(Admin code added by 2Square - 1202074X)
Deadline is one week, 3/29/03.
I am using oscommerce if that matters to you. I don't think it would matter what program we are using.
Current website is www.*****.com
Customer does not have a logo but would like to keep a fence associated with the name of the company.
Company has two lines of business, one is sales and installation of fencing products at homes. The other is the sale of fence pieces and parts or sections on the internet. Main product is vinyl fencing, although other types of fencing are used as well. The intention of this site will be to shift the site from it's current state of providing information to ecommerce.
Colors will be left to your imagination.
There are some colored button files located here if you don't want to make all the buttons, you could use a matching set from here....
The following boxes will be used....
Search
New Products
Catagories
Shopping Cart
The header section should be nice and focus on quality. It must also portray elegance.
There are no websites that the customer likes particularly.
If you have any questions please ask.

I will jump in first... just let me know if you want to see revisions.

wow dziner...nice work.... (personally diggin the colors)
Couple problems that I see that need to be adjusted before I present to the customer...
1) Products sold are vinyl. No wood, ornamental, or chainlink. Please try to use vinyl pictures because that is the focus. He will sell vinyl mailboxes and planting boxes, and pieces of vinyl fencing.
2) The catagories as they are appear to be difficult to work into oscommerce (please advise me if you know otherwise).
If you do a search for "closeout madness" on DO...you will see a similar oscommerce template that was done. If you just had a box with a graphic called Catagories, then I could make the CSS look like what you have done. I won't be able to use the icons in there though.
3) We need a place in the center of the page to display the products.
4) Please put the sales/installation/service/information as text hyperlinks so that the user can go to other pages on the site where I will fill them in, they will not be the focus of the site.
5) I think your photo works in the upper right if it were vinyl and not wood.
Thanks for a great entry, and I look forward to the changes so I can show my customer.

Ok, I am sure that there will be some things that I missed, but I wasn't sure about certain things (ie: icons for home/contact etc..) and how many products with how much info you wanted on home.
So let's call this a starting point for revisions.
Just let me know!

dzineworkz...
I am checking with an oscommerce specialist to find out if they layout you are proposing is possible to use in oscommerce. As soon as he gets back to me, I will update you. I won't be sending this to the client until I get word back...that way I don't get his hopes up.
Thanks for the changes...I like what you did with the photos on the lower right.
I will get back with you shortly.

I would like another design to forward to him as well, so I encourage other designers to jump in.
Thanks,
Matt

We are still open for entries or revisions until 3/29.
Thoughts were that dziner's template was bright and showed the product very well.
Contest is still open, if you would like to make revisions please do so with the comments about bright in mind.
For Dziner...
Please make the following changes for the customer to review....
Below the current blue bar...
place a smaller contrasting blue bar for text navigation links....
links should be about us, services, fence comparisions, customer reviews,
In the current blue box, please replace the 3 middle boxes (what's new, services, about us) with a single cart contents box.
I think that the color you are using for the boxes can be used for the new nav bar. Then do something different with the cart contents box.

Please bring the category section up to be even with the new nav bar
Please make the new nav boxes all the same color...whatever you think goes best....rollover effect to be a change in the background color, please.
Please add a copyright statement to the footer.
Thanks...

customer has provided me with links to his suppliers...
all photos may be used, he received email permission.
*****.com (where I get my arbors, pergolas, and fence)
****.com (my main distributor)
Also, any new designs need to be in by 4pm today, if possible, customer wants to make final decision tongiht.
DG, Jereme, can you make this deadline?
Matt Ward
04-02-2004, 05:53 AM
Ian...customer has asked to see photos from the distributors in your template...can you do this today?
Dziner, I asked specifically if anything needed changed to you latest and I received a no. I think he is waiting to see the new designs against Ians changes and your latest version.

ian....could you make them all vinyl...sorry....he is stressing the vinyl part of the business as it costs to most.
also, will it be easy to add navigation links for additional pages?
Any chance you will make those texts on background images of blue?
I'll change it now, everything below the menu is Search Engine friendly and Fast Loading. You can easily add Extra Menu items and yes the links are text and not images if thats what you mean.
To be Honest I'm not sure which are vinyl and which are not. I guess the middle top left is not vinyl and I've changed that. Any others?
Matt Ward

that is fine for now....
if chosen the winner will need to add an arbor and a trellis....and make a few photo changes...but it wont be much.
thanks.

Hi Matt,
Here is my entry.
Some thoughts:
On the middle part under the featured product can be more products or text.
On the bottom of left column can go a live help or some more contact information or just the phone number.
Just let me know if you want anything else presented on the page and I'll revise my entry.
Thanks ;)
