Hey guys. Friend Alliance is a non profit I consult for looking for a template for a new site. I am giving you carte blance with creativity on this one. Then only requirement set forth by the client is that the nav bar run across the screen rather the up and down. You also need to leave space for the logo, which is 2 doves carrying a red ribbon.
$150 to the winner.

So the last paragraph of your post should be removed right? :D

Even with money on the offer, no one wants to work on this? Sad... :help:
I was a little confused by this statement when the title of the contest says $150...
I appreciate any efforts you guys can contribute, if you guys design something stellar, I can probably send you a little $$ ($50-$100) for your troubles.
Is it possible for you to get the logo from them?? Would certainly help the design process... :)

It's Easter weekend, I would imagine they have other things on their schedule. You need to edit your post to reflect that it's a contest now. Also it usually takes about 4 to 5 days before an entry is posted in a template contest. Please be patient.
One more thing, if you could be more descriptive of what you're looking for it would help. You can look at this post to see what I mean...

http://www.friendsalliance.org is the existing site which I did for them a few years back.
They are a human services organization offering education and counseling for persons affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. I don't know what else to say.

Ok, thanks. It takes a few days to get things cooking. Thanks for the extra info. You should start seeing entries by mid week or sooner.

I've got quite a few applications from designers that have very nice portfolios when it comes to web design, but their logos aren't quite up to the standard I expect from the Design Team. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to get them on board but make it a conditional membership. Have them just enter template contests.
These contests always go sooooo slow in the beginning. It's almost like no one wants to make the first move.
Logos and templates require different skills, so maybe that is something to look at.

I'm going to start a design for you this afternoon after I get some other work finished up. Should have something to post later on tonight, or early tomorrow (Wednesday).

I didn't recall there ever being any clarification on the logo issue...you mentioned it like there was one available; so I gather people were waiting for you to post it.

Here is my entry into the contest. I took the navigation from your current site, and also pasted some of its' content to give it a real-world layout. The logo, as you will see, is just a quick compliation of a ribbon and two doves. If you'd like more thought put into that, let me know.
I usually don't get a chance to work on an "elegant" design (most of my stuff is for the corporate realm), so I really enjoyed being able to try new something different here.

Let me get some feedback on that from them.
As far as me... I love it.

LOL... I have no idea what it means... but they said they like the colors but it is a bit to femenine and the rose and lady have to go... they said it looks like something for breast cancer or viagra. I would drop the rose and replace the lady with something very diversified and inclusive.. like a group of black men and women mixed with white... something like that

Haxorboi,
I'll work on those revisions this morning and have something to post later on today. If I drop the rose (it's actually a tulip) I was thinking a good replacement would be a photo of the building/offices. I'd just like some images in there instead of simply text; to break it up. Any other photo ideas would be great too.
thanks,

hi
im new to this forum and have a few questions?
- is there any deadline?
- how will you pay?
Hi aazevedo,
If you are interested in entering the competitions here, you need to first apply to become a 'Design Outpost Designer' which you can do so here.

hi demex
after posting my 1post i went to read forum rules and realised that, i already applyed for it.
thanks for warning.
No problem... Didn't want you spending time on a design and then finding out you wouldn't be able to post it. :)

Following are my revisions to the design. Colours are the same, but I have switched up the photos in the header to more closely match what you're looking for in terms of diversity. I replaced the tulip with a shot of an office building, but we can put whatever you want in there instead. Right now it's just a place holder.

It is coming... :)
Where has all the info gone from the first post?
Could you add the link to the current site again please?

Zoe, I moved it with the original post from the charity cases forum. Here's the missing link :D
Their existing site, which they hate is at *http://www.friendsalliance.org/
I started with the logo and could not decide which I liked so I have created the template around both.
The logo is available in print format too. : )

Demex, lets see Design 2 with clear fonts, like Arial..
Hi,
I have now used CSS to control all of the text on the page. The only copy that is an image is 'Live a fuller, happier life...'
Colours can easily be changed if required.

Haxorboi,
Any feedback on my current design? If you wish, I could also lighten up the colours and provide another look for it. Let me know.
Thanks,
geof
