Good morning everyone. It's been a while since I've been here and it looks like you've been busy!
You did my business logo for my company ( Love both of them :D ) and now I/we need your talents again. We need a logo for our * Pet Sitters Conference* group.
We are an organization made up of 7 board members who are all professional pet sitters. Our org. is called (presently) Pet Sitters Conference, formerly known as * Cybersittersunited*.
We put on an annual pet sitters conference varying the location yearly. Next January (Tucson) will be our 8th annual conference. Our focus is to provide an affordable, informative conference for pet sitters from all over to assist them in setting up and growing their services and to help them avoid some of the pitfalls etc. It's put on by pet sitters for pet sitters and we cover a wide range of topics each year. These conferences are a way of *Keeping pet sitters connected*.
Our organization is under going some new and exciting changes including the name change and we want a new look. We are thinking we'd like to somehow incorporate the letters PSC into our logo but it's not set in stone. We of course want it to be pet related and professional in look and still have a welcoming feel to it.
This logo will be used on shirts, correspondence etc. and so needs to be relatively simple and adaptable to different formats. We don't really have a color scheme in mind.
We do a lot of corresponding with one another and attendees via the internet. Here's a link to the site for our group,

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PetsittersConference

This is a new group site (we've yet to move all our archives to this new group, but there is a link to the old site as well) but should give you a feel of who we are.
I will be in contact with the other board members and ask them for input but for now..... Go for it! We will be checking in often.
I've completed the $$ transaction through paypal and await Palmers verification code. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Terri Randall
Board member PSC

Hi Terri
Just to make sure...
PET SITTERS CONFERENCE is the text
PSC also

Do you want it to have a theme ie..TUCSON/SOUTHWEST or is it something that you'll use at all locations?

please let me know and I'll get you a sample going

Hi Moz
Yes, Pet Sitters Conference is the name of our group, PSC being the initials. We have also kind of adopted an unofficial tag line of * Keeping pet sitters connected* but we are not married to it by any means. If someone has a better idea, bring it on.
Also, we would be using this logo forever so wouldn't want a Tucson or Southwest theme as we will use it where ever we hold a conference but do need a pet related theme of course.
Thanks Moz for your speedy response. Not sure of a deadline yet as I need to run it past the other board members but we are anxious to move forward,
Thank you,

Hi Moz and all...
Was called out of town but thought I'd check in. Wanted to add that we'd like to set a two week deadline to this contest if possible. So lets say Monday April 5th. Don't mean to rush you guys ;) but we are anxious to have a logo to work with.
Thanks much!

Hello Moz and thank you for your design thus far. I've been very busy but will try to keep on top of this now, sorry for the delay in responding.
While I like your style, this one isn't quite doing it for me. I'm not too fond of the font and the pic of the pets lounging doesn't really portray the essence of the conference. Let me expand a bit....
We care for and pamper clients pets all year long. Our conference occurs at the end of January yearly when all pet sitters are coming off of their busiest time of year and are all pretty frazzled and need a break so at this special event, WE need the pampering not the pets! :lol2: Maybe they should care for us for a change  ??
I still want to keep the dog/cat theme, but would like to see a human there as well. The conference, in addition to being a time to escape to a warmer climate after a killer holiday season is also a time for sitters from all over the country to gather and *reconnect* with one another. It's a time of comraderie in an industry that can sometimes be a bit void of human contact ( but most of us prefer it that way ;) )
So to recap, yes to an animal theme with a human touch as well, sitters getting together, reconnecting, relaxing yet still learning and growing. We are an internet group (largely) so that may be a good aspect to consider, I like the warm climate feel as we always hold it in a warm area. Want a business, professional feel but still a touch of whimsy.
Make any sense?? I hope so.
By the way Moz, I do love the logo as is for a pet sitter logo  . My business is called Creature Comforts and your logo really portrays that. I may refer a couple friends here if you don't mind and ask them to look at this logo for their biz. Is that allowed? Don't want to break list rules or whatnot but would hate to see this logo go unused.
I will report back to the board members as to the progress. I may need to extend the deadline if need be. I know all you talented designers are busy but I'd love to see a few more jump on board.
Thank you!

Thanks Terri, I understand better now! As for the others obtaining the design, I'm not sure how that works. I asked the moderator for an answer.

