Trev,

Are you PC or MAC based?

For the Business Cards, you have one name in your first post, but then refer to "Final names will be provided for bus cards".

How many names are there? Does each name need it's own file or will your printer be typesetting the names?

Must we use freely distributed fonts, or are you willing to purchase the fonts used?

So, you are requiring three full sets of files, with two different colors of blue? (Quark/EPS+CDR/AI/EPS+WORD) Is this correct? If so, what color blue do you want used in the WORD files?

Which of the files are able to be printed full bleed (no margins) and which are not?

Do you have a template for the folder instead of just dimensions? If not, are those the printable boundaries or the actual size of the folder?

Thanks.
Carl...

Thanks for the Q's

Hello Carl

I fired the printer  , so now we have a printer who is more flexible  .

1. PC or Mac?
PC based

2. Business Cards
3 names
Printer request file: 4-up
I can put in the final names, but would like the file set out ready, for printer

3. Fonts
Freely distributed

4. File types
Simplified, now that we have a printer who is more flexible:

CDR Format, blue PMS 294
Letterhead, compliment slip, business card, envelope, folder cover

CDR Format, blue PMS 293
Report cover, presentation template, fax template (B & W)

Word, BLUE PMS 293
Letterhead, report cover, fax template (B&W)

PowerPoint, blue PMS 293
Presentation template

 If you have a problem with Word or PowerPoint or CDR, just let me know and we will work something out
 As long as I can change colours from 293 to 294 to 295 in CDR. I can sort out any colour issues afterwards.

5. Bleed

Full bleed is fine on any except report cover, envelope, fax.

Allow 5mm double cut.

Presentation template is an exact A4 on screen in PowerPoint, so bleed doesn’t apply.

Please note that if you use bleed in the letterhead, which is fine, we will have to make a slight variation for the Word version (to be used for attaching letters to an email and sending electronically).
The Word version will be viewed on-screen by the recipients and sometimes printed out on their (B&W) office printers.

6. Folder Cover

 Don’t have a template
 Please see attached file for type of folder
 If using bleed, width is 430 + 5mm bleed
 Top to bottom is 306mm + 40mm for flap piece. If using bleed, allow 5mm. Total top to bottom including bleed and flap not to exceed 350mm.
 Prefer no big areas of solid colour

Hope this covers your Q’s. If not please let me know.

Many thanks. Good luck to all of you entering

Trev

Hi, Trev.
I've removed the "@" symbol from the e-mail address in your original post to protect it from the Spiders (it's a public forum, after all :) ).

I'll try to work something out for you, but I still have a few questions after your clarifications (which come out, mostly, because of me not knowing well enough the details of the business in English-spoken countries):

1. In the business card layout, there's this line which I don't completely understand: "JP (qualifications)". What I'd like to know is where do I put this "JP" in relation to the other text and what does it mean :)

2. I'm not familiar with the "With Compliments Slip", what is it used for and how does it look? What is it printed on? Is it (in general) horizontal or vertical format? Maybe you have a link to some examples? (sorry for these questions, they may look stupid, but I'm really lost :) )

3. Why do you change the PMS color for different items? Also, what does the PMS color mean for the PowerPoint media, for as far as I'm aware, it's purely on-screen format

4. The folder cover: is there any folds inside it? Do you have a link to a template? You mention 200 words count for the inside part, what would be the minimum text size, interline distance and word per line count you would like for it?

Thanks in advance ;)
Cheers!

Questions for all interested designers: Should this be split into 2 contests I.e. (1) basic stationery, (2) unusual stuff?

Hi Alexander :)

1.Business card
There will be 1 line in the layout for the person’s qualifications. The “JP” is the abbreviated qualifications as an example. On these cards, we would like it under the person’s name, and usually it is done in a much smaller font size than the name.

