Rx for Catering.com (http://www.rxforcatering.com)

Rx for Catering, LLC is a unique consulting and design service for the events industry. *I am NOT a catering company. *Corporations and meeting planning companies hire me to design their events and work with the contracted catering staff and chef's to design and negotiate their menus and events.

My schtick if you will is we have Catering Cures for Apathetic Appetizers, Bloated Budgets, Depressed Desserts Etc. *My website will give you a lot of information and is fun to look at.

What I am looking for is a logo for letterhead, business cards etc. *I would like a bit of a RETRO or something that of a silloutte. *I would like a couple of colors. Something that mixed medical with food..ie a doctors bag with a chef's hat etc. *I have hired a couple of companies and can't seem to get what I want or something that has a bit of a retro look to it. but you can easily look at it with my company name and "get it".

I would like this to get in ALL FORMATS ~ thank you all

Hi all designers,
Here I copy-pasted a message that I received from the CH.

Hi My Dear,

I am very new to this service so first and foremost thank you so very
much for participating by giving my logo a shot. Here is my feedback..

I "get" the snake but I think folks would be scared of it I wouldn't be
able to use it. I would like to use black and white lettering and
maybe in the Rx for Catering, LLC put some medical and culinary things
together..maybe a stethscopethat comes from the "r" in for that goes to the
"C"..I don't know..you did do a kool different design. I do like the
idea of some type of background.. I don't kow if this helps at all or
not..but I am grateful.

Julie

A little more retro?

Julie, Hi, hate that you are working this weekend..I am sitting here getting caught up...I did like the font on the first....it is the little chef man that I don't think I like..if you can go to Puravidatapas.com look at their logo http://puravidatapas.com/ or better yet look at. http://ospinc.com/

hope this helps and thank you so much

Julie

I looked at the pages you were speaking about...do you want something simple, spare?

Here's a revision with that in mind...and I'll put a sparkle in one tomorrow....

Julie
07-04-2004, 04:31 AM
OK--here are the sparkles :)

crgatl17
07-05-2004, 07:35 AM
Hey Julie, Nice Job Girlie, definitely the best I have seen so far...can we do something like a doctor's bag in the middle instead of the stethescope???

Plus if we can add an LLC just small that would be great.

crgatl17
07-05-2004, 07:39 AM
what happens if the we did the Rx and the bottome of the R going into the top of the "x" or somewhere had the stethscope going into a letter..

Then the "3 circles" would have a chef's hat w/a red cross, doctor's bag w/apple and then a knife and for in the last circle..I like the starts and some type of color background like an abstract circle or an ameba type cirlcie..does this makes sense??

Thanks for your time and effort so very much.

crgatl17

Radicalseed, thank you so much but the snake definitely scares me and doesn't add much to food. .I would like to go with something that has a deco 50's look to it.

Thanks, Claire

Julie Tiedens ~ Bohtique Design, LLC

Ms. Julie...thank you so much for your choices...it has taken me a couple of days because I wanted to look at them..think about it..look at them yada yada.

on the second page I think I like the one is the 04th one down with now small circles if that makes sense...I wouldn't mind playing with different colors and I think that if we kep tthe blue that it is too dark. Also a couple of friends commented that "Catering Cures" should be written in a different font.

One of the things I would love to see on this is the medical and culinary put into the writing of Rx for Catering, llc ie the end of the "R" and the beginning of the x has a stethescope...a chef's hat is on the "R" or the "C" and on the "g' a doctor bag is hanging down...obviously you can do what you choose but something like that....once again thank you so very much for your time and wonderful creativity.

THe other one I liked was second page just the 3 circles..but if the stars couple be in different colors maybe...also the chef's hat doesn't look much like a chef's hat.

Julie,

First and foremost I appreciate your hanging in there with me. The revisions you did that has the chef's hat on the R..doesn't work nor does the stethescope. It doesn't really look like a chef's hat...how about a docto's bag at the bottom of the "g in catering".? I don't think I like the X hanging low because I think people will miss it.