Perfect. I will contact my friends who are looking for a logo and be in touch. Not sure of protocol but should they contact you privately and take this off list as this doesn't really pertain to this contest? Don't want to break the rules. Perhaps they should just post a contest here? At any rate, I'll contact them and see if they are interested.
But now to the task at hand ( selfishly) our conference logo!! Looking forward to seeing more! :help:

Just checking in to see what if any progress has been made. Don't mean to be a pest but I had hoped for more to take to the board at this point. :(

Is it a lack of input on my part? Am I expecting too much too soon

Are you all just tired of the pet themed logos? Could it be a matter of the contest prize money not being enough?

Please advise.

Thank you!

Hi Terri
MOZ here. I haven't forgotten about you. It's just that I'm not an illustrator and can't do what you want. However, I've been searching around and found a piece of clip (can't use it, don't own it) but you can maybe guide an illustrator to follow its lead. I think if you add in a dog & cat servant it might just be what you want. You might want to add more people too!

Hope this helps. I'll going to try to come up with another (icon based idea) for you today

Thanks for your input thus far Moz. :) I do like the clip art you posted, wish it were yours. I understand about you not being an illustrator, no problem.
I Was hoping for much more from this group. I'm kind of disappointed. :( I've really not got anything to take to the board. I was MIA for a while so maybe my input/feedback wasn't great
I've contacted them to see if they'd like me to extend the deadline, up the ante or just call it over which I hate to do as I really bragged up this group to them and told them this would be our best avenue for our logo. You see, we are a small grass roots org. ( translation, small budget) and are currently filing for non profit status so we don't have a lot to spend but if it's a matter of not a big enough pot then someone please tell me.
Would still really love to get more designs from this group :help: as I know how talented you all are.

Sincerely,

I'm sorry response has been so slow. Since you've been away, maybe the guys here thought you left. Maybe it's the money. I do know that the illustrators here have been swamped. Maybe you should PM a couple and invite them. I would gladly give you what you want...just can't draw it :(

If my sample works, they can tweak it in their style. I really hope it happens for you
If there's anything I can do just let me know

Hi Terri! :)

Thanks for sending me in Rita's direction on PSL. She sounds very nice.

I think this must be a really busy time for the designers. Plus, I think they are bombarded with logo contests. I'm holding my third contest here and I have never had this low of a response.

Hey, weren't you the one that originally sent everyone to DO? ;)

PS: I'm so sorry to hear that your mom is so sick. It's especially hard when she is so far away. Take care and God Bless.

Hi JulieT. !!
Glad to have you on board. I really like your work. :)

I know I've been missing lately and I'm sorry. My mom's got a terminal illness and I've been trying to do a balancing act of home, hearth, business etc. and not doing too well, sorry.

I'm going to try to address all of you here if you don't mind to save time.

First, Moz! Thanks for the welcome back and I appreciate your help thus far. Sure wish you were an illustrator.

Blackspot, thank you for your entries. They are a bit bold but I'm hoping to give better direction here so as to help those who may want to help us.

Kristyn, Thank you and I'm sure Rita will work out great for you.

Julie, I really like your design and with a few changes, it may work but I'd still love some more to look at.
I'm also working on getting board approval to * sweeten the pot* a bit in the hopes of enticing a few more of you ;)

I'm going to include a few comments from the board members here on what their vision of our logo is. I realize they are vague ( sorry) but we collectively don't have a creative bone in our bodies! That's why we're here. I'm just hoping these ramblings will inspire some of you.

<<I kind of like Julie's. I was wondering if we could have a leash connecting them and maybe get a bird in there. Also need .com.

The other thing I was thinking is

Pet
Sitting
Conference.com

With a couple of pets coming out of the P, a guy and gal standing inside the C, and leashes coming off the pets through the S to the people's hands.>>

<<I can pass along your thoughts. I kinda liked Julies too. I thought perhaps the half circle in the center could be a computer instead?>>

<<A couple of thoughts... Since this started by e mail, I think the center should be a computer, as Diane said since they mean everything to us And do we want one or 2 other colors. And I agree about the bird, maybe but then what about the other critters we care for? I said I would know it when I saw it and this seems pretty close.>>

<< Simple, conference and pet sitter or pets I think is what we are looking for and then the initial need to be bold and really grab you so that eventually we will be known as PSC >>

Well.... those are the ramblinge, er I mean thoughts of some of the board members. Looks like we want to keep it simple, include pets & people, incorporate the initilas into the logo if possible but still have the Pet sitters Conference below as well. Looks like the popular consensus is to include *dot com* somehow. Also since we started via internet, we want to somehow have the pc play a part.

Clear as mud???
Thanks for all your help thus far. As you can tell, there is no deadsline for now until we get what we need. I'll be back.....

