(Admin code added by Palmer - HR1566300)

I just finished my logo contest yesterday and I’m not ready for the next step. :D
I will need a business card, letterhead, envelope, and 2 yard signs done. The two yard signs are for different purposes. The 4 color logo will be a sign that we post in front of a clients house while doing work. The 1 color sign will be for road side advertising.

The logo files can be found here: http://www.servicepropainters.com/logos.zip
If you need any additional formats please let me know.

I will need to following info included in the designs:

Here are a few to get you started. If any catch your fancy I'll work up matching yard signs.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for entering the contest and sorry for the delay. The holiday threw me off.

I like the last set that you did, but not the other ones.
Letterhead: I may change my mind before the end of this thing but I don't think I need a watermark on my letterhead. I will be printing estimates on this letterhead and I don't think it would look right.
Business Card: The third business card looks good but I would also like to see a few more variations. This one you did for cityscapes looks nice: http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOu...tyscape0405.gif (http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOutpost/cityscape0405.gif)
Also, I need a 1 color back for this business card as well. I was thinking of an all blue back with a white logo with the url servicepropainters.com under it. Make sense? So instead of saying Service Pro Painters it would have the URL without the www. I'm also up for anything you can throw at me.

Yard Sign: I called my printer today. The signs are actually 18" Tall x 24" Wide. Sorry for the confusion. The main thing for the yard signs is that they are eye catching and easy to read.

Any other questions let me know. Thanks!

I am proposing a theme of using the strokes in the bottom right of all your stationary. :D

Here is the business card front.

RadicalSEED: Your yard sign looks great and is very eye catching but the phone number and URL isn't big enough.
The 1 color yard sign can be dark blue or whatever. It doesn't have to be black... just a thought.
Also, can I see some other stationary designs from you? I perfer when there is more color used. Maybe the right side could be solid blue. It catches your eye more.

ElKootcho: The last business card and stationary look great although I may want to edit the back of the card a little. I think the url is too small and the logo might be too big (thoughts?).
Can I see some yard signs from you?

NOTE: Nothing needs to match! I don't care if my 4 color yard sign matches my 1 color yard sign. Or if my business card looks like anything else. Thanks!

ElKootcho: Could I see another version of the last business card you entered? I was looking at #2 here: http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOu...st/VH_BC_01.gif (http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOutpost/VH_BC_01.gif) and I was wondering if we could do something similar? I think that would make it possible for the logo to be bigger. Right now the logo seems a bit small.

Also, how would it look if the logo was on the right and the info was on the left. It may look strange.... not sure.

Thanks! :)

More comments for everyone to come but real quick...

ElKootcho: I like the new stationary and yard signs. Is there anyway I can see the color one with a white background too just to compare? I do like how the yellow grabs your attention though.

Thanks!

ElKootcho
06-02-2004, 07:21 PM
Here it is with the white. I went with the yellow for the "Look at me!" factor. Also, ask your printer, but it may be possible to print the one color sign on yellow stock to get a more noticable result. Again, it depends on your printer and the substrate being used but it may be orth looking into.

Ladylumini: Thanks for all the designs. I'm really focused on the business cards and yard signs because thats what I'll be using the most. Your business cards are nice but I'm looking for something with a little more color (Blue). I just want it to catch peoples eyes when I post this card on a bulletin board somewhere. Have any other business card layouts or yard signs?

ElKootcho: You rock! The business cards and yard signs are looking great. Thanks for the tip about the yard signs. I agree that the yellow works well for the one color sign but the color sign will go in front of peoples homes and I want it to look classy.
Couple of changes.
On the yard sign, can we use a Taller font or streach the font for the URL? Just seems like the URL could be a little bigger.
Also, could you show me the yellow one with a yellow URL since that is what I will be using. Right now its white.
Last, can you convert the number to a 1800 format. I decided to go that route.
For the business cards. I like the last design but its hard for me to tell how big the font is? Is that readable?
finally, can I see a few different versions for the back? I want to see what you can come up with too.

Thanks!

The type on the card is a Medium weight condensed font at 9.5 pt. Should be easy to read.

I like the business card but not the letter head. Can you try another design with the blue bar on the bottom or top. I'm not a fan of it on the side. It seems a little off balanced.

