Just to say I was recommended your site and I am very very impressed! I am setting up my own Events Company at the moment and in the next couple of months I will be running quite a few comps.
Also hopefully when I get tons of responses I will be able to recommend all of your amazing designers to my new clients!
Keep up the good work guys, this is a great resource with fantastic talented people and I cant wait to start posting my design breifs asap!
Take care. K

Thanks Michael

Can anyone tell me whats the best way of getting as many of you creative bods to reply to my future contests? That may be a cr*p question and I hear you all cry "SHOW US THE MONEY!" but for companies like my own which is still starting up and cash is a prob are there any suggestions? You know times of the your when you guys may be quieter with work or by me promising tons more future work  WHICH I REALLY CAN PROMISE! by the way - not only from myself but hopefully from the clients I am marketing to ... from what Ive seen so far Im recommending you left right and centre anyhoos... :D

Right enough rambling from me...

Take care everyone, cant wait to get posting my contests asap!

You are doing a good job of boosting egos already.

I know I try to accomodate when someone asks me specifically to enter a contest through a PM.

It is also nice to see your work used as a reference within a thread. It's that ego boost again!

One thing that I always like is when a contest holder shows flexibility and openness when asking for designs. Less restrictions seem to fan the flames of creative energy. Then you also get to see ideas that you may never have even considered.

Carl made a few great points.
If I may add...
A descriptive initial post and feedback for the designers. Those are on the top of my list.

I know I try to accomodate when someone asks me specifically to enter a contest through a PM.

I disagree with this. I think all the designers here get enough of these that to me they tend to look like a cheap ploy to garner attention unless it's obviously personalized. I.e. "I really liked your second entry in the such-and-such contest". That shows that you're interested in me as a designer and you feel my style is appropriate to your company. Otherwise it looks like a form letter begging for attention.

I agree with Blackspot: feedback, feedback, feedback. There's nothing worse then seeing entries get completely ignored by the client and that's a sure way to get some people to not enter more designs. If you don't like an entry, I prefer a simple "no thank you" instead of silence. Be specific whenever possible.

I'd add the following:

Consistant feedback - Show interest in your contest and the designers will too. If you go a week without commenting the designers will work on more pressing issues and your design will get pushed to the back burner. Try to check in every couple of days at least.

A case of my mind thinking a complete thought and my typing only hitting a highlight. I was trying, through using the word "specifically" to say that a personalized request gets my attention.

I haven't been around very long, but I have gotten a couple "I love your designs, please enter my contest". With no mention of any of my work. The PM in that instance hasn't pushed me in one direction or another.

Good Luck!

As an artist myself, feedback helps immensely and I feel happy when people are wanting to see more.

Even if I don't get the prize money, I feel better knowing that there may be a potential future with the client.

Anyways I'm not a member yet, just trying to empathize what happens on my other freelances! ;)

I've started something now!..No seriously its great to have everyones input, not only for my own interest but also for all of the other people new to this site, and also new in business.

In an ideal world, and budgets permitting, everyone would like to offer huge cash incentives for your work but realistically when starting out this isnt possible so to have your suggestions and ideas on what incentivises you all to respond is excellent.

Thanks very much, hope everyone is having a good easter. :)
