Greetings.

My name is Matthew. Iam preparing to launch a Web site for teenagers and young adults interested in the performing and fine arts.

I need a postcard to promote the launch of the Web site. The card size is flexible. It could be four color, two color, or even black and white. I will leave that to you. Remember, we are trying to appeal to a teen audience.

I think the card should be edgy but not obscene, sophisticated but fun, and artsy but not too young. Our target audience is 14-18 year olds. I want something that will grab their attention when we hand it to them.

Thank you in advance for your work. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

All the best,
Matthew

At N2Arts.com, you’ll find articles about how to improve your abilities, advice about breaking into the professional world, and tips on “making it” as a paid artist, actor, dancer, or writer. And of course, you’ll meet new friends who share your interests in the arts.

There are message boards and scheduled chat sessions that make it easy to meet new people and chat with professional artists. And make sure you register for an online gallery. There’s no better way to share your work with the world.

Hi Matthew -

A couple quick questions:

1. do you have a logo or other graphics that you require to be included?
2. how do you need the final product delivered? Quark, Photoshop, PDF, etc.? Mac or PC?
3. there seems to be A LOT of copy. Do you require all of it to be included or can we edit?
Thanks,
Mike

You do not need to use the logo we are using on the site. It was created for the Web and may not be appropriate for the postcard. But our name should be capital "N" "2" capital "A" rts. N2Arts.com.

I would prefer not to edit the text. You can make all of the Into Theater, Into Dance, etc. smaller. Or we can use a bigger postcard size. I can go up to 6" x 8.5" for the postcard. If there really is too much text, let me know and I will edit it down. But let's try to get it in.

Photoshop would be ideal. Mac is prefered.

Thanks,
Matthew

I was thinking about the text for the postcard. It is a lot of copy. Feel free to edit it down. Try to capture the important elements. I will also edit the copy in the original post. You can see what I do and use that as a guide.

Thanks.

Hi Matthew, Here's my entry. I've managed to retain all of your text while keeping a clean look. :) Please note that the light blue line is only there to show the trim area and will not print.

My design incorporates a 4-color front with a 1-color back for economical printing costs.

Here's my revision based upon your email

Can you swap out the photo of the guy with a photo of a teen girl? Most of our users will be female.

Mike didn't reply to the email. He is referring to an email sent to him by glasser. The client must be unaware that that is breaking the rules. I will contact him and let him know to post his comments on the forum. Remember the other rule... no accusations... conflicts are to be handled privately.

Thanks

Hello everyone.

I apologize for contacting one of the designers via email. I was unaware it was against the rules. The designer informed me immediately that I violated the rule. Lets move on with the competition. It was my fault and it will not happen again.

The good news is that I will be purchasing two designs so I have some variety. I will be selecting the two winners by the end of next week.

Thanks,
Matthew

Matthew, Here's another "notice me!!" look. Will definately catch someone's eye in a stack of mail. Like my previous design, this postcard is 8.5" x 5.5" and 4/1.

The girl image is lowrez (obviously). I'll get the hirez dropped in if this layout is of interest to you. Let me know if you'd like to see any changes.

Here's an update with some of the photos switched out to show each activity on the front.
The back is done as a 2-color spot (black and 485), no bleed. Full color front. I believe if you're mailing these out bulk you'll need 3.5" - 4" of space on the right side of the back for mailing info (postal regulations).

Hello Everyone.

I am going to be picking the two winners tomorrow at noon (PST). If you have any other concepts to submit, please do it before tomorrow at noon. I really like what I have seen so far. You are a very talented bunch. I am very impressed with the quality of the work. Thanks for your hard work.

All the best,
Matthew

Hi Matthew
I've been polling all the young girls in the neighborhood (scary since I'm a 45 year old fat bald man!) trying to get intouch with what they like????? I might enter one more. Have you seen the cell phone commercial with the girl who won't stop talking IT'S TRUE!!!! These kids will wear you out!

I have seen that commercial. Did the teen girls braid your hair while they talked your ear off?

Dropped in a cooler chick. BTW - I know some of the images repeat but I did that for time reasons. If selected I can replace them with additional faces.

Thank you to all of the talented designers who participated in this contest. I am very impressed with the high quality of the work. It was a tough decision to pick the winners as all of your designs are excellent. But I had to pick two winners.

The envelope please...

The winners are...

1. ElKootcho and his masking tape design

2. VisualSense aka Diane Foley for her revised design.

I'd like to make a few revisions to each of those designs before we go to print. I'll talk to you about those in the revisions forum.

Thank you to the rest of you. I will have a lot more work once my Web site is up and running. Look for future contests.

All the best,
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
I'm glad you like the postcard design. Here are the requested revisions. Let me know how you like the text left justified there on the front. I also took off the address lines and the box I had for the postage area on the back. Let me know if you want anything in there. I figured having in blank gave you more options when mailing.

Here's the text justified to the right... (made the text a tad larger also).
Let me know if there's any other revisions...
