LOGO COLORS AND FEEL:
The Logo look we prefer is somewhat impressionistic COLOR COMBINATIONS SHOULD COMPLIMENT OUR CURRENT WEBSITE DESIGN COLORS. CONTRAST IS NOT A PROBLEM.

I have attached several images in a collage you can view for shapes, as well as “feel” of the Color Scheme is open but should be striking either in color or contrast between colors for impact with the current web design colors.

PLEASE SEE THE EXAMPLES WE WORKED UP AND NOTES ON SAME

IT is important to note that we need this done in vector format for many of the uses we need the logo for and will expect the final winner to provide the images in several formats.

Nope that was a direct cut & paste from my friends website - feel free to edit that out if you need to. AND A SPECIAL NOTE - THEY ARE DOING STICHED DESIGNS NOT GRAPHICS.

I'll guess I'll be the first to take a shot at it...
I went for an abstract industrial spool.

Thanks for your entry I forwarded to my friend and she said we would go over suggestions later this evening (she's got a outside task that requires sunlight to finish this afternoon).

Don't change this design but perhaps toy with a whimsical twist to another copy of the same design where you give the thread spool sunglasses and maybe even little arms with a thumbs up sign. I want to give her several options and I know that a semi-cool spool of thread might give her some pause for thought.

Ok Here Goes

Just got off the phone with my friend after she got in from work. Got her to stop in and take a look here on the forum so here goes her input on changes.

1. She really likes the stacked approach you used on the Wording....Please include the word "The" in the stack because the design has to be embrodiery freindly

2. Designs should not have an overwhelming background color as once again (embrodiery friendly) it would overpower the wording. Shoot for color in the spool and in the wording instead.

3. All designs need to incorporate the web site www.thecoolspool.com

4. Lets put some elements of detail in the spool of thread so people not inthe industry can tell it's a spool

She wants to thank you for jumping in and is excited about seeing next revision

Just got off the phone, here we go on her comments..... she's really crazy about the font you chose in this design

1. She really likes the font and wants you to make the word THE a little larger in the design.

2. Your color choice was good as it's close to the existing web template she's using, if you can please try an exact match to the blue on the web template on site.

3. All designs need to incorporate the web site www.thecoolspool.com

4. She REALLY REALLY LIKED my suggestion of trying to put "Joe Cool" glasses and little cartoon arms on the spool. (I still recommend one version without glasses and arms, and then a modified version with them, just trust me a bit here:)

GREAT WORK!

Here's the final feedback from my freind

1. She's like to see the word THE in the same font

2. She wants the "Joe Cool" Glasses and a thumbs up sign

3. Please add www.thecoolspool.com to the logo

4. Please make the letters one color

As Promised here's the feedback

1. Please make all the Lettering one color - The Blue you used would be good(Very hard to embroider three color levels)

2. The Flowers have to be removed as they would be very hard to make neat with embroidery

3. She's Pretty well set on the Joe Cool Sunglasses and a thumbs up on cartoonish arms

Great first entry as promised here are the revisions

1. Can't have the shadow behind the spool (embroidery thing)

2. Make the Glasses a little more prominent (maybe black)

3. Add www.thecoolspool.com to the logo

4. Please see the website at www.coolspool.com for the Colors we need to use

We're getting real close here!

Thanks

Hi NEON
I can take out the flower and fix the color, but the glasses and thumbs have already been introduced by another designer and as a courtsey we don't copy each others ideas. I think that if you want ALL designs to include that, you'll have to state that in your opening description. I may be wrong...you may want check with the powers to be

I agree the three designs she's considering do not have to be identical please make the other changes she requested. I'll talk to her about your point.

hey moz, ;)
since the idea was suggested by the client then I think that any or all designers can run with the idea, not just myself...someone can correct me if I'm wrong but, that's what I've gathered in these forums...so feel free to use it if you feel captivated, I don't mind at all :)

and to neon,
here are the changes you have requested...and I took a piece out of your website and eyedropped the colors out of it and this is what I came up with, it might look funky because of the thousands of different monitors out there, but if you know of the exact colors you want to use let me know the formula...thanks so much, :D

 We have a winner!

Just got a call from my friend and we have a winner with the contest.

 piece_of_mind  is the favorite entry in the entire shop according to my friend!

Final Revisions:

1. Please make the arm and the single piece of thread BLACK to provide a deeper contrast

2. Color codes for the image should be BLACK where currently used, darker lines should be R0/G25/B179, Balance of image should be R75/G100/B255

3. Can you supply or tell me where to get the PC font you used for POSTERS that match your LOGO?

4. Finally we will need the final version in vector format both eps and ai versions for suppliers

Thanks to everyone who participated I loved each one of these for various reasons and want to bow to the collective talent one and all!!!!!!

hey neon,
thanks for choosing my spool, I was just going to give you a quick note, as I am at work and will be for the rest of the day and night most likely (deadlines....) so I am sorry but I won't get to the corrections until late tonight...hope you don't mind ;)
I also had a couple of questions for you,
so you guys work in RGB and do you need a CMYK version as well? and what posters of the logo are you referring to? im confused
okay well, I'll chat later and post revisions later,
thanks again, Njoy

Looks like my rapid fire reply caused some confusion.

1. The RGB Colors are the only way I knew to give you the colors I don't know the CMYK versions we will use both

2. I requested the Font or it's identification because as I stated in the contest the customer is using this new logo everywhere, posters, web site, letterhead, banners etc.... and it would look very nice if we used the same font when we develop those things in the future

hello neon,
sorry it's taken me so long to get back with you...but here's the updated changes...I couldn't use black for the threading because it meshed with the spool's sunglasses and looked quite strange..also the font name is witless, which I downloaded the pc version and will include in the final stage of sending you the files...let me know what you think.
