(Admin code added by Michael - F7709931)

prize: $100.00

deadline: July 30th

company: Beachbubbles Soap Company. We are a small company making and selling handmade soap. We are based in Florida and as you can probably guess, have a coastal, beachy theme.

logo: I would like a starfish as a main element of the logo as we have been using a starfish from the beginning. I would also like bubbles. I would like for the logo to reflect that we are an upscale company but still be cute. I like the feeling of www.bloomcosmetics.com.
The logo will be used on my packaging printed in black on various color labels. I would use a color version for my website. I would like the CMYK and RGB color codes and JPG and PSD formats.

I hope I covered everything. I am so excited to get started!!!

Oops! Forgot something. I would like to have the word handmade in the logo as in beachbubbles handmade soap company but with the handmade part smaller. Also I have been using all lowercase letters, however, I am open to everything.

Wow I am so encouraged by the quick responses! This is so much fun! Okay, here are my thoughts:

Coxy: Your logo is cute but a little more basic than what I had in mind.

teetee: I don't think it would work for my labels because although I do want color it also needs to look good in black and white as it will be printed in black on my labels.

Deanna: I like it but it just isn't grabbing me. I definately prefer no face on the starfish. Maybe more vibrant colors?

Samoyloff: This is a lot more cartoonish than I want.

Michael: This is my favorite so far. Could you do it with a different starfish and more bubbles?

I think I am probably more attracted to brighter colors, maybe aqua, turquoise, along those lines. My soap is not geared towards women exclusively but I am drawn to things a bit more girly. I want it to be cute and fun but still upscale. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for all of the submissions! Just to clarify, the company's name is beachbubbles soap company. I did want to incorporate handmade into the logo also. The beachbubbles is plural and one word.

Deanna: I'm not crazy about the big bubble under the starfish. Like I said, I really can't put my finger on it but it's just not the feel I want.

Amanda: I really like it. I love, LOVE the starfish! If you can, I'd like to see it with bubbles instead of swirls and in brighter colors- shades of aqua or turquoise. I like the feel of the font but it makes the lowercase b's look life f's to me. Thank you!

Paula: The first 2 aren't really what I'm looking for. I like the third one. The font is great! I'm not crazy about the beachballs. Could you put a starfish where the balls are and maybe add some little bubbles? Thanks!

Brian: Thanks for the submission. It's not really what I'm looking for.

I have a habit of not really showing what I'm thinking about with certain designs.

The above was meant to (and did in my head) work more like this:

My favorites so far are,

Michael: I'd love to see your version with a different starfish and more bubbles.

Nvoke: Beachbubbles is one word. Not crazy about the font.

Alex: Great blue! Just what I'm looking for. I really like the feel of your logo. It's a little whimsical but still feels upscale. I'm not crazy about the font or starfish.

Paula: I like it but I'm having trouble picturing it in black and white.

Overall I just want to say that the closest starfish is Nvoke's and the closest font is Paula's. I am definately drawn to the more whimsical fonts. The font in Nvoke's first entry would have been my favorite if it didn't make the b's look funny. The finished logo has to look good in black and white. I've been out of town this weekend but when I get home tommorrow I'll look up fonts that I like and post them.
If there is anything more specific that I could add that would be helpful please just let me know. Thanks everyone!

Okay, I'm back at home with access to my computer so hopefully I'll be able to provide more useful feedback!

Paula, the more I look at your starfish, the more I like it! I think the multicolor was throwing me. I'd probably prefer it in on color.

Nvoke, could you make the b's lowercase please?

If y'all wouldn't mind, I'd love to see one with a border. I'm not set on these fonts but I do like CaslonNo 54OD, CAC Pinafore, and Balmoral D. To give you an idea of the kind of colors I'm looking for, my present logo has an RGB code of 58,230,255, I would like to see both logos (or any others) in 2 colors along that line and also in greyscale. Thanks so much!!!:D

Hi Paula
I love the orange border. Could I see it in the blue and in CAC Pinafore please? I'd also like to see the same thing without the border and in the gray that you used on the last borderless logo. Also I think you might have used CaslonNo 224 maybe instead of CaslonNo540D which is more of a script than block.
Thanks a bunch!

If anyone has any ideas in a different dirrection, I'd still love to see them!

Teetee, Yes, I am looking for a fairly simple look. I like your last one. Nice font, pretty color I just don't like the starfish.

Amanda, Could you add handmade soap company please? Maybe a different border?

Paula, I like the font you used in the last orange border logo (Zircon?) I definately want to stick with blues, turqoise, aqua type colors though. I would like the color to be light but not dull like a pastel. Light but still bright? Does that make sense?

This is harder than I thought it was going to be! I know what I want (sort of) but it's really hard to put it into words to explain.
Other soap comapny logos I like (different in specifics to what I want but similar in feel) are at www.dirtysoap.com and www.soap-studio.com. I LOVE Dirty Soap's colors. My packaging is a little like the packaging at www.daviesgate.com. Scroll to perrenials for the soap.

