View Full Version : OEM Alliance Logo Contest - $100
(Admin code added by Palmer - V693733A)
Hi everyone!
I need a logo design for a B2B (business to business) Internet commerce site. It needs to look very professional, as the site will be targeted to our corporate clients, both US and international.
The name of the company is OEM Alliance, and the site will be www.oemalliance.com (nothing there yet).
Prize: $100
Deadline: March 21, 2004
Ideas: We have nothing in mind, except that it has to be professional and look good on the web, business cards, and stationery. A white background is preferred.
Format: We would like to receive the graphics in .psd format.
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to the designs!

what business in particular?
Oops -- sorry. It will be listing mostly tech parts, I.e. circuit boards, computer chips, cell phone parts, etc.

We know have a barebones site up, along with a possible color scheme... you don't have to use these colors in your design.

My vision...
Icon represents:
-3 pieces forming an alliance with open space at top welcoming more.
-3 letters (OEM) hidden within
- in the shape of mouse
Please let me know what you think.

Here's a start...
Thanks for the submissions so far!
I've talked it over with my partners and the feeling that is coming through is that we'd like something that is modern, a bit techie-oriented, but smooth as well so it fits with the site design.
Mowling - Loved your design. The Alliance part is great -- could you show us some different looks for the OEM letters? I like the smooth rounded look to the logo.
blackspot - we also like your design. I don't like the font used for the lettering however.
bethie - Thanks for your submission. We're looking for something more than just the words in our logo -- we need some type of graphic as well
redlizard -- interesting designs. I'm not fond of the pixelated look, but some of the others are pretty good. Make sure you add another "L" to Alliance.
Looking forward to seeing some other designs!

I hope you don't mind a (kind of) late entry, but here's my idea:
(blue and orange seem to be popular colors for this kind of thing, so I stuck with them, but tried something with a circuit board type graphic).
hope you like it . . .

Hi -- thanks for the new submissions! We'll accept any submissions, right up to the last weekend (there's still a lot of time for us to choose, as we are in no hurry).
The new submissions look great! Let me consult with my partners and I'll post some feedback soon.

:) hi
Hi folks,
Thanks for the great submissions. I talked it over with the partners, and here are the comments:
Raja:
One of our favorite designs. Is there somethiong you can do to make the E stand out a tiny bit more (shading or something?). Also, could the line between the E and M be a little thinner?
Mowling:
We liked all of your designs. It's hard to choose our favorite! Can you show us the first one again, but without the "points" on the letters (do the OEM letters like in the second batch). I liked the first logo in the second batch as well, cool retro look, but it's naggingly reminding me of something else and I can't put my finger on it. The second logo on the second batch is also great (the squiggle amongst the letters). All of your designs have the "smoothness" we're looking for.
taldo:
Interesting concept. It wasn't exactly what we're looking for -- it may be too blocky.
blackspot:
I liked the last one, but was outvoted. Too much head-twisting to see the 3 letters :) I liked the "feel" of this last one better than the other submissions.
creativemeasures:
A bit too generic for us. Thanks for the submission though!
carlos:
One of the partners really really liked the circuit board design. Could you make the circuit design a little less prominent?
Artemii:
I liked it, but was outvoted... Can you try something else with the chip design?
Thanks again everyone!

ok, well--
what I've done in an effort to make the circuit less prominent is increase the wieight of the stroke on the bottom of the box, and also decrease the level of colour in the circuit pattern itself. my idea here was to increase the contrast in the bottom of the logo, in order to offset the colour (in the colour version) and really push the text (and thusly, the name) as the focal point.
however, I'm not quite sure if this is quite as effective as you had in mind--
what are your thoughts?
-carlos
trying to make it more clear...I coud try other typefaces as well

Hello again...here are some revisions as requested...and also a new concept with the graphic symbol on the bottom concept I have combined the "OEM" in to form one symbol. I rotated it so that it would not look just like an "M" in an "O"...but with the slant one can imagine and "E" also. I hope I am not confusing you and just trying to get blood from a turnip on this concept...anyway...let me know of further revisions that you would like.
thanks,
Matt
Thank you everyone for your submissions!
We've decided to go with Mowling's final design (the color version). The fonts and spacing were exactly what we were looking for. We also liked the OEM combined letters logo Mowling made -- can you combine that somehow with the lettering?
We'd like to get the design in your original formats (PSDs or whatever you have).
Thanks again everyone! (Raja -- your final design was a VERY close second -- thanks for your efforts!)

Great! I will have the files for you tomorrow. Regarding the combined letter graphic...after looking at that a little more...I think it makes a better stand-alone symbol...I can send it to you also. What email address should I send it to?
thanks,
matt