If you have time could you make the revisions.

With Gratitude,
Claire

Here you go...I wasn't quite sure where to go from the last one, so this is what I have.

Hi,

I am very new to this and I realize my contest is over...and I have picked your last design the Blue background Rx for Catering, LLC

I do have 2 revisions...can we do this with an tangerine background..I just got done reading about the psychology of colors and orange people like...I will leave it up to you regarding the stars..maybe bright yellow..or green?? what do you think?

Also I like the font w/Rx for Catering, LLC but I am scared that on a business card it will be hard to read..anyway we can sort of keep the general style of the font but just change it a touch?

If there are any other background you think are worth noting that would be great..i was also thinking of a "sea green" w/bright yellow stars...

thanks for all you do

Julie
07-25-2004, 02:26 PM
Claire-

Ok--Here's my revision. I've changed the colors as you mentioned and I've given you a few choices of fonts on the bottom. Right now, that's all I have in my collection that's anywhere near the same feel. However, if these don't work, I have another idea we can explore later.

Julie

crgatl17

Morning Julie, these are much better...I can't thank you enough for you patience w/me..This is no joke I have been futzing with this for a YEAR! and couldn't find anything that talked to me until you designs came along.

If possible when we are done if you feel comfortable giving me an address I would like to send you a small something something as a thank you. I just put Palmer's into the mail today.

I am going into a meeting this morning and when I get out I will look at other font's. The bottom one you gave me is hard to read..and I used the top one before..and i think what you gave me is "BOLD" and I would like something a little darker.

Here are a couple of questions I have....

In the orange could we change that to a dark green? and in the yellow the cross in the doctor's bag..could we make that red?

Also can you just take one of those 2 background colors and I don't care which and put it on what would be a business card size..Palmer said you could do that...because this is my last concern...is that I love the oval..I am concerned on a business card w/ a white background that it might be too small. Are we able (for example) or what are your thoughts of making it a square w/the entire front card background "orange" or whatever color we pick? and put a border on the square? I love the oval..maybe after we see it on a "mock up" we will be able to get our answer. Hope this makes sense...

With Gratitude,
Claire

Claire--

OK--here we go: I've made changes to colors for you, but I'm not quite sure what you meant by changing it to green, so I changed the stars. If you want me to change the circle, let me know.

The business cards are here. You might want to print them out to find out if it's big enough for you. As for the fonts, I'm already considering buying a set of fonts for my own use from http://fontdiner.com/main.html --anybut the TV Dinner, Brown Bag or Doggie Bag sets. If you like a font from any of the other sets, just let me know and you'll help make my decision a little easier :)

Hi,

You are a magician...I had a small family emergency last night after being in meetings ALL DAY LONG...so hang tight I want to look at it again tonight..also please please hang in there with me and when we are complete I want to send you a couple more buckies since you have been so great with me. The orange and green definitely didn't work...but just hang in there with me..ok?

Thanks, Claire

Julie
07-27-2004, 04:26 AM
Claire,

I'm sorry to hear you had an emergency. Believe me, I understand--this summer had been full of them for me, too :( Don't worry about sending me anything extra at all. If you want to, though, I would love to see your letterhead, business cards, etc. after you get them printed off.

Anyway, I know you hadn't had time, but I do have another idea for you...what do you think about something like this?

Julie

crgatl17
07-27-2004, 06:31 AM
Hi,

You are such a gem...I so appreciate you..that is for sure..AND NO NO NO...I need to send you a couple extra buckies once we are complete...THAT MY DEAR is not up for discussion and yes I will send you copies of all "stuff" once it is printed....here is my information that goes on my business cards.

[Edited by Michael - PM sent to Claire]

**If something has to go ~ I think you can take out my address although I would like to keep it.

Ok, Thanks for doing the color changes..but I think I like the full red card but turned the way you did the yellow and red...maybe we could look at the yellow going more to a "gold" or cheddar cheese Color?

