Here are some more details that the company felt might benefit the designers:

Company Profile:
· Company is a small, family-owned and operated business located specializing in a variety of handmade items with a primary emphasis on all-natural, handmade soaps.
· Company is dedicated to providing exceptional service and unique high-quality products.
· Company was founded on the concept of providing the most luxurious products for bath, body and home at affordable prices.
· Company has pride in product quality because of the personalized attention given to product creation.
· Company makes products with only the very best, FDA approved ingredients enriched with high-quality essential oils, skin-safe fragrance oils or flavor oils.
· All products are created in small, individual batches then individually packaged and labeled. (Company is currently using a high-quality inkjet printer. Will upgrade to color laser before using 3rd party printing companies.)
· Company has done a lot of market research and can promise, products are never tested on animals!
· Company could potentially have soap products and the winning logo displayed/sold nation-wide within a year, if not sooner.

Product-line Profile:
Today there are very few true soaps in the traditional sense on the market. You might recognize these soaps as products marketed with characteristics such as "pure". "True" soaps are regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, not FDA, and do not require ingredient labeling.

Most body cleansers on the market today are actually synthetic detergent products and come under the jurisdiction of FDA. Some of these detergent products are actually marketed as "soap" but are not true soap in the common and legal definition of the word. (ie. The D*ve “Beauty Bar”.)

If a cosmetic claim is made on the label of a "true" soap or cleanser, such as moisturizing or deodorizing, the product must meet all FDA requirements for a cosmetic. If a drug claim is made on a cleanser or soap, such as antibacterial, antiperspirant, or anti acne, the product is a drug.

Dang ... you're quick :tup: and talented! :clap:

Oh, I did forget to mention one important fact, that will help all of you wonderffully talented designers ... I am the founder of the company and I built it from the start in my kitchen. So, even though I will be getting feedback from some clients, friends, family, etc. you don't have to worry about the "back and forth" communications with clients. If this contest turns out well, I will become a DO reseller to offer your services to my web clients, if such a need arises.

Now, back to the grind ...

Can you lighten up the wings to have more of a creamy tone?

Can you deepen the green a slight bit, or maybe change the undertone a bit?

Can I see it with the bubble and text, not overlapping each other?

On my screen, the purple/blue is too close to blue for me. (I am not typically a fan of blue, but don't let that hold you back. You may just knock my socks off with a blue influenced design!)

And can I see what the entire thing would look like with the font of the "bath & body"?

GREAT work ... keep it up!!!

Dear Artists,

Would it be of more help if I told you that you can use any colors, except for the typical yellow and black that you see on yellow jackets (ie. GA Tech's logo)?

And if I like a general color you've used, but might want a deeper shade, should I try to provide you with an RGB or CMYK configuration?

Please, tell me how to work with you. I want this to be a FUN project for all of us! And surely don't want to work against you or be a nag! ;)

Luv,
Jen

Hey hun ... Love it! :tup:

Except for one minor detail ... the Yellow and Black. :tdown: I do not want the typical Yellow and Black colors. Their just so ... typical! :D

Can you provide a different color sample (of your choosing) for us to review?

Especially love the way you put it on a bar soap wrapper and a Business Card!

I know it's day one, but any other's in the works from other artists? (impatient grin ... Ha Ha!)

Don't forget, the most important rule in this contest is to have fun with it! :P

Deanna ... Thank you so much for your entry! :)

Can I ask you to make a few modifications?

On his left arm (the one hanging down) can you make the glove look more like a glove? Right now it kind of blends into the arm.

Can you try to make it look more like a female bee?

And can you lighten up the dark purple and dark green? Let me know if you need a more descriptive demonstration of which ones I am referring to, and I will put a few pointers into the graphic to point directly at them.

My ... My ... My! The talent is crawling out of the wood works here tonight, isn't it? I luv your design! :wub:

Can you demonstrate to me what it would look like in color and in black white? For now, I am printing everything on my color inkjet printer. I will be upgrading to a color laser soon, but will be waiting a decent amount of time before using professional print services. So, I'm curious what it would look like on white or kraft (think grocery bags) labels/paper.

Thanks bunches! :tup:

Jason/Blackspot,

That's pretty cool looking. Although I do have to admit, it took me looking at a few times to figure out the bee in the upper right corner. Can you try to make it a little more noticable in some way?

