Hello Everyone,
It's time once again I need a logo for a new site. The site name is DevilChill.com. This will be a forum for ASU students, prospective students, and alumni.
Below are some of my ideas, feel free to do you own, this is just my 'vision' if you will...
Text: Devil - should be warm color, red, maroon, orange, yellow. Should represent heat, fire
Chill - should be cool colors, blue, white, silver. Should represent ice, cold
Logo: for the actual icon I'm looking for something like a devil maybe sitting back in a lay-z-boy recliner with a laptop and a beer in his hand. he should be red/maroon but in a cool, cave-arctic like environment.
The icon should be large enough that it can be placed on a t-shirt. School colors are maroon and gold.
Again, just my thoughts, feel free to do your own thing.
Contest ends: 6/30/04
Thanks everyone,
Jon

mbleigh - not exactly what I had in-mind icon wise, but you nailed the warm and cool look. I love the "L" in devil, very nice. Please be sure to include the .com as this will be going on t-shirts.

Thanks!

bogglins - you also captured the hot/cold look. I like the font, and the animated look of the devil in the "e". I don't have revisions for you yet except to be sure to add the .com.
Thanks,
Jon

Just so I'm clear...does this contest need to have the relaxing devil as well as the text, or would it be possible for just a stylized text to meet your needs...

06-22-2004, 10:41 AM
Anything is possible, I am open. I'm just described my vision. If it's just text there needs to be something of an icon like bogglins did. An icon like you did with the text is more of what I had in mind but I'm open.

Aaron-Good job with the outline, it looks great! Any chance you can color him? Here's an example of "Sparky" http://thesundevils.collegesports.com Obviously it can't be the same, I don't want copyright issues, but if you could color him I would really like to see that. Also, I'm not a fan of the font you're using at all.
bogglins-I like the slanted look you're using, I don't like the font for the .com though, can you try something else that's not so basic or looks so streched.
Thanks everyone, keep 'em coming.
Jon

Oh, I know Sparky... several of my coworkers are die hard ASU alumni. ;)
I'll see what I can do.

I bet they're the best workers in the company... :D

Nah... they're too busy partying! B)
By the way, in reference to your request to fill the devil in with color, I intentionally left him open in an effort to maintain some legibility when the logo is reduced. In an effort to keep it simple, yet add some definition to the figure, I added some broad highlights and shadows.
Is this a direction you'd like to pursue?
Thanks,
Aaron

Or maybe a little darker...

06-23-2004, 09:33 AM
That looks sweet! Can you try making the chair a different color than the devil, like a dark orange or something?
Very nice though, I love the devil, but I'm still not a fan of the font. Keep up the good work!

New font, different colors (2 color now) and new details. I'm still tweaking the face, but here's where I'm headed.
Thanks,

Very nice job both of you, I'm impressed!
deanna - please be sure to include the .com, and if you can make the devil a little fatter, don't want him scrawny looking. It almost looks like he's giving a thumbs down too, please change that.
aaron - I like it better every time. The lettering is alot nice this time. I'm not sure about the big smile on his face though. Overall very nice though.

Aaron - I love it, only thing I would say is play with the face and see if we can get that looking more devilish.
Deanna - I like it, but I think some people might mistake it for a bull, I think because of the shape of the head and the feet, that's my only concern.

Just to show you, the black and white version doesn't convert very well, but I don't know if you'll need it or not.

Radical - The devil is very cool, however I am not a big fan of the font used at all. It doesn't jump out and is far too thin.
Aaron - Just keeps getting better, I love the gold in the logo, it really ties it better with ASU by adding that color. We have no more revisions for you at this point.
Thanks,
Jon

Mark, Where have I seen that handsome devil before? ;)
Jon, I'll try to work some text out by tomorrow morning.
yeswebmaster
06-24-2004, 05:57 PM
Mark - I like the concept of a more human devil. I think the face is great, but the clothes/pose look maybe a bit to feminine. What if you put him in a white tank top. Maybe some beach shorts and flip flops. Perhaps throw a bottle in one of his hands. Also, I do not like the font for the .com, please don't use black for the .com, use one the two styles with the outline, and maybe red fill and move it under the chill. I know it sounds like alot, but I really like your concept.

Nice Michael, can I see it with some text? That devil is awesome looking.
yeswebmaster
06-25-2004, 12:03 PM
Radical - still not a big fan of the font. The .com need to be more prominent and I don't care for the gold bg around the font.
Thanks,
Jon

Michael, we would like to see the devil and above text with that box or ice like you drew in your original entry instead of the blue circle. Also would it be possible to draw devil that is more human like? We really like what you've done, we would just like to see a few more options before we make our final decision.

Here's a more human devil and an icey background.

Michael, you've very close, can you try one more thing. Can you make the last one you posted a bit more muscular or just thicker, like the arms. Also, if you could try something with the feet like making toes or "devil feet" just something as opposed to rounded stubs.
Very nice job though, I would have to say we are leaning toward your entry right now.
Thanks, keep up the good work.
