We need a logo for our thrift stores. We are an upscale thrift store very organized, very clean, and low prices. Customers often remark that our stores look more like a department store than a thrift store. We carry everything. Clothing for the whole family, furniture, housewares, domestics, jewelry etc. You name it , we carry it. all in very good condition. Our signs are a red backround with white lettering.
Fabulous Finds
Thrift
Superstore.
"You're Gonna Love It!" (is our tag line)
I really have no Ideas for the design of the logo. I would like a classy look.
I guess it basically has to be a red and white design, and if any of you are thrift store shoppers you know the rush you get going to your favorite thrift store not knowing what great deals / treasures you will find, hence the name Fabulous Finds. I am very open and very anxious for your ideas.
I will use this logo for all advertising, letterhead, Business cards Etc.

I need the words Thrift Superstore in the title it really brings the thrifty shoppers in. I would like the font easier to read we will use it for our pick up trucks too. Would like you're gonna love it! in there too.
You'll never know what "Treasures" you will find...

Carl, I like The treasure chest! I Need the color to be bright red. Maybe have the treasure chest open showing some of the things we sell, like clothing, jewlery, furniture ect.? Thanks

Pennyln, I like the red "FAB" in the first one. I like the Finds outlined in black in the 2 nd one and how the"I" connected to the "O" in the Superstore.
Could you combine the 2? Outline the Fab in balck and use the Finds thrift superstore in the 2nd?
And put You're Gonna love it in there. Thanks!
Here's an idea to work with

Moz, I like it but I dont love it. I think I neeed more out of the graphics. Any other picture that could relate to a fabulous find, treasure, great deal, ... I'm trying to put into graphics what people get excited about when they go into the thrift stores. It's basically a treasure hunt. Looking for that pair of Mudd, LEI Jeans for $2.99. That GAP tee for 1.49. I wish I knew exactly the pic. but I dont. Thanks Again! Tammy
Hi Tammy
I have an idea in my head and I'm working on getting it out. I LOVE to go to thift stores!!!!! Many treasures to be had!!! I'm a collector of stuff, love to sell on EBAY my handle is cujo98. Your store sounds great (wish I could shop it) OBTW How's the font do you want something more playful or is it ok
MOZ
Here is a more product oriented "Treasure Chest".

Carl, The Color is still not quite right. Is there a brighter, bolder red?
Can you change the Font to something more like the font in Pennyln's
2 nd graphics? So it is not so feminine.
I really like the open treasure chest! Is there any way to make the items like the shoes for example a bit more noticeable? Keep up the good work! Thanks! Tammy

MOZ, In your new one if you would try the font in pennylns 2 nd post so I could see it, that would be great! The color red is perfect.
As a fellow thrift store shopper, I'm anxious to see what you come up with! Thanks, Tammy

Jason, I don't care for that one. I think the reason it is too cartoony (if that's even a word) Any other ideas?
Beth, I'm sorry, I dont care for that one either. Its rather large for print ad's Etc. Any other entries?

Tammy - what exactly of my suggestion could I use in a revision and what not; in other words, which elements are too similar to the grocerys store ?
I guess they don't have the girl in their design as well ? :D
Thanks,
Frank

Frank, It's the shape that the name of the store is in, and the star burst. The name of the store that has a logo like that is "Sparkle Market " and your girl reminds me of a grocery clerk with the apron on.
My husband commented that he liked yours but the picture of the girl was not what we were looking for. It limit's our shoppers to women. It is more of an everything, everybody type store. I guess I should have posted that in my remarks.... I'm new to this:)
The more I look at it, I like the overall design. We would just need to work on the clip art. I wish I had a suggestion for you. I don't know of any picture that portrays 'Fabulous Finds', 'Great Deals', 'Thrill of the hunt', 'Treasure hunting' the excitement of thrift store shopping.... I hope you do!

Now that you guys and gals have put ideas on the board I'm going to pull the elements out that we really like from the ideas submitted. Maybe this will help you get a better overall picture.
First of all we want a clean professional look. I feel pennyln accomplished this, when you scroll through the entries the name just jumps out at you and you have to read it.
I would like some sort of clip art. Carls clip art is really good. I like the treasure chest idea.
Something that looks good in black and white as well as color.
You guys are doing a great job I really appreciate it. It's hard since I had no clue in the beginning what I was looking for. Keep up the good work!

Carl, I love the new treasure chest! Is it possiable not to have it so cartooney? My husband wants a professional look and I think that the cartoon style is holding him back. I would like to see it both ways.
The text needs to jump at you more.
Could you go brighter on the red?
Crisp up the black and white version of the chest its hard to make out when smaller.
Put an oblong circle around 'thrift superstore' like pennylns 2 nd version?
Thank you so much! Tammy
Tammy,
Here is the latest for you.

