View Full Version : PC Gaming Center Logo Needed - $100
(Admin code added by 2Square - AR1906520)
This a competition is for a logo for "The Gaming Cove". Competition ends 04/01/04.
The Gaming Cove will be an internet gaming center which on its most basic level consists of up to 40 computers networked together so that individuals or teams can test each others gaming skills. It will cater mainly to teenagers, college students and individuals up to their 30s. The majority of our clientel will be males.
The most popular game titles are FPS (First Person Shooters) and RTS (Real Time Strategy). Some example games are Half Life, Doom, Quake III, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942, Warcraft III, Starcraft, Command & Conquer Generals, etc. You can go to http://www.gamespot.com for more information.
The "Gaming" in "The Gaming Cove" directly conveys the type of business we are involved in. The "Cove" in "The Gaming Cove" gives this sense of a darkish cave or hangout as I like to think of it.
I'm open to any designs ideas and color schemes. I would like the logo to look professional yet game-ish and possibly even cartoonish. It needs to be appealing to our main demographic (see above), so it needs to be hip, but still be professional. We will also be using it on a webpage (none yet), so it needs to look good as a logo on the top left corner of the page. I would also like the logo to stand out from the text if possible.
Please make the logo available as a photoshop file.
Thank you and good luck!

Here's my first to goes at it :)
I'm looking for more of an image / picture to compliment the text, possibly dominate it. I just need the logo to steer away from just text only. I'd also like it to capture more of the theme of my business if possible.
carlos(esparza) - I do like what you did with the "O" looking like a crosshair. It plays into the theme a little with a lot of clientel playing first person shooters. If you want to stick with that theme, if you can make it more pronounced though.
Thanks.

Hiya, here's mine - hands could be claws coming out more 3d at you, if you like the general look - didn't want to go too far down the road if it is completely in the wrong direction.
I have some examples that I think fit what I want. Probably use these as a baseline, but feel free to use your own style when creating the logo.

in light of your suggestions, and examples of other logos, I've come up with this modification--I feel it has (typographically) an appeal to the fantasy/warcraft type players as well as the first person shooters.
any further ideas?

Looks nice. Could you provide several submissions in different colors. Also, if you could do away with the old paper effect on the red and gray background. Could you also add a saying "PC & Console Gaming Center". Possibly have it follow the bottom curve of the logo. I'd also be interested to see what the logo looks like the a capital "G" and "C". How do you feel the logo fits the theme of the business?
carlos(esparza)
Real nice effect with the crosshair. Fits in with the theme of the business. Could you take the logo off the red background though. Possibly on either white or black.
I like how the "the" is not pronouced compared to the "Gaming Cove". Possibly make it less pronounced? Not liking the font too much though. Something similare to what Mowling and AutomatikStudios is nice. Could you possibly spice it up a little more though and not make it look purely like a text logo?
Thanks for the submissions!

Hello...here are some revisions. Regarding the style of logo I have created...I think it can work well...keep in mind that stepping up and doing something different from the norm is what makes a leader...sometimes. Let me know of anymore changes that you would like.
thanks,
M@

ok, well--I've removed the red background; for now I have it purely black and white, though the parts that are grey right now would probably become some other colours in the final (what colours do you think you would like?).
I have also played with the fonts a bit--and tried some different things--here are some options . . .
any further ideas? should the fonts go more unusual?
thanks

Hi there! :)
A network of caverns?
A nightmarish labyrinth?
Futuristic gunsight?
Mowling
I think the logo with the "Dark Blue" and "Red" color would look nice. Not really liking the star design as it doesn't seem to fit the business theme. Could you change the setting to "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center" and decrease the font size giving it less emphasis.
Paula23
Of the logos you provided, I like "Logo 3" the most. I'm not sure what is above the "T" in "The Gaming Zone", but I think it would look better without it. Also, not sure if the skull will work. Is it possible to work on the same logo, just modifying it to better suit the theme of the business. Could you also add "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center. I've modified your logo a little to what I would like you to work with.
Eagle
I like the design. Professional, simple and clean. I like the color and font of "The Gaming Cove". I've modified what you provided to show what I would like you to work with. Could you possibly emphasize the "G" and "C" in the "The Gaming Cove" more. Possibly capital letters? I'll leave it up to you. I would like the "The" in "The Gaming Cove" to be less emphasized (see picture below). Please use what font and color you think is most appropriate. I'm just using that as an example. Could you also add "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center" (see picture below). Again, please use what font and color you think is most appropriate as I am just using that as an example.
I really like the logo image which you state "A network of caverns?; A nightmarish labyrinth?; Futuristic gunsight?". It almost looks like the "G" and "C" in "The Gaming Cove". Did you mean to do that? Could you possibly use that image as a baseline and emphasize more of a "G" while keeping it looking like a gunsight? I'd like to see just a couple of examples with the new logo and the current one just to compare.
Thanks for all the submission! :)

I'll be happy to modify! As far as the "T' goes,it looks like I left some type behind.
Sorry about that. I'll have something for you tomorrow.

This is a fun look. It has a Pirates of the Caribbean feel to it. I'd like to see some variations to the image -- without the 'X' in the background, different color schemes (with and without the 'X'). In looking at the 'G' and 'C' in Gaming Cove they have a nice look to them. Could you do something with those two letters to form a logo of some sort, possibly merging, overlapping, or combining them together?
CBaker14
You have the right idea buried in the image. The image as a whole might be a little too busy with the bullet holes and sword. I'm looking for a cleaner image possibly without the holes and sword. I also think font consistency would look a little better with this theme. The 'the' might be a little too pronounced as it takes away from "Gaming Cove". But, again, you're on the right track.
Thanks
I work something up in the morning for you

Here some revisions

Cool logo. Don't forget about the "The" in The Gaming Cove. That's an important piece of the name. And I'm trying to incorporate "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center" as a subtitle. I don't want the subtitle to drown out the main name, so if possible, keep it in smaller font and "quieter". I like the monochromatic blues in the logo and the name. Could you also try some contrasting colors? Possibly Oranges/Blues, Yellows/Purples, etc.
Cadii
Don't forget about "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center" subtitle. I'm trying to squeeze that in the logo/name somewhere, preferably toward the bottom. I think you're on the right track but I would like to see some more "excitement" in the logo/name. Let's try adding some color to the name to make it stand out more.
MOZ
Logo's looking good. Can we try for a darker red and/or burgundy in the first logo? I think that will look good with the yellow border. Don't forget about "The Ultimate PC & Console Gaming Center" subtitle.
Good luck!
