Hello all, I am looking for a new logo for my established landscape business. I KNOW, ANOTHER LANDSCAPER!!
I came here because I’ve looked through some of your work and I am extremely excited to see the designs that you come up with for me. I also like the fact that with all the Landscapers you do, most of the designs are unique.
My company’s current name is Advanced Services. However, I am considering changing the name to Advanced Landscape Services to allow people to know the nature of our business. We do all types of landscape, maintenance and snow removal. Since our current name doesn’t reflect these services, the logo needs to.
I would like something that is professional and not to cartoon-like, although if you think you may have something that I should consider, I’ll view it. I’d like it to be clean and more on the modern side, something different, yet recognizable. Our company has grown significantly and now I’d like a catchy logo so people can recognize us without necessarily having to know our name. We currently use green, white and maroon, but again I am replacing my uniforms this year, so I am open to anything and really would like something new.
I will be using this logo for letterhead, business cards, signs, advertisements, envelopes, clothing, sign on truck(s) and for a web-site. I am hoping to get designs in the format that will fit these needs (jpeg, eps and tif). I will need one with our phone number and one without.
The contest deadline is March 19, 2004, unless a winner is picked before that date.
We look forward to seeing your ideas and will be checking the site frequently throughout the day. :help:

I like the second set with the three icons better. I don't think the font gives it that POP but, you are moving in the right direction.
Also, my 1st choice would be to keep our name Advanced Services and just create a logo to portray what we do. However, if we did change it would have to contain the full "Advanced Landscape Services"
Thanks

Ok,
Juvanescence: your design is stylish and modern but it just seems like it needs a little something, maybe the box around it I'm not sure.
Bethie: I like the font but the tree is not really telling everyone what we do.
Chris: I like the font adjustment but I think the "A" needs to be out of the box. I like the 3 season idea but symbols are kind of simple maybe something with a little more jump (maybe its their colors).
Thanks Jeff

Chris
I don't like that many colors, two will be fine. Maybe a hunter green and a maroon, or maybe you can come up with two other colors that will pop, but not look rainbowish. One of the two colors will be incorporated into our uniforms. I do like the first design that we discussed with the icons on the left and the A not in the box. Do you have any other icons that are more modern and sleek. Think sophisticated, modern, sharp looking. See what you can come up with.
Bill
I like the idea of going with the icon look. However, these icons will not work for us. I think that they are to cartoonish for me. Look to the comments above for a better idea of what I want. Again I'd like to keep it simple and classy looking.
Thanks for all the hard work, I think we'll get there eventually. Getting across what I'm looking for is difficult, so hang in there with me. :)

I like this design, it is more along the lines of what I am looking for, it needs something to tie it together and I liked the previously used icons better. I also do not like the burgundy color. See if you can work with these suggestions.
Diane
This is also along the lines of what I am looking for. Could I see it in a different color and can you change the snowflake design to a different snowflake. Looks good, I like the line I think it ties the design together.

I am not liking the icon placement and I need the logo to include landscape, maintenace and snow removal. I keep going back to one of the original designs that you did for me. It was the 2nd design from the March 1st, 10:43 posting. I really like this layout, it just looks a little "woodsy" but I do like the idea. Could you make this design a little more sophisticated and modern. I want it to pop! Thanks
Diane
Thanks for the color suggestions, but I didn't really like them. What I would like to see is these seperate designs:
1. The original brown/black color scheme with the snowflake from the light blue design.
2. The original design with the "swirl" done in the highlighted fashion that you showed in the green design.
3. The original design done with the above two suggestions in burgundy and any other color that you may think of.
Thanks for all of your time.

Changes plus a new logo for your consideration.
VisualSense
03-04-2004, 11:10 AM
The original design and the one posted below are done using an orange and black color. Is it looking like brown? Monitor color calibration might be a problem. You're best bet (when you decide to get printed materials) is to view a Pantone Chart at your print shop. That will allow you to see the "actual" colors that are to be used. Monitor colors are not typically reliable. :)
Anyway, here's the changes... the top 2 are orange and black and the last one is a burgandy and a golden yellow.