Is there any way I can see an actual size business card? Or at least as close as you can get? Its still hard for me to tell when its shrunk like that. I'm looking at it on a 1024x768 resolution if that helps.

On the sign... I'm probably just being picky but could you add a 1-800-xxx-xxxx number to it so I can see how the whole number will look. I'm thinking that you may have to move the logo and number up a bit once the number is added. Not sure.

Thanks!

Were getting close!

I printed the business card and I'm still concerned about the font. We have a bunch of retired people down here in Florida and I don't want it to be too small. Can we make the font just a little bigger? I realize that you may have to shrink the logo a bit to do this.

Once thats done could I get another PDF to print?

THANKS!

ElKootcho: So sorry for the delay. I was waiting on the phone company to give me the final 1-800 number so you could prepare the files.

Of course... in case it wasn't totally obvious you win.

I will post all the final details on what I need tomorrow.
In the mean time please don't place this in the revisions forum. There are other people who need to look at these designs to help me decide on the final touches.

Thanks...

Mike: A couple of questions for you.
What formats will you be providing me?
Also, what is the exact size of the file you have created for the business cards and does it include space for the bleed (I have no idea what I'm talking about BTW  )

I've been looking around the net for the best prices and Vistaprint.com seems to have it. Do you have any experience with them to know about their quality?

If I do use them they seem to have VERY Specific design sizes listed here: http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/ns/customer_c...spx?#size_chart (http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/ns/customer_care/artwork_specs.aspx?#size_chart)

Answer a few of these questions for me and I'll work on finalizing the edits and business card content.

Thanks...
Nathan

The cards were designed in Adode Illustrator and can be delivered as EPS, AI, TIF, PDF, whatever your printer needs. Currently there are no bleeds but they've been left out for presentation purposes and will be included in the final files. (Bleeds are where the color travels off the edge of the page to ensure that there is no white margin around the edge of the card).

I've seen good cards come out of Vistaprint, although I haven't used them extensively, and they seem to be one of the online printers that is more highly regarded. If you don't have a local printer to use then they will work out fine. If you decide to go with Vistaprint then of course I will build the final files to their specifications. That is no problem.

Ok, this whole business card printing thing has me all out of whack!

I've read a few bad reviews on vistaprint.com at epinions.com and other sites.
Have you ever heard of http://www.overnightprints.com ?

If not do you have any recommendations for me?

Once again, sorry for the delay. I need this info for the final file format.

Thanks!

I don't know anything about Overnightprints.com other than the fact that I've ordered samples from them in the past which I've never received.

I've seen good samples come out of PSPrint.com (http://www.psprint.com/affiliate/index.asp?offer=99&affiliate=CD731) and I've ordered some short run cards from them in the past and have been satisfied.

Alright Mike, I think were set.

I want to use this business card: http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOu...ePro_cards2.gif (http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOutpost/ServicePro_cards2.gif)
There is just one edit I would like to see. Please add www. To the URL on the back of the card.

I would like to use this letterhead and Envelope: http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOu...ceSideWave3.gif (http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOutpost/ServiceSideWave3.gif)
On envelope, could we right justify the address? Let me know if this doesn’t make sense but it looks like the logo is right justified but the addresses is centered.

And finally, these yard signs:
http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOu...post/signs4.gif (http://www.smallbusinessstyle.com/DesignOutpost/signs4.gif)
The background on the yellow one will just be transparent right? Then I can just pick the card stock I want?

I will need all files in EPS, AI, PDF, JPEG, PNG and TIF formats.

I looked at the company you sent over and they seem a little pricey. I’m going to go ahead with overnightprints.com.
Here is how the business cards need to be edited: http://www.overnightprints.com/main.php?A=bc_specs

For all the contact info CHECK YOUR PM BOX. I’d rather not post all the details.

Thanks! You did a great job!

BUSINESS CARDS: I'm sending a PM with a link to download the business cards files. PLEASE PROOF READ THEM CAREFULLY TO MAKE SURE THAT THE INFO IS ACCURATE.

If you or the printers have any trouble then just let me know.

LETTERHEAD/ENVELOPE: Will you be using the same printer?

SIGNS: Yes, they will be transparent so you can select any color stock and the can print on top of that. I'll have these available for download shortly.
