Logo For IT Conference - $150 Prize
I need a logo designed for a technology conference. Here are the specifics of the conference. I have purposely left the company name off of this post and will provide that to the winning designer. With that said the company name is two words for a total of eleven (6/5) letters.
This is the title of the conference:
2004 Technology Conference
Company Name
Purpose of Conference: Educate field staff on corporate direction as well as technical areas. Network with corporate staff.
Attendees: Field technical support staff, Corporate IT Management. (300 people)
Theme: IT All Stars
Look/Mood: High Tech and Sports Like
Will Be Used On: Shirts, Memo Pads, Pens, Hats, Duffle Bag, Plaque/Award, Certificates, Name Badges, etc.
Colors: Open and up to your creativity.
That's it. I will actively provide feedback on all posts. The contest will run for two weeks and will end on March 30th, 2004. Customer requires a Photoshop PSD file.

Hi there, Shannon :)
Just to let you know: we've already have one contest where the company name wasn't revealed at the start point, and the thing ended up in CH revealing the name and running the contest with it.
There are various problems with not knowing the exact name. We are limited to use some specific font with some specific treatment (color/outline/shadow etc.) in order to be able to change it after the name is revealed. It makes the typographical part of the logo rather generic, for we cannot take advantage of specific letterforms and their combinations.
What we can do is to base the design on a graphic symbol and make the typographical part secondary. It can be done, but please be aware that the look of the design may vary after the name is revealed, because of the layout adjustments which will be necessary due to the difference in letterforms.
As an alternative, you can opt for the Reseller status: the Resellers forums are not public and the name will be seen only by the design team.
Cheers.

OK. I will keep the contest right here, for now. One thing I should note is the focus is on the 2004 Technology Conference, not the name of the company. I think focusing the design on a graphic symbol and making the typographical part secondary will work just fine. That is what we did last year. This conference is for our internal staff, so they know our company logo very well. For this effort, the focus is on the 2004 Technology Conference and the theme IT All Stars.

'Contest Holder'
Sorry we shouldn't abbreviate as it leads to confusion :bang:

No problem. Just a little carrot. This contest is for a 1.7 billion dollar company. Hopefully, I get some entries.

Carl -
Looking good. Is this scalable? I may need to shrink it for small items and I might need to explode it for a binder cover? I like the green, but would also like to see it in a neon blue.
Thanks
Shannon
Shannon,
No problems with scaling. There is a "glow effect" shadow behind "All Stars" which I can make 300dpi at your largest possible use.
I will work on color and have something tonight.

here is a design I had for something else, but works well for your needs too...let me know what you think...
Chris
Shannon,
I have yet to work on the revision to the other logo, but wanted to post the new idea that I had.
I figured better to let you see the new one and determine which was worth pursuing, if either.

WOW. I like what I am seeing. I will work on getting you some feedback this week. I have a meeting with our CIO (the decision maker) on Friday and will gather his feedback and post it up on Friday. Keep the designs coming. If you plan on submitting, I strongly suggest you get your logo in soon. :D