Good morning everyone! :D

I wanted to take a quick moment to thank all of you for your hardwork during the first day of this contest!!

I will be at one of my shops where my products are sold today in an effort to help give the shop owners a day off. Unfortunately, there is not a computer at this location, so I will be unable to check on things until I return home this evening. But I will check on everyone the first available minute I have to be able to send thanks for any new submissions, tweaked entries, or provide feedback.

So far, this has been an absolutely wonderful contest and I look forward to coming home and getting "sucked in" again. Ha Ha!

Have a great day!

Wow! I just love going away for the day to return and find out I've been spoiled!! :P

Deanna ... I love the revisions to the first submission. Do I see some lipstick on it? (I'm not asking you to color it, I'm just asking if that was your intention with the lips?) Nice work hun!!

The 2nd and 3rd ones ... Luv Em! I know which one I like the best out of the three, but I want to consult with DH and Mom too. DH doesn't get home from his job for another 2.5 hours though.

Taldo ... I like the bee from the top one better than the bottom one. But the text is kind of blurry to me. I even tried cleaning my monitor again and still kind of faint. Can you play with the text a bit to make it a little bit more noticable? Maybe try a different font? Just have fun with it and see what you can do, if you don't mind.

Keep it up ya'll :tup: ... I'm so excited! I was bragging to my best friend on the phone last night about DO, and she can't wait for her divorce to finalize so she can get back into working with her company and come here to start a contest too!!

Thanks so much Piece of Mind!

Everyone, tonight we discovered that my monitor doesn't need cleaning. My eyes do! After 8 years on the same prescription (hey, I'm young and didn't always have vision coverage) that I desperately need new glasses! After pulling them out and putting the ones I have on ... It's like a whole new world!! I guess an entire career in computer related positions really can do the damage they say it does. Ha Ha! :D

Also, we think my monitor is picking up more greens and blues than reds ... so when DH isn't home and playing one of his million computer games, I will be using his computer to also view all image samples, to get a "clearer vision".

In the meantime, I am going to do my best not to ask for too many revisions (I hadn't planned on it anyway, since that is part of the post-decision process). I will at the very least view all samples on DH's system before asking for revisions to colors. Please bare with me until I can get an eye appointment!

Thanks bunches for your patience and understanding on this issue!!!

Couldn't figure out how to make a bee butt look more realistic, so I went with a couple more quick ideas. I had to put them on bars of soap to keep up ;)

JenMar Web Services
06-15-2004, 07:50 PM
Thanks Jason!

The flower doesn't really represent Bubble Bee.

The second one I like better, but it needs a little more than just the bar and some bubbles.

As for the "bee butt", this is more of what I was thinking:

<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jason.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

More of the bee, not just the butt, but with your original "cut out" style and special touches.

Does that help?

Just J
06-15-2004, 07:56 PM

Sure, I just wanted to say "bee butt" :lol:

Ok all ... here is some feedback which is a combined effort of Me, DH and Mom. Please let me know if we're being too picky. We don't want to be a pain in the rear to anyone and surely don't want to discourage any of you.

General: Please keep in mind that our target market for our products will be retailers and end-consumers. The end-consumers will be adults, primarily women, who are familiar with the benefits of all-natural body care products. We also live in a very diverse part of town. We're in what is considered an Upper Middle Class neighborhood, but less than a mile away we have a neighborhood that is minimum $500K, and typically $2-3 Million. Just one mile past that are two which are widely known for having Braves, Falcons, Thrashers, etc. We want to appeal to to all ranges of incomes, but most likely it will be the higher income brackets that will be paying for quality over quantity.

Piece of Mind: It's cute but too cute. Jennifer has a bubbly, fun-loving personality that we want to convey, but we don't want it to be "too cute" that people don't take our products, or prices, seriously.

Bogglins: We like the overall design. Nice and simplistic. But the bee is not proportional in size of wings to body, and it reveals too much of a cute impact.

Deanna: We're impressed with the extra touches you put on the revision of #1. However, again as noted to PoM and Bogglins, it has too much of a cutesy impact. We want a certain level of cute, but not to overdo it. In submissions 2 & 3, the Bee is good but we're not sure about the viewing angle of it. Can you put it in a different angle instead of standing on it's stinger?

