(Admin code added by Palmer - W6834272G)
I need a logo or series of logos that will cover the following setup. I will be selling quality handmade greeting cards and Wedding invitations online sourced from many suppliers.
I will have a main website www.webbselect.co.uk with two others feeding into it. www.selectgreetings.co.uk and www.selectinvitations.co.uk. The whole business is about allowing people to select quality cards and invitations and potentially other products.
Products that are not available elsewhere. The logo will mainly be used online but also paper based for marketing purposes. It could be either a logo that encompasses the three websites or a series of three logos with a common theme (select).
Please bear in mind that I may wish to develop a header and banner from the logo(s)
Important pointers. I will try below to reiterate clearly the nature of the logos.
The business is Webb Select
Webb Select will have two websites - selectgreetings.co.uk and selectinvitations.co.uk
The prominent logos on each website will be selectgreetings.co.uk and selectinvitations.co.uk on the relevant sites.
Therefore in effect there will be three logos - maybe with just a change of text. I will be launching the selectgreetings site v soon. In a way the most seen logos will be the selectgreetings.co.uk and selectinvitations.co.uk logos. However when someone does see the WebbSelect logo they will instantly recognise the style as being select.......
Many thanks ;)
Any questions let me know.
Eddy
a attachment would be handy

B) Thanks John
Initial Comments
Looking for something a bit more dynamic. Perhaps involving cards, paper. Conveying quality etc
Also don't really like the choice of font for the 'Webb'.
Look forward to seeing some more designs.
Any questions anyone please ask.

Hi Eddy,
This is an idea that just kind of popped into my head.
Please let me know what you think.

Thanks for the designs
j-design
Could the text be larger in proportion to the text? also Webb not Web
Pixelbreak
Not sure about the rings. Also font choices seem too different.
Is it possible to somehow convey card, paper etc with the logo? Some 3D element to the text.
Not quite what I am looking for yet.
Please keep trying

The "s" is the main focal point.

Chelle, quite like the second one but wonder how it would work with the select greetings and select invitations. Prefer a different font. Please keep trying
Palmer, difficult to suggest for this one. I see what you are trying to do with the papyrus font etc. Not sure the colours represent quality and style. The envelope could be more modern/abstract.
j-design, don't really like this one. A bit hard to read and not very dynamic.
Please all keep trying.
Pointers - The word 'select' has a double meaning. Select because people can select products and select because only 'select' products are available. This combined with a perception of quality products on a modern web based business.
More pointers the logo could be varients such as Webb Select | Webb Select Greetings | Webb Select Invitations
Many thanks for your efforts :)

Just a quick question... is there a preferred style of font you would like or have in mind?
A brainstorming session.
I tried to convey quality through the text and the arrows pointing upwards and the envelope to show the stationary aspect.
Any bits in particular you like/hate (hopefully more of the first  )

Hi
Chelle, I think it is the way the text is presented that conveys the quality. I think John has acheived this with a serif font but I would also like to see quality represented in quality snas serif fonts - basically nothing too fancy.
John, quite like what you have done here. Do like the envelope (the one next to the logo) you will be pleased to know. Would like to see how this could work with greetings and Invitations as almost interchangable subsections to the main logo.
I like the byline idea - perhaps the final logo could incorporate this or something different. Suggestions welcomed. Eg
Quality greeting cards and invitations
Quality products, quality service
Select Products for your selection (yuk)
Suggestions welcome
Appreciate all your efforts
All advice and ideas welcomed.
PS on another matter would you guys be able to handle a bilingual logo for another post? (welsh and english)

Another Pointer for all
Please bear in mind this logo will mainly be seen online so it must look good online and sit well on a site.
Would like to see some shadow or 3d effects to give it some complexity or depth.
Please keep trying I know we will get there soon with your help
Many thanks.
Eddy ;)

Cool, Where about in Wales are you from, both me and Eddy are based in Wales too, small world ;)
Have a couple of different ideas incorporated into the logos below. Did a couple of colour samples for the envelopes and incorporated a shadow into the third logo. I went for a more 'vague' type shadow as i think run of the mill drop shadows wouldn't look as professional.
As always, feel free to ask for any colour changes, even if its just to experiment.

Sorry for the delay everyone. Can't make up my mind!
:help: HELP! Like Chelle's middle logo and John's middle logo with the orange envelope. Have to admit though I am not 100% happy with either.
Not sure what to do now as I need a logo like yesterday!
Any suggestions.

OK
Here goes - off the top of my head.
Everyone I have asked is split down the middle on these two designs.
Chelle - The logo just seems a bit dated. Can't quite put my finger on it. I do like the different coloured card though (selected). Doesn't feel dynamic enough for the web. Sorry if I am not being much help.
John - Like the envelope and the orange shades. Again just feel it hasn't got enough about it.
Help :help:
Really appreciate all you efforts
chelle

I will keep the coloured section, and see if I cant make something a bit more dynamic so that its more suitable for the web.
Do you have any specific colours in mind other than using the gold?
acideddy
04-08-2003, 10:40 PM
:) Thanks for looking at this again for me chelle. The colours are OK actually, gold included. Can't think of a better colour combination really. What I meant was that I liked having the one card that was in a different colour to the rest.
Look forward to seeing your efforts.
Eddy
Ill put in a couple of ideas later on today.
here is a logo i made for this contest...
i tried my best to make it different to the other entries since you didnt seem too happy with them
i saved it in vector format so it can be resized without compromising quality

Chelle,
Quite like the last one. Can you try something for me please. I will make a decision very soon honest!
Bear with me please!
Going back to your first entries with the yellow central card with the rounded boxes could you experiment more with it? Eg keep the same shape box behind but have somekind of rugged/torn paper surround to it. Or perhaps even an envelope behind.
Can you produce the logo with using selectgreetings.co.uk.
Many thanks
Eddy :)

Still like yours but the changes don't really inspire me. Still really like the envelope.
Can you experiment with some different fonts for me please.

A three pronged attack. Logo represents not only the letter "W" which is very important as that is the main intitial. It also serves as an envelope and also as a computer cursor, which illustrates the online nature of the company.

Quite like the envelope - bit XP which may not be a bad thing. Can you play with the text for me. Experiment.
J-Design - Quite like it but maybe too simplistic.

Maybe something like this?
Heres a range of font styles with your icon. Let me know if you would like more font options and if so, which of the current ones are closest. eg. professional fonts, futuristic/modern fonts.etc.

Chelle
I chose Chelle's in the end. The last post of hers (see below) just struck me. Its crisp, clear and yet is sophisticated to project the complex requirements of my logos in its various forms.
Chelle, Will need a couple of minor mods.
Many thanks everyone for all of your help.
