guy, and maybe a brighter green. Cool design - maybe you can post it on the revisions forum - might want to buy it for future use.
MUTE - He's a winner and we're about 90% from a finished product. Would really like to have it completely done by tomorrow. Final observations..
1) Colors - blue looks too purple so let's try some different combos:
a) Green Face w/ yellow eyes
B) Red Hula skirt
c) Mojo placed Vertically down shield in a slighty larger red font.
d) white tooth necklace that looks like the one in the attached picture by Liz.
2) Background- Love how you recreated the tribal designs.
Please make these final changes.
a) the black outer edges make this design too busy so let's get rid of it completely and redo - see (d).
B) extend the yellow background out a bit and and bring in the tribal designs a little bit so they are within the yellow circle but not so close to the tiki that it makes it look jumbled.
c) please use the identical shading/color/texture used in the yellow voodoo design.
d) finally, let's try a simple outer border with 2 thin black circles around the edges of the yellow logo and a simple round (no crest) "wave" pattern w/in the two circles.
Hope that's a wrap.
Thanks,
Surferdude

Anthony,
This Tiki warrier is driving me insane. It's close but it's missing something. The colors are a challenge. Let's try a few final changes - I have to get done TODAY!
1 Go back to the colors from your post Feb 23 2004, 03:14 PM for the face (bright red) and body except give him "Blue" Eyes and make the hula skirt brown (tan). I like the brigt colors for the head and a more neutral body.
2) The letters for the Mojo name should be postioned on the shield like so
M
O
J
O
Try the letters each in a different bright color to see if it stands out more (what are the reggae colors? Bright red orange, yelow, and green)
3) Lastly, we need to add something to the background. THe yellow looks so bland. Let's try a blue background as well as an orange background. Is there room for a Tiki torch? I REALLY WANT A TEXTURED LOOK (weathered) LOOk TO THE BACKGROUND LIKE IN THE VOODOO LOGO - SOLID YELLOW AIN'T GONNA CUT IT. I want a more tropical background (I do like the tribal symbols so keep them).
IT's Close but Doesn't quit capture the imagination yet. Please work some 11th HOUR MAGIC!" :help: :help: :help: WE MUST FINALIZE TODAY!
THANKS,

We'll get it in the next revision I think - colors are not right yet but I think I finally figured it out...
!) The colored "Mojo" on the shield did not work (positoning is good though)- just make all the letters BRIGHT RED so they stand out.
2) the new background is too dark. Let's do two final versions, one with the textured lighter yellow and one with a textured light blue. He definitely pops out better w/the lighter background.
3 Keep the whole head/mask color combination exactly like your post on Feb 23 2004, 03:14 PM. Just add the cool yellow/red eyes from the post on Feb 25 2004, 11:44 PM.
4) Use the tan hula skirt from your 1st post on Feb 20 2004, 09:13 AM. The neutral color will make the Tiki head pop out more.
FINALLY, Is there anything you can stick in the background like a palm tree, tiki torch or even just position the spear so you can see the whole spear (there is a bare area near his head that needs something).
I anticipate the next one (2 background choices) will be the keeper.
Thanks,