I will look at the font after my meeting today..

Plus any way to make the oval a touch bigger.

The size of my business card is 3.5 inches long and 2 inch high.

Ok looked real quickly, like Britannic Bold

Thanks my dear...

UUGGHh just got in from doing a menu tasting and meetings...tired...hope your day went well...

I like the one that has the font inside the business card..what do you think? I showed the logo's to several people today in meetings to get feedback..and everyone LOVED what you did as it really captures my personality.I like the second font better than the first...but a few folks said they don't think the font you picked would be an issue...so if I could see that in the business card that would be great..and could you change the yellow background to Orange? Or cheddar cheese color? I showed it to a designer an event designer today and he said Orange and Red are very "in right now"..PROMISE we are narrowing in on it.

Thanks, Claire

Julie
07-27-2004, 04:06 PM
I don't think I could ever say ugh and "menu tasting" in the same sentence :)

Well, here you are...and don't worry about the revisions. That's what's supposed to happen in the revision forum!

Julie

crgatl17
07-27-2004, 04:17 PM
Yep, you are right regarding saying UUGGH...just still have a lot to do tomorrow..working on a big project for Coca-Cola. and yes it is true that when you go to their corporate HQ building that all the vending machines are free. Which makes me drink triple the amount of carbinated beverages that I would normally drink.

Ok, I think I like your original...with the Rx for Catering, and I like the "g" the old way.

Keep the yellow..maybe make it just a touch darker and the red stars a touch deeper the red and I think we will have it.

Sorry and selfishly glad to see you are working late tonight.

Thanks, Claire....

It has taken me 3 years to find a logo I like I just want to make sure I have it right.

Julie
07-27-2004, 05:39 PM
Claire--

Three years is definitely a long wait! I'll do what I can to make this perfect for you...

What do you think here? I had to reposition some of the sparkles so that they were more balanced and didn't interfere with the lettering.

Take your time figuring this out...I can make more changes, no problem!

crgatl17
07-27-2004, 05:47 PM
HI,

Yup, like the last one...can we make the circle a touch bigger? so it fills up a bit more of the card and then it will make the Rx a touch bigger as well..I am still struggling just a touch w/the font as I am scared it iwll get lost on the card although I like it very much.

I also liked the one you presented with the white outline..although I want to keep it allwithin the circle..and the way you had it it went out...

Which one do you like better?

Thanks so much for hanging in with me.

Claire

Julie
07-27-2004, 06:03 PM
Hmmm...although the color of the first set appeals to me more, I do like them both--it's pretty much a toss-up.

I've made the Rx and the circle a little bigger here. As for the font, I can try others, but this one outlines quite poorly--it ends up quite jaggy. I'm going to whip up another one, though, with a cool font. I'll outline that and you can have a look at it.

Just hold on a few minutes :)

Julie
07-27-2004, 06:15 PM
Here's what I was talking about...

crgatl17
07-28-2004, 05:53 AM
Wow, I had to cry "UNCLE" last night and go to bed...I had some plastic surgery 5 weeks ago..not boobs...face and boy it still HURTS..so sister girl took a couple pain pills and hit the sheets.

YOU!!! are too good to me.

I like the font your originally gave me...but as I commented I am scared it is going to be hard to read on a business card..nice revision with changing and adding the stars though..

I liked the bottom one the last one with that font..but I think I like a little x and not a Captial X. Also that disc seems to be a little narrower? Does that make sense then the one above..and I think I would like that all in the same font and no script for catering cures although I understand why you did that to give it a little more texture.

Last can you "BOLD" my entire address/phone information on the card? Also like what you did with the stars on the bottom card w/just breaking them up a bit...let's see how those revisions look..and as always thank you.:)

crgatl17
07-28-2004, 05:55 AM
One more thing...the revision that you give me with the RX but little Rx can that have 04 stars as well..I like what you did with that...also can the oval be a touch rounder..I realize we are running out of card on top..but I swear the ovals on the 2 cards look different.