Thanks!

Good Morning Radical Seed.
I really like this. :) It's innovative and clean.
A couple things though. I'd like to see a couple other types of pets ( cat, bird) included along with the dog as this almost denotes dog walking only. Also, it's a bit masculine. Perhaps a male/female with a couple pets. I lLOVE the computer screen as the frame work. Very cool!

Thank you!

Ummmm??? That is a computer screen is it not?
I thought it was but have just been told it isn't. If you could make it plain to everyone with a tweak or two that the outside framework is indeed a P.C. that would be great!
Thanks!

hi Radical Seed.
While I'm happy to see the addition of other pets, it still is rather masculine. Also, I'd rather see a *pet* type bird, the one depeicted looks rather raptor like. I also had someone ask me if that was a sanakes head in the left corner ( your cat) and sure enough, if you look at it, it could be a snakes head.
Looking for friendlier I think.
Thank you!

Hi Moz! It's adorable and I love all the pets. Did you create this? Problem is, while I think it's a very nice picture, it isn't really what we're asking for re, PSC, people, pets, the computer etc.
But I do like the picture a lot. :D

Hi Radical Seed. That would be perfect! Thank you. Also, Julie T. Several of ther board members really liked your first design with themodifications suggested earlier which were, making the semi circle into a p.c. adding a bit of color and not having the word Conference so * flowery*. Wish you'd try again too.
thank you all!!

<<I like it a lot Terri, but I do think the PSC needs to be worked into it. After all we want to be known as something shorter than our name spelled out. I like the black and orange with the leash, maybe a purple instead? But I really do like it. Cool.>>
Linda

<<I actually like them both, so either one would make me happy. I
think PSC on the screen would look fine.>. Janice

<<Either version looks fine. I would suggest that the "computer" graphic is
more defined, so it is recognizable as a computer. Having PSC on the screen
would help define it more. The bottom design, with purple leashes, try it.>>
Chon

<<PSC on the computer screen would be great. Must have the leashes since we are "Keeping Pet Sitters Connected" How about the black with the orange touches and purple leashes.>.

Hello Julie T. We love your design!! Thank you. We'd like to ask for a couple of final tweaks from you if you don't mind then declare you our winner :tup: and close this contest. Here'e what we'd like to see for the final;
Firts of all, we like number 2 in the last revisions you did for us very much. That's the one we want with these changes, if you don't mind.
Let's take out the big * Pet Sitters Conference* under the computer altogether, just get rid of it,and move up the petsittersconference.com running under the computer and enlarging it so it runs from under the hand on the left hand side to the hand on the right hand side. Capitalize the P, S and C in petsittersconference.com, not the *c* in com, the *c* in Conference.
We love the colors! We'd like Black, Orange, a touch of the purple & white of course. We'd also like to have a black & White version for some print jobs. Here's roughly what we have in mine, not as to color but final design in case I'm confusing you. I'll attempt to attach the picture but don't know if the script underneath will come with it or be sized or placed correctly. Anyway, Julie T. is our winner, with the revisons!! :D And the contest is now over. :P I thank all of you who took part in this process, Moz, Radical Seed, Black spot hope it didn't miss anyone? Anyway thank you and now tell me how to go about getting the final revised files when Julie T. is done with the designs.
Thank you all!

Hi, Terri--

I'm glad you chose my design! I have a few revisions for you. I've also got a suggestion--you might want to stick with only two colors (purple and orange, orange and black, etc.). First, the extra color adds to printing costs, as you know. Second, it's my opinion that the third color doesn't add much punch to the design. That being said, I have included a version with all three colors here.

What do you all think of these designs? What would you like me to tweak?

Thanks a bunch,

Julie

Julie,

Thank you so much for all your time and your great talent. We appreciate it very much. :) We have decided to go with example number 2. What we'd really like is to keep the same font but see if you could curve it like in example number 3.

We really like the curved lettering but just feel the examples in 3 & 4 are too heavy and distracting. If you could do that for us, we're done! :P

Again, thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you soon so we can get the files transfered etc. We would like design number 2 in the three color as shown and a black and white version as well please. We need these in high resolution but I'm sure you know more about the resolution and formats than I do so I leave that to you.
Again, many thanks

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond but I've just returned from Arizona, my mom died. It's been a long few months.
Love the logos but when I clicked on the files to down load them, they are cut off very close to the lettering and the heads of the figures. So close that it looks cut off. Could you up load them again please and leave a bit more area around them?