Chris: the last one you submitted is nice, let's try to change the orange color on the leaf, make the font wider and add some lines or a circle to bring the whole thing together.
VisualSense
03-08-2004, 12:06 PM
Here's the logo with a few different shovels... I'd originally gone with the small hand shovel because it fit nicely within the circle... as you can see, if I use a larger shovel the handles will hang out of the circle or the shovel will be much smaller than the graphics within the other circles.
The last done is done in the different colors. I also change the color inside the circle because the colors kinda clashed on the gray/burgandy circle.
Let me know what you think..

I like the last one that you submitted. Could you show me how it would look in a business card form. Also, maybe some different fonts. I do like the idea.

I like the concept. I don't like the leaf design, the icons are to large, they over power the name and the colors need to be changed, I'm not that fond of them, but you're heading in the right direction.
Diane
your absolutly right about the shovel. I still really like the burgundy and silver design, but we also like the last design with the icons in the different colors. Could we see this last design with the words in a few different colors? On this design, I don't like the burgundy letters.
I think these designs are great with a little "tweeking" we should be able to pick a winner earlier than the deadline. It's going to be hard to choose. Thanks for the hard work and dedication to helping us.

Wow you guys are doing an excellent job!!! There have been some great ideas. Thank You very much for all your hard work. We are getting there.
Carl: I like the idea of putting all the icons in the circle I just not sure about the style of the icons in there. I like the grass but, the other 3 my need to be changed. I'm not too crazy about the font either...see what you can do but the basic concept is there!
Diane: You are there...you have been great thank you. We like the original burg and silver but the blue middle logo on you last post has peaked our interest also. I know you have playing with colors but could we maybe try a green swoosh and font or something else. Your taste seems to be similar to ours and maybe you could just try something you think looks good....for some reason I still think it lacks something simple to complete that "POP"...see what you can do for us..
OK wife said PS to Diane: notice the quotes :lol2: " I like the green and light brown in the middle logo could we please see the same design in using those two colors. I think we may be able to use those colors in our uniforms." ;)
Thank You

Well, we have seen some very good ideas and I am going to be honest with all of you. Up until we the logos on the truck we were very partial to Diane's logo (either maroon and silver or green and tan). Now that we have seen them on the truck we are leaning towards Carl's latest design.
Diane: could we keep the idea the same and do something else with the logo. Not too much just a little tweak. Not sure what it is but it just isn't jumping out at you from the truck. We really like the words and the swoosh but on the truck the icons get lost.
Carl: There is some thing about the icon in the logo that is not getting us. Seems that maybe the logo looks too "cartoonish". Maybe mix it up a little, change the backround color or even separate the seasons? Just can't put my finger on it.
Chirs: still would like to see your 3/2/04 multi color design on the truck.
Also, could you put your designs on a shirt.

I like your ideas and the second photo on the truck with the lawn, maintenance, etc. in block, but play with the icon placements I feel like they are out in limbo. They either need to be moved or tied together some way. Also, do you have anything new or different than just the icons. Jeff
Landscaper
03-13-2004, 09:57 AM
Diane: Ok we will try to explain two more ways to do this without confusing ourselves and you.....1) your original logo with the four icons was great. We like the double swoosh on the left side. If you could change the grass type, ditch the raindrop and then move the icons to the left (or center of the logo) and add a double swoosh to the right side. 2)on your latest design....ditch the raindrop , change the grass type and add the shovel back in making all the icons the same size. The order should be grass, shovel and snowflake.
I hope this makes sense.
Jeff

OKAY, We really appreciate all of the hard work that all of you have put into this. The designs and the response that we got was fabulous. However, we have shown the designs to several people and we have finally narrowed it down to two designs--The one by Diane and the one by Carl
Diane:
Can we see-
1. The double swoosh in blue and green (green and green or green and tan. I do not like the neon green), with different symbols. Maybe a snowtruck, a tree, etc. Play with the icons. I want something that shows that we are more a commercial business. Although I like the icons, input has told us that it looks to "fufuy" for lack of a better word. (green we like is pms349c)
2. Also, in a second design could you play with the icon placement, and change the shovel icon to a tree.
Finally, we want to see them on the truck.
Carl
The circle in the middle. Could you outline it in black, keeping the interior background grey. Then seperate the inside into three or four sections putting an icon in each section ( like in your earlier designs) I also liked when you had the snowflake and the water droplet falling out of the circle. We liked the icons in different colors again as before, but we didn't like the yellow leaf. The placement of the words, the circle itself and the black line is great keep that as is.
Finally, we want to see it on the truck.
Jeff,
Which of my revisions is my starting point for these changes?
Thanks!

ok, here are the requested changes. Doing an "icon" of a snow plow is proving difficult. Once it's sillouetted it's hard to even tell what it is. I've tried several styles. I've changed the green to 349.