Chris: Out of the ones that have been submitted to date, DH & I like your's the best. :wub: As noted previously, we'd like to implement a bit more color. Maybe a silver or gold tone to the tub paws and the shower neck/head. We like color, but also want something that still stands out as black and white. Your design does this with the black and white, so let's see where you can take it with the color aspect? We love the bee, cute but simple. Perfect! :clap:

Jason: (HAPPY BEE-LATED BIRTHDAY!) It took me pointing out the Bee in the upper right corner to both Mom and DH. We think it may be a little too abstract for us. You're very talented and you rank high within our list, but can you try a different style other than abstract? DH & Mom also did not figure out the bubbles making a B.

Michael: Your's is currently our runner-up for all 3 of us. :clap: We like the simplistic, yet effect, classic tone. As we mentioned to Chris, we'd like to see a bit more color. Can we see what it would look like with a space between the word bath and the &, and then again between the & and the word body? Right now it looks a little clustered, and we may change our mind after we see it with the spaces, but we'd like to see it if you don't mind. We like the Bee with the curly trail! :clap:

Taldo: We think you've won the heart of Mom. You're #1 in her list so far. :wub: If taken to a smaller size, however, the text would be very thin and hard to read. You don't have to change the font, but if you could make it bold, or thicker, with the filled slanted Bee from the top image, we'd like to see it.

RadicalSeed: We like it. You're tied for runner-up as of right now, with Michael. :tup: We don't like font's 1 or 2 (too typical), and think font #3 might not be very useful at smaller sizes. Can you play with a couple more fonts? Keep the green, but if you could blend all three blues/purples into one blended color, give it a try. Loose the pink and mauve. We like pinks and mauves, but we think the Green and the Blue/Purple will look better. Or play other color combos if you want.

All: Feel free to play with colors. If you find a combo that screams "look at me" ... show it to us! We're not stuck on the green and purple by any means and you could show us something that leaves us speechless. So please play all you want! (Just not yellow and black.) :D

Your talents have amazed us, leaving some of us speechless at times. :notworthy: We can't wait to see more submissions!!

Good morning everyone! Are we bright eyed and bushy tailed today? I'm not ... yet! :D

Taldo ... Thank you so much. That helps a lot and the Bubble Bee is easier to read now. I did download it to crop it down and try a resizing, and it makes the Bath and Body a little too small. Can you make that part a little bigger. Like maybe halfway between where it is now and the "Bubble Bee"? Without resizing the bee itself?

Fabian ... Thank you for your entry! It's different, cute but not overdone, and still sleek. I do notice that the "bath and body" gets a little lost in the colored background versions. Can you play with it a bit to see if we can get it to work better on the colored backgrounds?

Keep up the good work!

Great work, Carol! (Btw, do any of you mind if I refer to your first names when I find them? I feel it gives us a more personal bond, especially when after the logo is picked, we will probably be working with the winner on some future projects for this company.)

Carol ... we're getting there. I really don't want you to think I'm a nag ... but this part is important to us as sometimes we do have the need to put the logo on smaller items. (Such has small, half-business card sized hang tags on our handpoured candles, etc.) I have cropped it out and resized it to a width of 100 pixels, just to see what it turns out like.

<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Taldo.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

As you can see, the bath and body get a little blurry at such a small size. (Not as bad as before) So, this is what I'm thinking. Will "bolding" it make it better? Maybe deepend the shade a tad? Or do we need to make it just large enough that it will align on the left where it is (aligned to the left side of the "u") but extend out to also align on the right side with the right side of the bee?

Please, take your time, and tell me if you think these requests are too much for this stage of the project. Be honest with me and don't let me overstep my bounds too much. Although I am trying very hard to work with all of the designers on some issues, but keeping the main issues for later post-win work, I do have a tendency to get overly excited about my business. Sp put me in my place if you feel I've overstepped the fine line!

And another thing .. if you have a birthday that falls within my contest (like Jason's yesterday) ... please let me know. ;) I will work with you to work around it so that you can take your day off. I don't work on my birthday, ever! And I don't expect you to either. At least not when it comes to my contests! You're all so very talented, and working so very hard for us here at DO, that you deserve YOUR DAY to yourself! (This is now a rule, so don't break it! :D ) Ha Ha!

Thanks for the Birthday wishes.
I hope Carol doesn't mind me answering on small part of the question directed to her...
When you resize that image, you are resizing a low quality .gif. When the contest is over you will get a vector version of the logo that you will be able to resize better (in Photoshop since you said you use that) without the image blur.
Hope that helps.