Thanks,

With Gratitude,
Claire

HI,

Missed not tag teaming w/you last night...this looks good..I like it bolder...but the X looks Capital and I would like it small w/a space between Rx (space) for and the rest looks ok..which font do you like best..that one or the original.

Are you having a good day?

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 12:49 PM
HI,

I just noticed on teh biz card mockup that the catering cures font is the same as Rx for Catering, LLC

I like that better than the font on the logo "catering cures"

nice job

Julie
07-29-2004, 01:22 PM
Hey, Claire--

The day is great here :) I finally got back from work and am enjoying the rest of my afternoon. How about you?

I've made the requested changes. I think the font in this version is the best--mostly because it's of a higher quality and, I think, is even more readable. Let's see...I've made the "X" smaller again--the first version I gave you was actually in lowercase; so I'll just keep making it smaller until you like it.

Does the size of this oval seem right to you? I took it off one of the other cards, so I think it should be better.

Julie

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 01:46 PM
Hi,

I know I am being picky can the R not be bold..I feel it is overpowering the rest of the verbage..and I will shoot more money your way for "hanging w/me" I PROMISE YOU!

A LONG WAY BACK YOU GAVE ME ANOTHER FONT..BRADLEY IT (i think because I use that) and one below it..can I see the card with that one..although I think it is too thick...I promise we are narrowing in on this...it is just this is so so so important to me....

WITH MUCH GRATITUDE.
Claire
*Also can the circle still go a bit bigger or no?

Julie
07-29-2004, 01:52 PM
Hmm...are you talking about the font I used after you asked for Brittanic? I'm asking because I don't have a Bradley anywhere in my fonts.

The circle is just about as big as it can get...it needs some breathing room around the margin and I have to allow for printing, so I have to keep inside a "safe zone." That way, your printer won't cut off anything important.

Julie

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 01:56 PM
Hi Fair enough that is what I thought regarding the circle...if you go to page 2 you gave me 2 fonts originally and it isn't the top one it is the bottom one... I can't believe I am so "font" challenged on this dumb card. That i LOVE what you did...also in the red could we add a couple "yellow" stars just a couple...also please prepare an invoice to send to my address for an additional $100.00 crgatl17@aol.com

Thanks, Claire

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 02:09 PM
I was just on a restaurant website for a client and saw this font...and like it..in bold for me..what do you think!!(@*(#& YEAH!

can you look on this website

http://www.saucemagazine.com/tonys/menu.html

I like the font that reads "Tony's Tasting Menu" i like it alot

Thanks

Julie
07-29-2004, 02:11 PM
Hmm...I like it a lot, too...I have a tiny bit of concern about readability, but we'll see...I'm off to see if I can identify it. Until I get that done, here's a revision...

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 02:13 PM
THE bottom card is BEAUTIFUL I am so glad we added those little yellow stars...let's just see if you can find that font and if not I will probably go with that...write me either way ok?

thanks

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 02:16 PM
Also on the bottom card can you make the chef's hat just a touch smaller...it looks too big on the "R"...gosh that bottom card is really nice...oh also "catering cures" can you put that in the font that is the logo above...

Julie
07-29-2004, 02:50 PM
The longer I search and the more I look at that font you like, the more I think it's hand-drawn and not really a font. Maybe I'm wrong, but the characters aren't all the same.

So...here's the revision. I wasn't sure which font you meant, so I gave you two choices.

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 03:33 PM
Not a worry on the font...I feel like a proud mama..I like the bottom card..that "Catering Cures" font...2 more things and we are DONE..any way to make the chef's hat a touch smaller..also can add another star but a touch smaller to next to the "c" of catering cures...and if you need to take out a star on top I think I am ok w/that..as I don't want too many stars or maybe we add a little swish...or swoop whatever you think...

thanks, Claire

Julie
07-29-2004, 03:43 PM
Hey, Claire :)

Revisions on this round are finished--I've changed the font, the hat and added the star. You mentioned a swoosh--there's already a lot going on in this logo. I do think it might distract more than add. I can put one in, though, so it's up to you.

