I was going to have a contest a year ago to have templates done for my Family website. The last thing I did was a header/logo contest which Demex won.

I haven't touched the site in over a year and thinking about having a template contest. However, I know that most of the work done here is for commercial sites. I've checked out the pre-made templates at places like Template Monster...I have to say I chuckled at what they call "Family website" templates. They in my opinion don't even reflect family to me. They look like a commercial site selling something.

Before I hold a contest, I want to get some feedback on whether anyone has done a "family" site and if anyone has some portfolio examples? Also, general feelings about being able to work with the header/logo that currently exists. I want to keep the work Demex did, obviously and build around it.

Oh, meant to add the link to the current site. Family Webpage (http://www.vondollens.us)

Let me know.

Thanks,

Stefan

ah, finally a designcontest which is for non design team members,
I haven't made such a family website, but I'll give it a try.
You never know ;)

Some other things: is this the name: "Caleb's Cubby Cave"
and you want to keep the layout, I mean the number of tables, or should we just be a little inventive and make something creative?

BTW, click my banner to see my portfolio website (I've only added some wallpapers I've made cause I'm working on a dyn system... you know.)

Kind regards flax

Pieter this is not a contest, he is simply getting some feedback from the designers before he posts a contest. Please do not create anything for Stefan.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my original post.

Thanks Palmer for clearing that up.

Palmer is correct - I'm looking for some feedback as to whether any of the designers have experience creating non-commercial sites and if they could work with some of the existing items BEFORE I post a contest. I'd hate to post one and no one take it up, or only one person enter it.

I apologize if there was any confusion on this.

I think any of us have either done sites for family members or for our own family. There really isn't a huge difference. Basically what you need is the bottom part of your site fixed up since you already have the header done. It actually would be more appealing to the designers for a change of pace and for the fact that they don't have to figure out what to put in the header.

How much did you plan on offering?

Palmer - I'm thinking in the area of $200-250. I think I'll post it on the 29th of this month.

Annia - well.... I think so! But then again, all of us dads think our kids are cute. Right? :P

As long as that's for 1 or 2 pages that price would be fine.

Thanks :)