Jason ... thanks for the responce. I do understand that concept, but I am also concerned that the ratio of the words, to the rest of the logo/words, won't be that resizable even with the scalabale image. Am I wrong? If so, tell me!

Deanna,

Thanks so much!! Out of the reviesed originals (not counting the new one), I like the green/purple "middle" one the best. :tup:

I like the bee from the new submission. I like the layout of the second one the best, from those three. (Meaning the text isn't overlapping the image, and I liek the way it's looking to the right. I guess it would look just as good looking to the left though, when you really think about it. Ha Ha!)

I think pink is a great color, and I like it alot. But in this particular case, too much of it. I don't mind pink in moderation, or text (like Taldo's), but in this set where it's all pink, it's screaming at me as a bubble gum related logo more so than a bath & body, even with the bath and body wording. Please don't be mad at me!! :D It's just with the word "Bubble" being part of the company name, I have to be careful of what a "first glance" can say in someone's mind.

Paula ... Thank you for your submissions! :tup: Here's some feedback for ya.
#1: I like the color combo. I would never have put those two together and I thank you for proving to me that it works! (This is why I have tried to stress to people, play with the combos you want, because you could shock me ... and you did!) I'm not very fond of the standing on its stinger, but we can work with that ... see comments on 2 & 3.
#2: Out of the 3 layouts, I like this one best. I also like the way the wording goes around the Bee cluster in a circle. In this case, the one that is on it's pointer isn't a big deal because all of the pointers are in the center. Does that make sense?
#3: I like the little Bee line, in the middle one. Good idea! This is the font that I like the best from the three, also.

Deanna ... Out of these ... I like the one in the middle from the left side the best! :tup: The green is a much nicer shade too. (And Mom agrees with me on that one.) :clap:

OK everyone ... I felt it was time to narrow it down a bit. These are NOT the "Top 3" ... just our "Current 3's". I cropped them down to save posting space for this message .. hope you don't mind. I just wanted to show the actual versions so that you would be clear on which ones we're talking about!

No need to make changes unless you just really want to, these are just comments for now. :D

Mom's current 3 and her comments. Mine to follow shortly, then followed by DH when he stops playing Joint Operations for the night.

#1 - Carol:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Mom1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
"The 'bath and body' needs to be a bit bigger and maybe a shade darker. I *REALLY REALLY* like it!"

#2 - Paula (tied for 2nd with herself):
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Mom2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
"I like the position of the bees and the font of the wording, printingwise it would be too many colors, but....that can be adjusted...and I like the hearts for the wings."

and
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Mom2b.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
"I like the smaller size bees, the heart wings, like that they are flying...don't like the font. And it seems a bit 'unbalanced' from the position of the bees...can't pinpoint that though..."

#3 - Michael:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Mom3.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
"I like that it's simple, with an elegant touch, but that it also has a fun little bee. I like the little bee shape and flying trail. Don't like the monotone color but like the fonts."

And now for My current 4 (I couldn't say 3, and some are tied):
(Again, no need to make changes right now, unless you really want to. These are just comments for now.)

#1 - Chris:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
As mentioned before, I like just about everything about this one. I think we could work on colors, of which I did ask you for a sample of something with either gold or silver for the tub paws and neck/showerhead. I think silver would probably match the green and purple best. I know you're out of town right now, so no rush!

#2 - Michael (tied with Carol):
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai2.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
And he sneaks it in there JUST before I post this message! I LOVE the new revisions. Especially the update curly q thingies (such a technical term, I know!) instead of the arrow! Looks much better with the extra spaces, and the color ... awesome!

<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai2b.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I like it much better withthe bolded "Bubble Bee" text, and I know I've already asked for one or two minor other things, so take your time. Keep up the great work!

#3 - Paula (tied with herself):
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I like the bubbles in the background and the hearts for wings! The wings are a small touch that I really enjoyed!!

<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai3b.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
The font could be better or changed, but I like the overall Circular feel of this one!

#4 - Deanna:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Jai4.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I like this one. I've already made a few comments on it, I'll just leave it as "I like it!" for now.

Paula,

At this stage, this is only a joint input. Mom and DH are very important to me, and I value their feedback. That's why I want to honestly post all of our opinions for you all.

