After a couple of weeks looking at the work shown here, I have decided this is definately the place to have you guys make me a logo for my lawn service company as well.
The company info is:
Shipman Enterprises
**Phone # removed for privacy, will be added once a design has been selected**
We do lawn care, weed control, irrigation and snow removal. I would like a logo that could incorporate these items if at all possible with our name and company phone number.
I am wanting the logo in full color to use on a website, but would also like to have it available in a limited number of colors (2-3) for truck signs, shirts and the like, and a black and white that we might use on our invoices etc. Of course all the same logo, just saved as full color, limited color and black and white.
I will post a link to one desige I have seen you guys do that I really like in just a minute as I figure out how to do it. the link is:
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showt...pic=3261&st=105 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/?showtopic=3261&st=105)
I like several of these as an idea starter.. but there are more outhere..
One last thing, I like grass and things, but no trees. We do not do landscaping, and don't want our customers getting that idea.
One last thing, I don't want to put a definate end date on here, because I often work very long hours. So I usually only get to check on this site in the evenings. I will post comments as quickly as possible, but don't get too upset if I miss a day due to excessive work.
Thank you very much in advance of the fine job I know you will do. I think you folks have done more lawn service logos that I have seen anywhere on the net in years and they most all look GREAT!

Here's a start.

RedLizard,
I like your start. What if the outer circle went all around the name? I am also very partial to blue. What if the Business name had some blues, or blue shading.. I like the start, let's see if you have any variations of what you have already...

Here's something else to consider...

Julie,
I could consider that, but I would like some sort of graphic other than our initials, also the phone number is a must. I plan to use this on the side of my trucks, etc. I realize I don't want it totaly cluttered with text, but I do need the number...

I noticed you posted one of my logos from a previous contest as being something you liked. Unfortunately, that logo did not make it to the final round and the previous contest is now closed. I'd like to enter this modified version for your contest. :)

I finally got around to the revision--do either of these work for you?

Red Lizard - I am more attracted to the bottom one. Could we change the flower to some form of something that looks like a weed? And could we switch the colors of the business name to the blue you used on the services and maybe the services to the green...
Diane - I like that logo, but I would like to change the spade to something different to represent maintenance, and I would kinda like to see a few different fonts for the business name to see what I like best on that.. overall don't change the swoosh.
Julie - I might be able to work with the top one, but I would rather see something along the lines of the others so far.. unless you have something else up your sleeve... Of your to new revisions, I would choose the top over the bottom one, but maybe sonething rather than a tree.

I've changed the rain drop to garden clippers. Also, here are a few different font samples. I have a ton of fonts to choose from, so let me know if there's a particular look you like (bolder, thinner, script, etc)...

Diane - I am really liking the bottom post the best. I would like you to replace the shovel with the water drop if you will, and lets work on the colors. I am concerned about the bottom line of text when the logo is shrunk to the top of an invoice for example. Let me see your ideas to make sure the wording in clear there when the logo is shrunk. I was also looking for 1 version of the logo to be full color to use on invoices and possibly my truck doors. Then this 2 color for other items when the cost of full color is too high. I would like to see the colors on this 2 color design in brighter blue (not royal, but a bright color blue) and a bright green and lets see what that looks like. My truck is a white 1 ton cab and chassi, so I can only use the doors for the logo. I want to make sure it stands out from the black 13 foot bed... otherwise.. I am really liking this design...

here's a few color combos... I trying to incorporate a "bright" blue, but when you go with bright blues, that usually also means "light" blue, which if we use a light blue and a light green, those color will get lost on white. You usually need to create some contrast for a logo to pop, using one dark color and one bright color. You also mentioned using the full color version for your truck. If you're going to use vinyl lettering for your truck, some adjustments will need to be made to the full color version below. Gradients can't be created using vinyl, and the full color version below uses many gradients. Let me know you thoughts... :)

Diane- Ok.. I'm loving the hole set. I am thinking for the top one to use on my truck (if the price is okay with my sign maker) so lets try one last thing on the top one... how about black outlines around letters, circles.. just to see if it makes it stand out even better. save a copy of that one first thought incase I want you to put it back the way it was...

Diane.. also thanks for the info on the truck lettering.. never done this before, so I will call the sign maker and ask them what he can and can't do..

Here you go. The logo with the black outlines. I adjusted some other colors also (changed the tag line to black and changed those fonts to something more readable at a smaller size.) Let me know what you think. And for the truck lettering, if they are using vinyl, which is the most common method, vinyl is like plastic that comes in solid colors, so gradient's couldn't be used. I'd just make eveything a solid color.

Diane - I love it.. Just like that... As far as I am concerned.. if no one else submits something in then next say 3 days that changes my mind, I will make you the winner... I am calling the sign co. tomorrow.. so I will let you know what if anything I need to do there....

My sign company can do full color logo for my truck, but like you said, the recommended I bring in a line art logo too for cost comparison. So we are in business.. If you can think of anything else for that logo, let me know.. I plan to end this on March 31st unless I get a flood of new logos or something....

Is anyone else planning to submit a logo or any more revisions???
I believe we will end this on March 30th if there will be no more submissions...

Diane -
Since no one else submitted anything. I am declaring you the winner...
Let me know how to get the files I need...
I need the full color logo that you have as the final draft in all possible file extensions. The sign company requested I bring the file in EPS, TIF and W-Illistrator (what ever that is). Plus I will need GIF, AND JPG and what ever other popular versions you think I might need.
If you will give me the same files as above in a solid color version (without fading), and a black and white version.
I will down load them and burn the all to a disk so I will have them for whatever the printers, t-shirt people, graphic's people and so on will need.
Thank you so much for the wonderful work. I appreciate all the hard work you did for me..
Brett
to everyone else.. thanks for your entries.. all of them were good but I had to pick someone to win.. thank again...

Got it, thanks!
Brett - I'm working on the 2-color and b/w version now and will post those in a bit. Where would you like the final files sent? I can package them all up in a zipped file and put them on my ftp server for you to download and then send you the link for retrieval.

Congratulations Diane,
I am so happy that your design won so quickly, after all the work that went into it for Advanced Services.