2. “With Compliments slip”
This gets attached to a document you send to a customer, when you don’t include a letter. Layout is usually similar to letterhead, with space to handwrite a short note. (Size 210mm x 99mm - giving you 3 to an A4 sheet)

3. PMS Colour
You can just do 1 PMS Blue as long as all files are formatted so we can change the blue in CDR.

Reason:- As you know, inks look different on screen and on printed materials. The different PMS colours enables us to have the blue look similar on screen, in print or on in-house colour laser.

4. Folder
Yes, there is a fold. Unfortunately no templates, as the printers each do different shapes and sizes. Please see the info in our reply ‘to Carl’ and the picture. The inside left copy is usually done in about 10pt and just laid out in an attractive way for the reader to see.

Thanks for the questions. Look forward to your post.

Thanks for designs Bogglins & Carl :D :D

Please note all: contest is still open - will extend for another few days - and waiting for Alex Kogan's

BOGGLINS - looks good
1 watermark/logo
* we like the large star centred as a watermark
* client would like the logo on the right
* client also prefers a white page background for interior of the star (not sure if yours is white but it appears a colour?)
* client would really like the logo on a white background. This could be achieved by rotating the star (see attached for a rough idea) or you may have an alternative idea?
* if the main design feature is a watermark, then the logo and type on the letterhead needs to look good as a stand alone I.e. when a letter is sent electronically, the watermark will be removed, as it doesn't quite work on screen or if a customer prints it out from their email attachment

2 Other copy on letterhead
* there is quite a bit more copy than the sample copy on your layout. Can you show how you would set out the copy

3 Business card
* client likes the vertical card and it suits the logo shape
* could you first review the letterhead after feedback above and then let us comment further on the card

4 Could we please see
* letterhead as per feedback. We like to print it out as an A4 letterhead to view, therefore it would help if we could have it without anything placed over it
* a rough idea of your ideas for the other materials in the package

CARL
Many thanks for your post. :D The series of stars are a fabulous idea and very attractive, but they don't fit the client's desired image. What a pity as they really look great and convey lightness and movement...!

thanks all

Here is a more conservative approach. I used the wand element as the overriding theme.

Again, I will wait for feeback before beginning further setup.

Hi Carl

Thanks for the post :D

We like: :lol2:
- logo on right, on white background
- layout of address & phone on top left, slogan underneath
- layout of card, front and back

We're not crazy about
- line with star on top. prefer not to have a solid star as this it would be just a bit too party-magic-like, and without the star the gold line would look a bit odd sitting there
- bottom right of letterhead with heavy blue line and copy above and below. the blue line feels too heavy, and the copy above and below also a bit heavy and encroaches on page
- the use of the solid gold/blue is fine, it's just the way they are used isn't quite working for client
- the small gold type at the bottom may not show up if a letter is faxed or photocopid

thanks for your persistence!!!!!!
hope you are still geared up for another go

Hello Bogglins & Carl :D

Many thanks for both your posts.

Client would be happy with either of your designs (with minor revisions as below), but would just like to see how you would handle the rest of the materials (report cover, folder, presentation template).

Could you please post your proposed design ideas for these other items so client can make a choice.

Don’t worry to make the changes below until client has chosen the winner. We need to wrap this up quickly now. Comments are below for info.

Bogglins :)
If we go with your designs, client will request:

 Watermark position and size as per the sample file we attached previously.
 Watermark tint pale enough that it won’t appear on a photocopy or fax.
 Logo top right and client will advise on positioning and size of the rest of the copy.
 Business card and envelopes are great as per your original post.

Carl :)
If we go with your designs, client will request:

 Business card as per your latest post, without the star and triangle, are great.
 Letterhead as per your latest, without the gold triangle, and with copy laid out differently (client will advise)

Please move as quickly as possible. Looking forward to your excellent work.

Calling All designers .......:)

Property Wizards requirements have been HALVED, same prize $200.00

(There was probably too much, too complicated)

1 Letterhead
2 Business Card
3 Folder Cover (outside front only - A4)
4 Presentation Template

* All files in CorelDraw or similar (no word, powerpoint etc)
* Only one PMS Blue needed - 294

So, we're making this heaps easier and more attractive. Hope to rekindle interest from all you great designers.