As for colors, I am not sure yet. I do print my own stuff right now, but down the road I know I will need professional services, and with too many colors it will cost. So, here's where the professional feedback from all of you pros out there come in. You tell me ... what's the "reasonable" color amount for printable logos?

mbleigh
06-16-2004, 11:18 PM
Two is usually pretty standard for a logo (mine is in two colors...you can print with screens or whiter versions of the colors and still be considered only two colors).

Aaron
06-16-2004, 11:22 PM
I thought I'd pop in.

If you're printing these on your own printer, the number of colors is really up to you. Once you start outsourcing is when you'll really need to monitor it.

The attached design is two color, and shown also in black and white.

JenMar Web Services
06-16-2004, 11:23 PM
And finally ... DH's current 3:

#1 - Michael:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Gary1.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
He likes the extra touches you've done!! He thinks it shows "simple elegance".

#2 - Chris:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Gary2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
He loves the creative effort of incorporating the tub into it.

#3 - Paula:
<img src='http://www.jenmarwebservices.com/DO/Gary3.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
He says he likes both of these equally. He thinks they add a "crafty feel".

Ok ladies and gents ... those are the current comments for now. Again, no revisions are needed at this point, unless you insist on doing them. We just wanted to give you some feedback, from 3 different perspectives!

Aaron,

Here are the comments I promised! I love it! :wub: The only thing I am not liking right now is the font. I am not particularly a fan of open-faced fonts. It looks great, and I could very well revert back to this one after I see it with a closed-faced font. But can you entertain me with a sample of another font? Also, can you make the bee just a tad larger or make the outlines of it a bit more boldish? Other than that .. it's awesome. I like the "curly q thingie" (I know, there's that 'technical terminology' again ... HA HA! ) instead of the "&"! Gives it a unique touch that's different. Keep it up hun!!

Aaron
06-17-2004, 09:31 AM
Here's a slightly larger bee and a closed face font, similar to my original.

I'm glad you like it!

JenMar Web Services
06-17-2004, 10:46 AM
Aaron ... thanks so much for the speedy revision! I do think the overall effect of the design works much better with the first font style. Odd, as I typically hate open-faced fonts ... but what else is a girl to say besides "You did it!!" :D

Everything so far that I have seen, which contained things I would never have done or thought of, is so spectacular! I'm actually learning a lot about myself ... I don't know everything! Ha Ha!

The bee is much better now ... thanks bunches for that also!

Keep it up ya'll ... I like having my socks knocked off! :lol2:

Ok ya'll ... another round of the "nightly feedback"! :D

Disclaimer: :P This is mainly to Michael and Aaron, as they have submitted new ideas/revisions since we did our feedbacks last night. We will gladly post more feedback to others when any revisions or new ideas are posted! ;)

I have also started asking some friends to look at the submissions for their opinions. As I get feedback from them, I will gladly post it if you would like me to do so. :)

My Feedback:
Aaron - I am very please with your submission! I am still shocked that I like the first, open-faced font better. You did a good one with that whole "knocking my socks off" thing! :D I also like the way your Bee is viewed from a side/flying position and the solid trail behind it. I am also very impressed with the "curly q thingy" in between "bath" and "body"!

Michael - Wow! The 2-color revision you have done has impressed me. I like the larger size of the bee too. And the flattened "curly q thingies" on each side of "bath" and "body". I like the fading of the color through the "Bubble Bee" text.

DH's Feedback:
Michael - As stated last night, he likes the simple elegance look and feel and is very pleased with the overall revisions you did!

Aaron - You're now tied in 1st on DH's list with Michael! He's not really sure what else to say.

Mom's Feedback:
Michael - I definitely like the multi-color revision! MUCH Better than the monochrome first version. The bath and body squigglies are also much better.

Aaron - Nice entry! I like your revision on the bee. The bee being one color and the trail being another color, but agree with Jen about the open font of the first version looking much nicer. I'd like to see some different variations of alternate "squigglies" between the words "bath" and "body".

Outside Feedback from a friend of mine who has been in the Advertising/Marketing business for nearly 30 years:
#1 - Aaron and Michael - Both are equally sleek, elegant and brandable.
#2 - Chris - This is slightly too busy, but overall very nice.
#3 - Carol - The colors and font are nice, but overall it's too retro and not eye appealing

Keep up the great work! I am so excited to see what's still in store for me!