Did you have a good day?

Julie

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 03:48 PM
Hi Dear,

MUCH better on the hat...can the red star be closer to the "C"..and move the larger star over to the right a touch..and then going from left to right..the 3rd star go ahead and take away..too many stars..and we should look good...

Also can you provide me with the logo w/out the circle as there are times I get things printed that the circle won't fit.. Just the Rx for Catering, LLC the way you have it and the 3 stars...I don't need the catering cures either as it won't fit...ALSO I NEED YOUR ADDRESS MS..SO I CAN GET YOU THE ADDITIONAL MONEY YOU EARNED!

Running to the gym for a little while will be back in a little over an hours.

Julie
07-29-2004, 03:57 PM
How's this? (and I'll get you my address :)

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 03:59 PM
Slide those 2 stars down to the right a bit...
and on the logo you did that is just stars is fine...

but do another one that has just the stars and Rx for Catering, LLC...OK OK OK NOW I AM TAKING MY BUTT TO THE GYM.. My day went fine but I am working this huge Coke project and not getting enough done...how was yours...?

Julie
07-29-2004, 04:07 PM
Is it ever possible to get enough done? I'm trying to set up a freshmen orientation class for the school I work at, but as always, I'm running behind, behind, behind!

Here's the revision...

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 05:38 PM
Hi, back from the gym..what do you teach? I have a ton of friends who are teachers...

I dont know if you got my last message..if you could move the big star and the one to the right...just a bit to the right that would be good..and the last mock up that read Rx for Catering, LLC take off the words "catering cures" ~ I think I am getting calculators made and all I have room for is Rx for Catering, LLC..ooohh and serioulsy can you do another one like that ~ that reads Rx for Catering.com

Thanks then we are done and you can tell me what I do next...to get these in JPG forms I guess and to send you some more money..I am very thrilled with all of this

crgatl17
07-29-2004, 05:40 PM
Yikes, I just saw on the last one you can keep the chef's hat and doctors bag..I just need catering cures to go away..and the stars moved a touch to the right...then do the same thing but rxforcatering.com yes do it this way instead of Rx for Catering.com

Julie

Ouch you are right I got a "D" in English and my grammar is awful in case you haven't noticed. And I can't understand Shakespear to save my life....

Sweetie, you Know i adore you but could you move the big star and little star a touch to the right...also the little r doesn't work..if I could have it a big "R" then we are kool in the Rxforcatering.com

In the logo..is there a space between the "x' and the "for" it doesn't look it..

Ok, with this I am done being a pain in the ***...by any chance are you a size small or medium?

Also I have some kool stuff to send you with my old logo on it..I sent something up to Palmer and he really liked it.

Claire--you have NO idea what bad grammar is :) Besides, I'm not perfect, so I don't really worry about it unless I'm correcting papers.

OK--I've been inching those stars over, but this time I've given you a variety of placements. Are there any that work for you? Take a look at the differences between them all in the attached pic. I've got the big "R," check! I've added extra space between the "x" and "f", check!

You're not a pain! And, unfortunately, I'm not a small or medium. I wish . I eat when under stress, and I have a lot of stress :)

I'd love to see some of your items...when we're finished up, I'll send my address in the email with the file.

Have a good evening!

Really Julie, Hugs to you...you can e mail me directly at crgatl17@aol.com

These logos will be used on my website, biz cards, letterhead that I just do JPEG and print as needed and I am going to have some thank you cards printed I think and some stickers.

Can I give a printer a JPEG of the biz card for them to print from or TIF file..i would like to do that on Saturday so that can get working.

Excellent!

I'll wrap these up and send them to you tomorrow, so you'll have everything by Saturday for your printer. I'll give you the following:

JPG
GIF (web use)
PDF
EPS
TIF
WMF

That way, you'll have anything your printer might need.