Getting it all together should post later

Bill, Can you make them in black & white and shrink it so I can see how it would look in ad's?
TammyFFTS
03-19-2004, 03:02 PM
Carl I really like the new treasure chest. Any way to make the name stand out more so that if we don't use the chest due to ad space the name can stand on it's own?

Moz, I think I see what your going for. I don't know, something is not right. The fist gives an angry feel to me. It's too in your face. My kids just saw it and said: "oh yeah! That one, thats cool..."

well, you had comented in your original post that people often thought that your store looked like a department store . . .
I researched the logos of departement stores (the fonts used, layouts, colors, looks), and combined that with what you've said you where looking for (colour wise . . .).
what are your thoughts?
thanks,
-carlos
I KNOW. Still got it with the youth  though
I'll see what I can do

Tammy,

here is my entry ;)
Black and white revisions....
Tammy,
I added a little something to the two "s'" in the name, made it more bold and outlined the entire text portion to give it more "pop".
I included the logo without the icon in both color and b/w.

I have been on the road (Spring Vacation here!) I have really paying attention to the logo's along the way! We will be home tomorrow and have have narrowed it down to a few logos that we really like.
The problem is that I like one and He likes the other. I Will post as soon as we get back thank you! The new entries are great!

Here's a quick idea. Haven't put in slogan yet and if you like I'll redo so that the text doesn't poke out the sides...yuk!

Were back and no time to spare!
Moz, Your new enrty is really good but after our spring vacation looking at all of those logo's..... I realized that I need to focus on just the name alone. I wanted a graphic but that is not what the big boys do and their has to be a reason.
TammyFFTS
03-25-2004, 05:00 AM
Bill, In your original post, the frist 2 you submitted....
Can you add the' You're gonna love it' to both of them in a single line under the superstore and in the heart design as you did in your second entry on 3/18? I would like to see it both ways. Please shrink and put them in black and white too.
On the 3/ 18 entry, 2 nd design, can you space the words a bit farther apart to give a bit more space? I really like the heart but the smaller it gets you can't read it any improvements there?

Moz, that is very close to what we have now. ( the shape and the font)
I'll get feedback from my husband for the new entries this evening. It's been a pleasure working with you!
Who knows maybe your one with the lady holding the cash will appeal to one of the consignment board ladies. That one is really cute! I think I read where you can purchase entries that didn't win somewhere, Right? Thanks Tammy

Jason, I'm sorry I forgot to reply.
We looked at it this morning and said it was actually very good too.
Out of your 2 I like the 2 nd color combination the best. Crisp & clean. It lacks something in Black and white though. Maybe take the blocked B&W 'finds' and put it with the Black Fabulous? I would like to see capital F's.
Just J
03-25-2004, 11:24 AM
Thank you very much for the feedback. I didn't really inderstand what you meant in your post though (I'm having a dumb day today, sorry). From what it sounded like to me made it seemed like you wanted the top version as the B&W version. Anyway, I made the "F"'s capital for you.

Also something else to think about...
Tammy,
Here is my text only entry.
As far as the big boys...don't let that stop you from changing the way things are. Most department stores were started before the turn of the century and didn't have the resources necessary to do large graphic signs, so they stuck with simple, family names as their logos.
Remember, the world's second largest retailer, Target, is identifiable because of it's ICON.
Just putting up a fight for my treasure chest!!! :D
This entry I tried to bring attention to your slogan, which I think is dynamite. I see it working independently in different applications and using it as your service mark. It would really work well within the framework of a website where having Thrift Superstore in the logo isn't as necessary.
Carl...
TammyFFTS
03-25-2004, 06:51 PM
Carl, I really like your treasure chest too! As someone pointed earlier to me they wouldn't use a treasure chest unless it was in our name. Target 's logo says their name. The new text only just dosen't get it for me. Thank you for all of your hard work! I feel guilty not paying all of you guys. Thanks again! Tammy
Tammy,
No problem. Thank you for your feedback throughout the contest.

Bill, One or two last things
On the very last version can you put the you're gonna love it under the Thrift superstore. I can use that one in smaller print ads so you can read the tag line, the heart is hard to read when so small.
Can you make the 'FAB' (In the last one) a little smaller so it is closer to the font size of the 'finds'. Then to decide between the first and last version. :D Thank You!
TammyFFTS
03-27-2004, 03:47 AM
Bill on the First entry on 3-25 can you leave the finds as it is, in black, but make the' I 'an' !' and have it go into the 'O' in superstore like your red finds?
Do this with the a red '!' too. Only the '!' in red

We would like to have a decal made for the side of our 14' box truck. We would like to have it for business cards, ads, tee shirts. etc. I'm sure your know better than I what I need. Both color and black and white please. Thank you for all of the revisions.
What do I need to do next? Tammy
Send me a PM with your email address and I'll get the files to you.