OK all ... The feedback from our first round of our marketing survey is starting to pour in! ;) We're very proud of all of you because of the wonderful comments we've been getting from the survey so far! :tup: It's outstanding ... to say the least! :D So, here a few things we'd like to ask for, if you don't mind doing it for us.

Everyone - We're trying to keep the colors at 3-4. 3 would be better, but 4 is still ok.

Paula - Your most recent revision that you posted today. Take the top one, and if you can ... put the Bees in a view from the side vs. a top view. Don't change anything else!

Aaron - Could you please post Original design (open-faced font) with the larger bee size for us? Maybe even knock up the size a tad more compared to the second one? Keep the bee in green like it is in the second one also, please.

Michael - Could you also take your most recent revision and put the Bee into a side view vs. a top view please?

Deanna - Your most recent one that I posted in my "Current 3" list the other night. Keep it as is but lighten the dark purple just a tad (don't mess with the lighter purple) and also make Text parts a tad lighter in shade?

Carol - Take most recent revision, increase text size of "bath & body" or darken a tad? (As noted before, I am concerned about the visibility when the overall graphic is taken to a small size for printing on smaller product packaging.) Can you also see if you can make it from a side view? I know with the overall style of your's this may be harder to do, but if you give it a shot, it would help.

Fabian - Your's is fine just the way it is. Might help if it had a slight face or smile on it though.

Jason - Can you work on the suggestion I gave on page 3 for me please?

RadicalSeed - You're is great the way it is except for one small thing. Some people think the wings look more like turtle legs coming out the sides/underneath. Can you try to put them on top of the body to look more like wings? Please use the Teal/Purple from the lower right corner of your original submission for this. Thanks!

Piece of Mind - Unfortunately, your's hasn't gotten much feedback at all. I'd love to see if you can come up with something else maybe??

Bogglins - Your last revision with the purple ... Can you lighten it up and maybe add another color or two somehow?

Chris - How was your trip? (When you get back and read this. Ha Ha!) Can't wait to see what you have in store for me as I know you already mentioned you would work on a few things when you got back.

Ok .. I think that's it for now. Let me know if you have questions!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone. Today was a very hot, but profitable craft show.

We're really getting a lot of GREAT feedback from our marketing survey!! :tup: We are now considering closing this contest early. ;)

How does a Top 2-3 List by, or on, Monday and a Final Decision by, or on, Wednesday/Thursday sound to everyone? Would this be workable for most of you? Is this fair enough advance notice for you? Be honest! I respect you all very much, and I want pure honesty from you on this. :)

If you will be out of town or are going be overwhelmed with other projects during these time frames, it will be to everyone's advantage to work around that. So please let me know! (Just in case I need a slight tweak or two more from the top 3 before making that grand final decision.) :winkiss:

There are a few other designers I had hoped to see submissions from, but we, as a collective group, are doing so well, that unless they submit something prior to my top 3, it's just their tough luck. Ha Ha! :lol:

Seriously ... each and every one of you is so talented. :notworthy: You work very hard for me and many others at DO. Please don't think we don't notice it, or don't appreciate it. We appreciate you and your hard work so much!! I am personally very happy to have found DO. My experience here so far has been so wonderful that I plan on doing a lot of future business here as the needs arises ... and referring others here as well. :tup: I look forward to getting to know each of you better as time goes on, and more contests come and go. You have become such an integral part of my company (which is my baby) that I feel "connected" to you in some cyber-odd way. :D

I cannot stress this enough ... I love every single submission I received! Unfortunately I can't buy them all. :realmad: If you are not in the top 3, or aren't the grand-prize winner, please know that it is nothing against you or your skills, it's just my personal likings or based on the feedback we've been getting. I would be EXTREMELY honored if all of you included your submissions in your portfolios!!

The only thing I ask, and I ask it now to give plenty of time for all of you to read, is that if you are not the winner, that you please remove the entire company name before putting the image up for sale or in a portfolio. (Please feel free to use a generic name instead.) I only ask this, not to be picky, or b**chy, but simply because I am applying for a registered trademark of this company name and would like to protect it as best as possible until that registration is approved and the paperwork is in my hands. I can't force you to remove it, so I figure the least I can do is explain why and ask you nicely. (Pwetty Pwease?)

Again, thank you for all of your hard work. I look forward to hearing from you about the deadline adjustment proposed above.

