Okay.. this is a question/observation, but I've always chuckled when I run across this. I'd love to hear other's thoughts on it.

I've recently done searches on Website Design companies and always chuckle when I look through their portfolio to see some of their work. It never fails but there always seems to be a customer that also is in the business of building websites.

Okay, now is it me, or why would a company that is trying to sell it's services as a website designer have another company build their site???
Now, this isn't like a doctor requiring another doctor operate on them....
Maybe it's because they want to see a fresh look and it's easier to be unbiased when someone else does the work?

I don't know... just think it's rather strange and makes me chuckle.

It'd be kind of like a pianist hiring another pianist to play at a social event.

Anyone's thoughts?

I think you might find that these designs are usually designed for people who are good at managing and dealing with clients and have worked out an agreement with the designer that if they design the site they will get the work.

I have been approached for similar deals.

Now, that makes sense. I have to say I'm in a similiar situation I guess.... I'm good at retirement planning, but hate selling or bringing in new clients... so, I work for someone else that does that and I provide the planning.

Makes total sense now....

Thanks for the insight!
