Hi,
The challenge of this contest is to QUICKLY create a sensitive, friendly and appealing site while making it appropriate for the serious nature of the subject. We need initial entries by this Wednesday!
Abstract: This contest is for 2 HTML template pages – A main page and a 2nd level page. Deliverables include the 2 HTML templates and all required graphics. The prize is $350.
Scope of Deliverables:
- Two HTML templates, as per Design Guidelines, below.
- Associated CSS style sheets for headers/signpost text, for textual navigation elements, for body text, footer, etc.
- Buttons and/or Tabs as required by design (also see general design guidelines).
Contest Rules: Designers should submit designs for the first page by April 28th. We hope to choose a winner by the end of this week.
Website Name: “Lean on Me”, Cancer Through a Carer’s Eyes
URL: www.lean-on-me.net (http://www.lean-on-me.net)
Description of Website: Lorraine Kember’s husband Brian was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She has written a moving and inspirational true story of a courageous man’s battle with mesothelioma cancer and his wife’s emotional journey as she supports him throughout his ordeal. Interspersed with diary excerpts and poems she penned along the way, this very personal account depicts the depth of their love for each other, the sense of helplessness she experienced on his diagnosis and her growing strength as she comes to realize that there is much she can do to improve the quality of his life.
This website tells a little about this story and offers readers to buy the book Lean on Me that tells the story.
Type of impression the site makes: The site should be warm and sensitive, it should look friendly and not businesslike. It should have curves in it and not all rectangles and boxes
Audience: Family and friends of people dealing with terminal cancer of a loved one.
Colors: I will leave this up to the designers.
Design Guidelines:
- Please optimize for 800X600 screens
- Most site viewers will be on dialup – so graphics cannot be too heavy.
- You can use JavaScript, but not Java or Flash.

1) A menu with the following items:
- A Must Read / Home