:wub: Love,
Jennifer

Deanna ... You had posted that one while I was posting another long post. I immediately posted afterwards that it is great and has been put into the Round 2 survey along with all the others. I don't think any changes need to be done to it right now!

Bogglins ... Hehehe!

Paula ... Thanks!

Everyone else (who has already submitted) please let me know what you think about closing early? :)

Anyone who is working on something but has yet to submit it, please go ahead and post something. :) It doesn't have to be an actual submission if you aren't done with it yet. Even just "I'm workin' on something for ya, please wait for it" will let me know to wait for it before posting my Top 3 list. ;) There could very well be a few of you that are working on something, but if I don't know at least that much, how will I know at all? :D I don't want to "short change" you if you've been working on something, to then come here and find out that the Top 3 have been posted or even worse, that the winner was announce. That's not fair to you, and do I respect that!

I will be around most of tonight, and in and out tomorrow (a last minute appointment came up that I need to go to). So I think right now, we're realistically looking at late Monday night / early Tuesday morning before a Top 3 List goes up.

Thanks bunches!! :tup:

Ok ... the time has come to narrow things down a bit to the top 3! :D

First, I want to state again, that I have loved all of the submissions and we've gotten some good feedback about everyone's entries! :tup:

The top 3 are: (in Alphabetical order to keep it fair)
Aaron
Michael
Paula

Aaron & Michael - Via our survey results, you are both exactly tied for a "slam dunk" win!
Paula - A lot of people love your design, yet commented on too many colors. We'd still like to see what you can come up with if you can narrow down the colors a bit.

Everyone else, we've gotten a lot of good feedback on all of your designs. If you would like specific feedback, please PM me and I will happily share some of the comments with you about your design. :)

Aaron, Michael & Paula, I have a few slight (very slight) modifications I would like to see if you don't mind, before picking a winner. I will post them in just a moment for each of you. ;)

Thanks so much to everyone for your hard work! :notworthy:

Ok .. here are the small revisions we'd like to see, if you don't mind, before selecting a winner. ;) Some of this feedback is based on the feedback given to us by a friend of the family, who is also a designer, a design teacher and working on his masters for design. We think some of his feedback, along with the feedback from the survey, has some very valid points. :)

Aaron - Even though I, personally, like the open-faced font better, it was pointed out to us that this would still "close up" when reduced to smaller sizes. Can you please do me the favor of going back to a closed faced, but trying 2-3 different fonts for me? (Sorry to switch back and forth on you!). Also, when printed, the gold is too light, and the green is a bit too dark for my liking. Can you please try a Green & Purple scheme, with a slightly lighter green tone?

Michael - The duo-tone/fading looks like the printer is running out of ink or something when printed. Can you revert to a solid color for the text? (Maybe a shade between the light and the dark parts?) Also, there isn't much of a space between "Bubble" and "Bee". Can you increase that, or try a font variation for me? Finally, on the inside of the swirl/trail behind the bee, the closest part on the "inside", can you remove that one little dot? It's a little too "clustered" and will probably disappear anyway if the size were to be reduced.

Paula - Your entry came in with a lot of good feedback! The major concern was the amount of colors. Can you try to narrow it down to 2-3 colors? Another point that was mentioned is that the trail going along the bees was too "small and tight". Can you add a bit more spaces between each "spot" to "open it up"?

Thanks bunches all ... and congrats on making it to the top 3! As soon as we have reviewed these minor tweaks and have a decision made, we will announce the winner! :clap:

Hey now ... you didn't call it a "squigly thingy" ... that's 2 points off! (Ha Ha ... Just Kidding!) :P

You work so fast I sometimes wonder if you're a SuperDesigner! Thanks for the quick revisions! Once I see something from Aaron and Paula, I will either select a winner or give more feedback. (Hopefully select a winner so I don't put you all through anymore "torcher"!) :D

Thanks Paula!! These are great! :tup: If you don't mind, I'd like to take a few parts from each of them to see what we can come up with. If this is too much to ask for, let me know. I just thought it would help to have 1 sample from each of you for when my friends, family and survey participants to review. ;)

(I am numbering them 1 - 4 to make it easier for both of us to understand).

Use number 4's color scheme. Use number 1's curly things around the "Bath & Body". Use the left and right Bees moved in closer like in number 3. Remove the trail all together. (I think this might cut down on a "busy" look, like some have mentioned in the past about a few designs, even though they weren't your's.) Then I'd like to see two versions. One without the middle Bee. And one with the middle Bee down at the bottom to replace the "&" symbol, almost like in #2's version. Thanks!!

