This website might just be THE place for youth workers to get all the books, movies, cds, and other resources they need to help them understand, engage and make a positive difference in the lives of teenagers. Plus, it might offer one of the largest vaults of links to other ym sites, orgs, resources on the web.
I think the "e" should be the key. It will be an ecommerce site. THE place to go to purchase YM resources ONLINE.
Looking for professional, but for those that spend alot of time with teenagers (brave? insane? real?)...instead of cartooney, think clever...instead of crazy, think creative.
Two ideas to spark something:
1) a really kewl "e" and then "youthministry.com" written out in text graphic
or
2) a friend of mine sketched a really kewl, larger "e", with "youthministry.com" actually placed inside the "e", on the middle bar of the letter...comprehende?....going with this circular graphic route, a tag line of text could also then run around the "e"...
Looking forward to seein' what ye brains pump out!

Hey, Palmer! REALLY like this first copy! How about another sample with "youthministry" in a non-cursive/more block font?
Also, I know there is a whole science to the comfortability/attractiveness of certain web colors for site visitors...Any thoughts on what color scheme should/shouldn't be?

I like the block font better than cursive/DeNealian.
Have any thoughts about this?

Are you a fan of lots of "whitespace"?
To download the images you have posted, do I just right-click and save .png files for edit in Photoshop?

I'm not much of a student of color theory or the psychology of it all. It's something I really need to work on. If you'd like to visit some of the big ecommerce sites, I tend to see a lot of calm tones. Nothing too bright or garrish.
Maybe you could visit some and get an idea of what you like.
Regarding whitespace, I think one of the best words of advice I've ever heard is "less is more". If there's too much going on, the name of the web site isn't as memorable.
Right clicking is only going to give you the png file I uploaded. The original layered file was designed in Paint Shop Pro. I'd be happy to send that to you if you think this logo will work. I can also send a layered .psd file that you can use Photoshop to work with.
Let me know...

Ok, well let me know if I can make any more changes. If you're happy with the way it is I can send you the files in various formats as well as the original layered file.
God bless, :)

Thanx again, Palmer, for ye work on this. e-youthministry is a bit on hold in priority, with another venture moving ahead to launch (cross fingers here) this Fall...
God must have some excellent digs for you in Heaven for all this effort you've brought together to help so many youth workers look good!
