Hi,

This is a contest for a professional logo for a new wholesale telecom company.
The company buys and sells wholesale termination minutes for landline and cellular communications worldwide.

Initial entries should be received by March 30 - We hope to wrap up the context quickly thereafter.

The company is business unit of a successful satellite company.
The text that goes with the logo should include both the name EdgeLink as well as “powered by noname satellite Inc.”

The company’s customers are other carriers as well as calling card operators, internet café operators and telecom venture companies.

Logo should work well as part of a header on the website as well as on a business card.

Logo should say: efficient, focused, quick, reliable.

Image: The logo needs to convey a corporate and professional appearance rather than a cute or internet-looking one.
Colors: use corporate colors.
Audience: The audience (customer base) is international – English will not be a first language of many of them.
Deliverables:
- logo on its own
- logo with the name of the website integrated (with name to the right or below or both)
- transparent background version

The message is that this company will give you the edge, rather than that someone us going off the edge!

Thanks for the entries so far.

Jason - This is the entry we like most so far.
We still feel we need something a bit more graphical (its missing something). Simple professional but not boring. We see you did something with the K but it doesnt really look like anything in particular. Maybe a Sat dish ? maybe you can do something with the dot on the I..

Mowling - professional looking but too many capital letters. The logo is nice but it does not look like it was designed for Edgelink.

Cadii - This one didn't do it for us. I think we need something more corporate colorwise and with letters that are more standard looking.

Looking forward to seeing more entries!

If you have examples of other logos that you like or feel fit with what you looking for, that would help.

Also, when you say letters that are more "standard" looking, are you referring specifically to the stylized "E" or the entire font treatment in general?

And last, what colors do you favor.

All this information will help everyone here get you exactly what you want!

I included something that suggests "the edge". The idea came from here (http://www.gemini.edu/science/disks.html). It's the center image that gave me the idea.

Our comments...

Eagle: nice try, but it looks more like a sporting goods store logo.
Carlos: not quite right, not corpoate enough
Luc: We like how it looks, but not exactly the right concept.
Jason: the rocket isn't quite right for us -

General Comments:
- Bold colors are working better for us - especially Red and Blue.
- Please try to add an interesting image that suggests links - edge didn't seem to work that well.

A different approach...

The symbol represents a cellular signal emitting from it's source (all the way to the edge) in a form which can be likened to the face on a clock (there's your 'minutes')...it's global too!... ;)

I know you probably have many irons in the fire as they say. I had asked you a couple questions after the feedback from my first post. I was hoping to get some more direction from you so that I don't make the same mistakes again. I would rather make new mistakes! :D

Anyway -

My first post you indicated that the Font wasn't standard enough. Was it the stylized "E" itself or the entire font treatment.

Also, you asked for Corporate Colors and in watching the thread develop, it doesn't seem like anyone is hitting the mark. Do you have colors in mind or at least a palette to push us in the right direction. Anymore corporate colors could be a whole range depending on the business set the company is in.

And, do you have any other logo examples which would give us a better idea of the style you are looking for?

I would like to enter another submission and knowing these things would greatly enhance my ability to get you the exact thing you are looking for.

Thanks for you questions.

Corporate to us means blue, red, green - your earthy shades are pretty but they dont convey the image we were looking for.

The trapezoidal 'E' did not work for us because it does not look like something you would see in the logo of a company that bills millions of dollars a month (telecoms do this - though the profits are much smaller..)

Lastly, I don't want to point to other logos that we like because experience has shown that when I say I like a certain logo the designers all create logos similar to the one I pointed to and the idea is to get something unique.

Great Entries!

We want to choose 3 finalists later today.Here are our comments on the latest submissions:

Eagle: nice logo - the circle image looks like the flag of an Asian country - we are still deciding about this.

Raja: Great Work! We really like this, though it is not yet the complete logo. Can you create a version where under it we see the complete name EdgeLink or perhaps the word link superimposed somewhere. We also want to see how it looks with a powered by noname sattelite...

RadicalSeed: Not bad - but it is not what we ae looking for. Again the issue is that it looks like a local company not an international company that will be billing millions. (I have no idea if that makes any sense to you - it may be something specific to telecom that I have in mind)

Jason: The latest one is really good. We don't have any change request for that one at this time.

Sorry for the delay - these designs are great and we are having a tough time making our decision. At this point, please, no new entries.

Comments:

Raja: yours is appealing and professional but it does not work in the word LINK anywhere.

Caddi: Nice work too - perhaps in blue it woudl be more powerful for us.

DesignGeneral - nice, but not what we're looking for. It looks a little like a Ninja supply company logo.

Jason: We like the logo with the E and L joined in a square - only issue is that the E looks like an F - is there a way to have the L and the E share that piece rather than the L taking all. Maybe blending teh colors and having one bleed into the other?

Looking forward to making a decision later today or at latest tomorrow.
