Designers - please see revised contest requirement (below) at http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showt...indpost&p=63693 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showtopic=3435&view=findpost&p=63693) :)
Homebush Bay Timber is a company based in Sydney Australia that imports timber from various countries all around the world and sells as a wholesale timber merchant.
The company was established in the 1960's and the sole purpose of HBT's marketing was, and remains today, to service Timber Merchants, Truss & Frame fabricators and Joinery Shops of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne with a consistent product range of quality.
We import various types of timber the most common being all types of pine, oregon, plywood, cedar and maple.
We have decided to change the logo completely. We are open to all suggestions at this stage but, as we mostly refer to the company as 'HBT' we would like this to be the main focus but still having the words 'Homebush Bay Timber Pty Ltd' There as well.
Attached is the old logo
I'll start this one out for you.

Hi, here's mine, altho I think the last one looks a bit too much like Carl's (great minds?)

Carl,
We really like the first of your three designs. It looks a little off balance but so far we think it looks great.
Bethie,
The source material is the same, so there are bound to be similarities. Reworking a logo is a different animal than actually creating a new logo.
No worries. It's all good!

hello, I'd like to show you my take on this, if I may . . .
any thoughts?
thanks,
-carlos
HBT,
Hey, that's funny...I have been called off balance before!
Seriously, though, what can I do to fix the balance issue for you? Is the tree to much to the left of the logo?

To all Designers,
The word from management is is that they really like the designs created so far but would like to see the original logo almost exactly the same but with sharper edges rather than the curves.
Can you show me anything like that?
Thanks :D
Here is your logo with "sharp" edges.

Carl
we like what you've done. Can you stech it a bit sideways, make it look a bit 'fatter'? We think we'd also like it not so tall.
Thanks
I have changed the aspect ratio to make it "fatter"

TO ALL DESIGNERS, - A CHANGE TO THE CONTEST!!!
We'd just like to inform you all that even though we like what you've done so far we've changed our minds completely and we are now going for a new logo completely. We have also increased the prise money to compensate for this - it is now $100.
So whatever you can come up with let me know
thanks :o :o

hello, here is a new idea for you.
I hope you like it,

hmmm, this looks pretty similar to black spots second one--I didn't mean for that to happen. I hope it's not too similar (?).

Designers,
Please have a look at the attachment below. We like this idea but it needs refining. Could you please run it with a few different fonts so we can pick the ones we like.
Thanks

Like this?
BTW...
A couple other designers had similar ideas to yours. Is there a way they can adjust theirs to suit your needs?

same style (as what you have asked) but maybe the symbol is more timber than tree...(it'll still be a work in progress if you are liking the concept) ;)

DESIGNERS
We are really desperate to get a new logo by the end of this week and would really like to see some more creative logos to choose from. We are wanting to update our brochure as soon as we can and would put this new logo on it. As an incentive, we will put the name of the winning designer and contact details on our brochure (if you want) and send you a copy of the brochure (to hang on the wall!!!).
So if you would like some recognition across Australia please send us your designs asap.
 thanks

Radical Seed,
We really like the style of your design. It's a bit too tall and wedon't really like the 'crayon' like of the tree. Is there anything you can do to change it?
Thanks

Designers,
Forgot to add that the designs that we posted last week - we have changed our minds (again!) not sure if that's really what we are after. Please anything new would be great!

Hello,
I like the incentive that you will add the designers contact information in your brochure - and would like to enter the contest, but m completely unsure of the direction you are after. Could you give me and the other designers some sort of insight into what you are looking for?????

Sorry about the complete confusion!
I think we are a bit confused as to what we want too! Unfortuneatly this makes it rather difficult.
I think we would like to change to logo completely but unless there is a logo we are really definate on I think my bosses are reluctant to make a change at all - (I think this is why they wanted just a logo revamp originally) - So in my opinion a new one would be better, it's just that logo we have received so far have all been in a similar vein and ... not sure how to put it but nothing really screramed at us. Does that make sense? Sorry!
Please give it go and send us some designs asap!!
Thanks for the feedback - I'll try and be more helpful!
Here is a new concept using some of the old logo elements. As you can see, this could be used in several different ways. The logo splits into different icons very easily.
I tried to incorporate a tie to your customer base with the timber framing.

Blackspot
We like your design but are a bit unsure about the line in the triangle. I know it can easily be taken out but is there something else you could do??

Cadii,
Not really a fan of the framing your've put into the logo, sorry. Can you try something else?

We like your design but think it got a little lost, would it make a difference if the tree were a little more defined

WE HAVE A WINNER!
We have decided to go with RadicalSeeds deign for our HBT logo.
The revision you made on teh 13 April is great and we would like you now just see if you could write Homebush Bay Timber both underneath and on the right hand side of the logo. we would like to have the option of changing where to writing goes depending on where we are using it, and also just using the logo with no writing in some circumstances. Could you please give me a few samples of fonts.
Thanks
Tyler

 Hehey! Thanks for choosing my design and I am glad you are pleased with the results! I'll work on a few fonts and have try to have them up in a few hours.
Cheers

Hi,
We're not too keen of any of these. We want something probably just in black font and really simple. The last of your examples we like that kind of writing font but a little too dark on the Homebush Bay.
Homebush Bay Timber should all be in the same size and font. Perhaps the Pty Ltd could be smaller though.
Could we also have the writing on the right hand side of the logo
thanks
Tyler

A few more.
Do you have any examples of fonts you like?

04-21-2004, 03:56 PM
HI
We are going to go with the top two designs. We can use both of them depanding what we are putting the logo onto. Can we also have just the logo (without Hombush Bay Timber) as well.
I think that should be it!
By the way, what formats can you give them to me in? We definately want it in tiff format and a few others!
thank you
HomebushBayTimber
04-21-2004, 04:05 PM
Sorry, Also definatley want it in jpg format. So all 3 designs in all those formats!
thanks
Tyler

OK all set. You can download 5 different formats of the three files (logo and text horizontal, logo and text vertical, and logo by itself) at the following link.

If the link doesn't work then my server is down and will be back up shortly, so try back in a few hours. It gets shut down at night for the next few days. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks again!