Anyway Paula's entry here http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4439&perpage=30&highlight=soap&pagenumber=2 has a color scheme very much like what I've been trying (probably not very well:blush: ) to describe.

Taldo, Hey, wer're practically neighbors! I used to live in Boynton Beach but just moved up to Melbourne. Thanks for your submission. I like it except for the color scheme. I posted a link to another logo that has the colors I'm looking for.

Teetee, thank you for the latest- it's very cute!

Paula, I think I was posting that link to your Bubble Bee logo at the same time you were making your post. As I said, I like them all but I think my favorites are the second and third. My only concern is that they're 3 colors and I was hoping to stay with 2. I can't really figure out any way around it though because the 3rd color is important in the designs. I'm going to check into the price difference between 2 and 3 color printing. My old labels were 1 color (reverse printing) but with the new logo I was thinking about printing them myself for a while. These are so pretty in color though so i might have to bite the bullet and have the labels printed. My poor hubby will be thrilled:rolleyes: . New logo and replacing all of my packaging is a lot more fun for me than him. Okay, having rambled on aimlessly, may I please see the 2nd and 3rd in greyscale?

Hi, I hope these are the 2 logos you were talking about.:)
I gave you 2 color, greyscale, and black and white for each. If your labels are white than we can modify.I included a couple (with 3 colors) white being the 3rd color. But if your labels are white then it would only be 2.
Thanks,Paula

Paula: Wow this is getting hard! They really look great!:D Out of the first 4 with the 3 color scheme I think now I'm torn between the first 2 circles. Out of the ones with 2 colors I like the first one. My labels would be white so that isn't a problem but I think I still like the blue starfish the best. I hope I'm not being too big of a pain but can I see the first circle in a 2 color scheme? This is going to be hard beacause I really like the 3 color look but just hate to pay the printing on 3 colors. Are these the colors you used in your first Bubble Bee submission? I know you said you had to go a little darker but I was just wondering. That was such a cute logo. I don't mind asking for the same colors since that isn't the logo that was ultimately chosen. Thanks for all your work!

Amanda: Those are really cute. I love the colors and fun, upbeat feel!

Taldo, Thank you! That is very nice, much more what I wanted color-wise!

Paula, I am looking into printing costs to determine if 3 colors is an option. I love the 2nd circle using 3 colors. I also really love the same circle in the green and blue from the first grooup of 2 color choices. It is 5 posts up, 1st logo. I'm curious if you have an opinion about any of them. Do you feel like any would print better than the others? I'm possibly considering digital printing, what do you think of that?

To Everyone, it probably sounds like Paula is the winner. I have not selected a winner yet as my deadline is still 9 days away. However, due to the amazing response, I will most likely end the contest on Friday the 23rd. If there are any other entries, I'd love to see them!

Paula23
07-21-2004, 08:31 AM
Hi,
Attached are the 2 I would suggest would print the best. The second being one that you mentioned, the first is the one I like the best. It would still be only 2 colors if printed on white. As far as printing goes I would ask your printer how their process works. I would think standard printing would supply the best quality, while laser/digital would be faster.I would weigh the pricing and quality and go with what works best for you. I'm sure both could provide you with what you are looking for as a finished result. I hope this was helpful.
Thanks,Paula

Thank Paula! I'm now showing them around until I get enough opinions to comfuse me! Another qustion for you: For special holiday scents I was hoping the label could be printed in cranberry and sage (not together- 2 different labels). This is an option if I end up using digital printing. I can fumble my way through basic Photoshop applications so I was wondering is the file I would get from you such that I could change the colors?

Paula23

Hi Paula,
Okay one more thing I was thinking about- not sure how it would work though. My soap is packaged in a white wrapper. The soap is positioned vertically for labeling. I wrap a ribbon around the middle and a circle label is on top of that. My labels are white. Now, I was thinking that maybe the logo should have a circle around the outside to create a border on the label so that I'm not putting white on white. Like I said, not sure if it would work. What do you think?

Paula23
07-21-2004, 12:26 PM
Hi, That shouldn't be a problem. You still have a number of options. I attached some mock-up's of the 2 logos. as label layouts. The outside border being the edge of the label.
Thanks,Paula

Paula I have another request. At this point I should add pretty please with sugar on top:) . I'm trying to be sure I can find ribbon to match the colors in the logo. I know it's hard to match perfectly since the colors on the screen aren't exact but I want to be sure I'm as close as possible to start and then I can tweak the colors later if I have to. I am looking at these ribbons as a possibility http://www.jkmribbon.com/mrxgros.html in turquoise, mint or possibly aqua. http://www.jkmribbon.com/offray/gros.html in turquiose, navajo turquoise, or lemongrass. http://www.jkmribbon.com/grosgrain.html in tropic. I don't have a strong preference on any of the colors but just need to be sure one will work.

Paula23
07-22-2004, 08:37 AM
Hi,
I like the 'Navajo Turqoise", and I like the "Lime Juice" on the Offray Ribbons Website.I think either of these colors would compliment the logo colors without overpowering them.Let em know if you need any more info.