Again, if this is too much to ask, please let me know! :tup:

Hi,
Here are the edits you suggested. Let me know if I got it right. :)
I also threw one in with a little darker shade of Dusty Rose, and reduced the size of the Bee's. Let me know if you need any more changes. It's no problem at all. :)
Thanks, Paula

Paula ... Perfect! :tup: I like #1 and #3 best, so I will crop out #2 and put it up in the survey. Once we get Aaron's, a decision should quickly follow, as most people in our survey are quick responders! Thanks for your hard work! ;)

Wow! Talk about some amazing results!!! :tup:

This decision has been very difficult for me to make which is why I asked for input via the marketing surveys. Throughout this contest my survey participants have had various favorites, and as you know, the three of you lead the rest of the pack. I want to thank all 3 of you, yet again, for your hard work and talent! I would NEVER have come up with anything even half as good as the designs I see on this thread, and all over these forums! It really astonishes me how so many different ideas can spawn from the same contest! :notworthy:

Aaron and Paula, you're final entries were loved so much that you both, kept flip-flopping back and forth between 2nd and 3rd place. :tup:

:party: Michael, I am VERY EXCITED to announce your FIRST WIN at Design Outpost! :party: You won by a landslide in this last round of the survey and I'm quite excited to have the honor of being your first winning CH! :party:

Everyone else, we gotta throw a virtual party :party: for Michael Bleigh very soon to congratulate him on his 1st win as a DO Designer! WOOHOO! ;)

Thanks again to EVERYONE who submitted an entry into this contest! I can't wait to see what you come up with for future contests I hold!! :tup:

Ps. Michael, I have one or two small revisions I'd like to work with you on. Shouldn't be too hard or take too much of your time. ;)

Michael,

I'm very proud of the work you have done! :wub: Here are a few things I would like to try to incorporate. I am going to try to detail everything out here, so that we can get this completed quicker for you and you can go win the 2 more contests needed to "escape" from that Apprentice tag! ;)

We're using the top version of the two from your "final revision". The slight fading of the green in the text needs to be removed. It really needs to be 1 single color, as I have been told that any variations will still cost more for printing. :(

Let's see if we can try to make the bee a solid purple, because of the printing cost concerns, but leave the wings white.

Can we do something similar to what Aaron did by replacing the "&" symbol with something else? (re. PM I sent ya) Don't use the same one he did, as that's not right, but if you could find a couple to try it with, that would be great. You don't even have to put all of them into "full" samples. Just type em up in a list in a smaller graphic on just a white background, and I'll pick one from that. Sound fair? :P

And finally, can you increase the size of the text of the "Bath & Body" line so that your "swoopies" align on the left and right, with the B and the e? Not sure if this will work, but I'd like to give it a shot! (I'm a very symetrical person, can ya tell? ;) )

And finally, can we still try a few more fonts? More like the one in the top version, "plain and simplistic". I'm worried that when reduced to a smaller size, parts of some of the letters will disappear or seem to disappear from being so thin. If we could give just a couple more a try ... I promise to find one I like. I tried typing up the wording in a Word document and testing some ... but it just didn't seem to work too well for me. I really like the one on it now, its just that in some places it seems very thin, like on the e's.

I don't know if this helps or not, but here are some color codes of the colors I like (codes came from Adobe PhotoShop, if that helps) This is based off "web colors" to try to make it a little more simplistic on my end.

Green:
HSB: H120, S67, B60
RGB: R51, G153, B51
Lab: L56, a-46, b43
CMYK: C80, M15, Y100, K3

Purple:
HSB: H300, S67, B60
RGB: R153, G51, B153
Lab: L40, a52, b-35
CMYK: C46, M93, Y0, K0

Tell me if you need anything else from me. I'm at your mercy, oh great one! :notworthy:

:tup: ROFL!

Ok .. Hubby and I decided we relly like #1 the best! Font, Squiggly Thingy, Swoopy Thingies on the end ... all of it. ;) The only concern we're having at this point is still the possible thining of some sections of the font, but we'll just deal with it if that happens.

The bottome line text is much smaller in comparison to the top line. So, increase the size on that line and we'll be good to go. Whatever it takes to get it to align "justified" with the first B and the end e. Example shown below:
