This is just a suggestion for the moderators/owners of DesignOutpost.com
I have been lurking for awhile on the forums and now I even have my first contest underway. I like to see what is going on within the other contests and one thing that seems to be asked over and over at the conclusion of picking a winner is "Palmer, now what do I do?" or "What's the next step?"
Perhaps you should consider doing one or more of the following:
- Create a "Contest Ending Guide" (or named something) that is posted at the top of the design forums similar to the Contest Guidelines. This guide would explain the what's, when's who's, to-do's, not-to-do's, expectations, FAQ's...you name it in regards to concluding a contest. It can be updated as more FAQ's and recommendations pop-up.
- In addition to posting the "Ending Guide" within the forums, I would recommend that after the payment has been verified and Palmer (or whoever) posts the contest admin code on the forum that an email is sent to the Contest holder that either contains the info in the guide or a link to it. That way a contest holder knows in advance the steps for concluding a contest.
I guess I look at it this way...hopefully the site will continue to grow and I imagine the designers, moderators, Palmer, etc. are going to get tired answering the same thing at the conclusion of each contest by a new user. Save some time and try to notify the contest holder of the "How To's" prior to conclusion. Plus...all contest holders will receive the same consistent message.
Just my two cents.
