Well I said I would post a contest when I got some money to my name and I just got my paycheck from my crappey school job so here you go...

The site is CampFunny.com (http://CampFunny.com). It is a humor site that will include jokes, funny images, comics, and Audio Clips. There is some content up at CampFunny.com but don't base your template off of that.

The site should reflect the domain name- I don't have a logo as of right now. It needs to be fast loading, with text navigational links. A fun theme is always good for humor sites :)

I need to have a newsletter sign up in a prominant spot. It will have 2 text fields (name & email) and a submit button. I also want a banner ad on the top of the page. Another important aspect is the ability to add links, text ads, button ads, and poster images along the side of the content. Kind of like how jokesplace.com does it.

As for a deadline... I am in no hurry. I won't be able to work on the site until after the holidays anyways (I am putting in a lot of hours at work so people can spend quality time with their families- aren't I nice?) so don't rush...

I think I covered all of the details but it is early in the morning so if I left anything out just ask, I will be more then happy to answer/ explain anything more in detail.

On a side note... I will most likely ask the winner to design some banners that are related to the design as long as their fees are reasonable.

It's about 90% complete at this point. I have to tweak it a bit. I should have it ready for review this afternoon or evening. Not sure what time zone you're in so let's just say within 8-12 hours of this post :)

Thanks for the entry. I like the color scheme but overall it isn't "fun" enough. I know thats a pretty generic comment but I just don't get the feeling of a humor site from it.

Its defintly on the "fun" side- which is a good thing. Although I don't get the feel that it is related to the domain name. Which I kind of wanted for this one. You know a "campy" type feel :rolleyes:

On a side note, if you decide not to modify this one for the contest I may be able to buy it off of you for a different domain- although I would probably have to lower the price a little bit... the other site has a lower budget...

Ok Dan, I really need to read these posts better before I enter :P Not sure if I can make this design "campy" from what I have currently, not really the right colors to do that. I might start from scratch on another one or try to modify this one.

I'm glad you're interested in it for another site, it'd be kind of a shame to have it go to waste. I really think it has potential. It's completely my fault for not following your directions. I'll r e a d s l o w e r next time :)

I immediatly wanted to join in on the design-fun so here is my design , the frog ( just temporarely ) came from a free clipart site. I cvan allways change certain things about it so just let me know what you think :)

I didn't see any minimum resolution , so I started with 640x480 .

ok folks sorry for not being around much I was working too much overtime, but now that the holidays are over I have a few days off :) (where's nanaman (http://scoutingforums.org/forums/images/smilies/banana.gif) when you need him?)

ok, instead of saying the same things over and over I am just going to post some generalized comments. All the designs are good. Unfortunetly it seems like its kind of hard to balance between fun and camping themes. The onle one that has been able to do this so far is palmer's 2nd design. Although the spider is kind of scarey ;)

I think I will leave this open for a few more days, A winner will be decided on Jan 6th. (so if you have any other entries get them in by the 5th).

Glad you liked it. The spider was chosen somewhat metaphorically combining the two elements "camping" and the "web". I think it will only scare the visitors that have a fear of cartoon spiders ;)

Of course if it's chosen as the winner, that spider can easily be replaced with something more friendly, like a mosquito :)