Carl: lets try something other than the black cross to separate these icons.
Diane: Let's put two of the icons on both sides the word services and leave 1 at the top center position. So basically there will be one icon on each side of the two S's in the word services. (Second green logo) and one at the top.
Thanks
Jeff
Jeff,
Here are four other options.
I purposely am limiting the number of colors and not using gradients because you are considering the logo for vehicle graphics. Generally they are done with vinyl and you are limited to spot colors when doing them.
If that limitation doesn't exist, and you are having Full Color decals made for the vehicles, I can explore some more significant changes to the way the 4 icons are seperated.
Thanks!

One last thing. The colors on the grey although reallly nice, they don't pop on the truck. Could you do the same icons, all in white on the green background like the one that was posted on March 16. That circle really stands out on the truck.
Thanks

Hello all:
Sorry that we haven't had a chance to post anything lately, we have been extremely busy. We would like to thank all of you who have posted and revised and revised again. Your ideas and designs were all just wonderful, we had a very difficult time deciding.
However, we have decided on a winner.
We have chosen Carl's design from the post on March 16, design B.
(Carl, we want the March 16 design, but we want it in the green from the last post and we need one with our phone number on it contact us as landscapeguys@comcast.net).
We will be out of town until April 5, so we'll chat then.
Congratulations to Carl and Again thanks to you all.

Hi Carl,
We are back in town and would like to get the logo wrapped up. If you could place our phone number on the winning design and post it (586) 268-0803, we would apprecaite it. I am not sure how this works but we will be putting this on our trucks, trailers, shirts , hat, letterhead, business cards and envelopes. So we will need both the one with and without the phone number. Let me know what you need.
Jeff
Jeff,
I will do both versions. My normal process is to upload a ZIP file to my server which contains .AI, .EPS, .TIFF, .JPG, layerd .PSD, .GIF and .PNG files. I can also burn a CD and drop it in th email to you, if you prefer. Just let me know if you need that.
I will be working on the files and should have them posted this evening.
FYI - all the file formats listed should cover the bases for you for everything that you would need to have printed.

Carl,
I know you are busy and hate to bother you but I was hoping to have the phone number just underneath the logo without the second line and maybe a little larger( not much). If you could do that I would greatly appreciate it. Just let me know when I can upload that revision.
Thanks
Jeff

Carl,
I know you probably are busy but I was hoping you could help us here. Our sign folks as well as our printer have told us that our logo is great (kudos to you for a great job). However, we are having a problem because the logo seems to be "long". What I mean is that when we are trying to place it on the trucks and on business cards we can't get the company name big enough before it exceeds the area which we have to work with. The letters seem to be too small (height) before we run out of room lengthwise. Can we change the font to be bigger but closer together or do something else to solve this problem without messing with a great thing. I hope you can understand what I just explained, and if there is an additional charge to tweak this then please let me know. We just want this to work for us and be noticed from a distance.
Thanks Jeff
Jeff,
I am sorry to hear that you have had these problems.
I will work with you to find a good solution.
I do have to ask, are you using a designer for your business cards, or is your print shop doing the layout?
For your trucks, what is the exact size of the space you have to place the logo? Knowing that will give me a better idea of how to adjust the text for maximum visibility of your logo.
We will get this right for you!
We can work through this forum, or via regular email. It is up to you. If you can PM me your email address again and I will send stuff to you that way.
Let me know.

Carl,
I appreciate your willingness to work with me on this, Thank You. I will try to send you additional business when I can. Thank Again.
The print shop is laying out the business card. As for the truck logos the smallest area we have to work with is 32.5" wide by 13 " high. The others are a little larger at 43" wide by 16" high. When it was setup by my sign guy our name ended up being only two inches high in order to fit it into the area we have. We would like to increase it to 2.5 or even 3.
Let me know what else you need and I will get it to you right away. Because time is important I will check back several times a day. I also think this forum would be the simplist way to get this done if that is ok with you.
Thanks Again
Very Much
Jeff
Jeff,
Here is an updated version. I was able to make the letters in your name 3.44" tall by compressing the text spacing and increasing the height of the letters slightly.
Let me know what you think.