DEADLINE 4 August 04

Carl & Bogglins, thanks for your posts. Weˇ¦re not keen on using the star as the design focus. What we'd like is a CREATIVE IDEA.

It may be abstract . For example the folder example I sent , which is unfortunately low res and therefore unclear, but I can email a larger file to anyone that asks.

Or, the creative idea may be a sort of abstract pic resembling properties, in tints of the logo colours perhaps. One of the competitors has taken a property photo and superimposed some abstract shapes, with the whole pic made into shades of their logo colours.

You guys have stunning ideas. If you want, totally ignore my 2 cents worth above and show us something great. Just not the star.

Any Q's just fire away.

NB for the detailed copy (address etc) use as per the brief as above or just use generic copy in the meantime. I will give you the missing copy items exactly once we have chosen the design on the 4th August 2004.

Good luck to all and thanks in anticipation of fantastic work

For a common theme to run through the stationary, weˇ¦d like to use a shape similar to the shape at the top of the presentation template you posted.

( this is in fact very similar to a part of the curve on the star)

please see the attachment which has the curved shape on it

If we can do the business card first, as client is waiting to have these printed.

Business Card
„X Using the curved shape may work on the vertical card, or you may have to do it horizontal. See which looks better

„X Please group together
Dennis Ford
JP
Director(on its own line)
Mobile ˇK.

„X Then the other info is physical address, postal address, phone, fax (see attachment for details of these), email, web

„X Logo, property buyers agents, slogan

Back of business card
„X Details as per your last post
„X Please take phone and fax noˇ¦s from latest attachment
„X Please include (licensed real estate ˇK.) as per the bottom of the attached file.
„X and (licensee ˇK..) as per the bottom of the attached file. This last licensee piece can go in tiny print as we only include it because we have to.

Carl, I cant write up the rest of the info tonight as I have to shoot out but will post the other info tomorrow. Please can you start with the business card as soon as you can

Good work. :D Card looks good vertical

Front
„X We like the design & layout as is. Few details:
„X "JP¨ needs a line of itˇ¦s own.(Dennisˇ¦s qualifications take up 2 letters, some people have 5 words & some like me have no quals)
„X Can you align the tel noˇ¦s on the right (bit of space after tel)
„X Fonts donˇ¦t all look the same. Probably a mistake on the file I sent. I thought all were swiss light. Can you pls fix
„X Also, website looks like slightly smaller font size, should be same

Back
„X Layout also good
„X On the back, some extra colour can make the card stand out when it lies around. Please see files I will email for ideas. You donˇ¦t have to replicate exactly, but the property wizards colours work quite well in the example
„X In the bottom section could you do the following:
„X Just under the blue line could you fit Licensed Real Estate Agents, Property Buyerˇ¦s Agents, Property Consultants, Member REIWA
„X If possible, same font size as tel noˇ¦s
„X logo
„X int tel etc
„X the licensee part takes up4 lines. Can you make it 2?

Once the cards are final and approved, can do ready for printer 4-up. I will fill in the other names, mobiles, quals and positions as well as the slogan & bullet points if I donˇ¦t get these to you in time

Letterhead
You can base it on the file sent. Just tidy up, align, all fonts same, pleasing to the eye etc any other modifications it needs

Presentation template
Probably similar to your template posted previously, modified to follow the shape, colour, etc for the letterhead and business card, and rather remove the background and keep a clear background

Folder cover
We put one of the clientˇ¦s marketing docs onto a similar format (I will email to you). We can probably use the front and back pages of this for the folder cover. Can you just tidy it up, make it look smooth, neat and pleasing to the eye. I may need to replace the pics as these are just taken from the coreldraw disk of stock pics. But see what you can do with it. I will also email another folder to show how they have handled the cover
