(Admin code added by Palmer - K581045H)

- Deadline March 30 -

We would like to develop a new American Air Ambulance logo which represents our professional, safe and fast air ambulance service. Specifically, we fly patients via jet, plane or helicopter from one place to another in order for them to obtain medical treatment.

Our current site is: http://www.AmericanairAmbulance.com

We would like for the new logo to fit in well with the current web color scheme and beused for letterhead, signage, etc.

The logo should convey Medical Care, Safety, Speed and Professionalism.

We would like a logo that conveys:
- Absolute professional ability
- A strong, reliable, safe company
- A large company with a great deal of experience
- Rock solid integrity, speedy but safe flights and caring flight crews.

The relevant facts are:

- We have a 100%, flawless flight safety record
- We have made over 25,000 medical transport flights
- We have flown patients well over 20 million miles
- There are 70+ planes in our patient flight network
- We have 20+ flight-coordinator operators who answer calls
- Our state of the art call-center is manned only by trained flight coordinators 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Customers will never get a machine or answering service.

Applicable images are attached. And, we have no objection to using any images in the public domain to enhance the logo. Pictures of planes, wings, medical snake/staff or the six-sided paramedic symbol can be strong starting points. The later are in the public domain and may be used in our logo.

Thank you,

Joe Wood
American Air Ambulance

P.S. Optionally, the logo could be superimposed upon a Learjet picture as if it were part of our fleet. This could be a full plane wrap, or just the logo on a tail fin.

Hey, here is my first shot at this one...

I was hoping for a 2 stage logo. One part that is succinct, compelling, basic and visual (which could be added to the tail of a plane and be easily recognizable - like Delta's or most other airlines). Plus, another part that pushes "AmericanAirAmbulance.com" to drive people to our site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Joe

No problem...I'll rework some stuff and think about the tail design...will post soon...

Thanks for feedback...

Is there a way to make the logo convey speed?

Maybe using the silhouette of a learjet?

MOZ -

Thanks. The first image is the most on track. But, We were hoping for something more succinct that can be on the tail of a plane and easily recognized, and conveys our business. Plus, have "American Air Ambulance" added below when necessary for letterhead, etc.

The first one is goo, but too much stuff to read from a distance.

Thanks. Could you plese revise based on the above?

Thanks all. The logos are on the right track. The ones shown below seem to be most on a track with that we're looking for. Mainly a logo that is basic, easily and quickly identifiable and says what we do.

The main thing is to convey our speed, professionalism and medical experience.

I drew up the first image below quickly based on what I had in mind and what you've presented so far. Do you think you can either work with this as a building block to a strong finished logo, or something else which conveys the same idea?

Thanks!!!

Baker-

Thanks for bringing in the wings.

You're right, it's a bit too detailed. We'd want it easy to understand and recognized even at 1/4 mile away.

Do you think you can keep the basics and make it much more simple - like keep the medical symbol and a simpler pair of wings all based on a deep blue, red and white?

thx!

Chris-

Thanks again. I truly apologize for the runaround, but maybe this is how this whole thing works. Is there some way you can play with the medic symbols and the wing so that it's even simpler, balanced and faster looking. Like maybe something below as a starting point, (please ignore my lack of talent!).

Thanks,

Joe

Diane @ Visual Sense -

Thanks!

Do you think you could include my later suggestion of the med/jet symbol into your first design and work from there? Something like below. This, because I think your design is great - conveys "American" and speed. The addition could get closer to the whole package.

Hi there...more tweakage :)

Bearing in mind that logos tend to last a company a long, long time, I feel that incorporating a lear jet or similar may one day force the logo to be outdated if the fleet were to change... :)

Shown below are my latest proposals with black and white equivalents for basic advertising etc.

GREAT! The first one is much more like we had in mind. It convevy American and Mediacal, and some speed.

Re: the learjet maybe getting outdated, good point. But, we can change at that time pretty easily.

If there were a jet tied in to the medical symbol, and wavy red lines it would be more american and also convey more speed ana "Air"

Carl -

Awesome. This is the simple type of thing we're looking for. Could you make the blue a deeper shade? Tweek it a little more to convey speed. And, for the plane, it's great to have the logo on the drawn fuselage like you have - we definitely need that. Can you also super-imposed it on a real learjet image (like we've seen in this forum with lawn trucks, cars, etc.) We'd want it to look like an actual painted plane.

thanks!

Joe

Eagle: just a quick question... in your experience, haven't you noticed that gradients present enormous problems (cost, etc.) when it comes to reproducing them in print? I ask, because this has been almost exclusively my experience with clients.

Eagle

Yes, they are more costly but in accordance with D.O. guidelines, I always provide spot colour ('plain') versions with my designs so that the contest holder can choose when going to print. Also, I get the feeling cost isn't a major issue since it's going on a fleet of aircraft! :P ;)

Joe saw versions of these logos in spot colour in the original thread. :)

Hi Joe

Inspiration : Wings of an eagle for it's speed,a plane used in negtive space of the A.....just because I got it to work and it looked really good :lol2: ;) ,also the red, white and blue for the amercian angle.

Hoping this is more suited for your needs and wants, please let me know.

Joe,

Changed the blue to about as dark as it gets.

Added stripes to make it more American.

Stripes also add movement and speed. Italicized name to add movement and speed also.

Carl...

Carl

And on the plane.

It doesn't look that good, but you get the idea of placement.

Added another element to the plane - a star and "AAA" near the tail section.

Diane -

Looks great. But our planes are all smaller and the silhouette should be of a Learjet size (like the one I put as a suggestion earlier).

I think that we'd look a bit safer without the sparks coming out of the back too :lol2:

Thanks very much.

Joe

Fabian -

That's right on line. The wings are just right. But, we'd prefer an image of the medic symbol to convey that part of the industry. (and, just by chance, the plane image is that of one which is too small of a plane to work in our industry. Could it be changed to a Learjet?)

Thanks

Carl
03-23-2004, 10:21 AM
Joe,

I will be happy to change the colors.

I did a little research for you and found the following at the Defense Technology Information Website:

"Federal Specification, Flag, National, United States of America and Flag, Union Jack," DDD-F-416E, dated November 27, 1981. It specifies the colors by reference to "Standard Color Cards of America" maintained by the Color Association of the United States, Inc.
These are:
Cable No. 70180 Old Glory Red
Cable No. 70001 White
Cable No. 70075 Old Glory Blue
In the Pantone system the colors are: Blue PMS 282 and Red PMS 193"

I have attached a color sample of these two colors.

I don't know how specific to the exact colors you want to be, or if you prefer to use the colors you have chosen.

Thanks!

The center and bottom ones are great. Could I ask 2 more things?

Please drop the '.com'. and there is a bit too much going on with the stars, red lines, etc. could you make it a little less busy. After that they should both definitely be ready for the finals.

FINAL CALL -

Our logo deadline is Tuesday March 30 at midnight. The winner may be asked to tweak a few things (to keep all entrants from having to do so the entire way through).

Following the Logo contest, we'll have a header contest which will incorporate the new logo. Please see the "Elements" forum on April 1 for that contest.

Thanks to everyone for their hard, talented work!!!
