I need a bold but simple logo for my dog training business. I want a new identity for my services, which specialize in dogs adopted from shelters and rescues.

The file I've attached is a scan of my current business card, which depicts the type of dog I'd like to incorporate into my logo. I'd like to characterize dogs that some folks might think of as "bad", "tough" or challenging, but with some softness around the edges, such as the boxer pups shown on the card.

The company name is BADDogsInc LLC (BAD=my initials). I'd like to incorporate the whole name in the logo, perhaps using all lower case, in some rounded block font which might suggest toughness or strength, but softness at the same time.

Perhaps the company name depicted could be used as a structure that dog characters could use to lounge upon or lean on. Dog characters used in the logo should be tough but soft at the same time. The dogs should convey attitude, sense of humor (we don't like to take ourselves too seriously!)

It should also incorporate the tag line "good dogs getting better"

The logo should be one color, preferably a line drawing with bold lines and curves & suitable for letterhead, business cards & embroidering shirts, hats & other company identity products/items.

The final product will need to be delivered in jpg and some layered file format to make the printer people happy.

Thanks for considering my project!

Barbara

Hi Barbara. Just as a quick FYI: Your one-color logo should be delivered as a vector EPS (that will make the printer people VERY happy! ) and of course the JPG for your own use. Good luck with your project!!!

I'm blown away by these responses and all the different interpretations. I'm really looking forward to working with you guys again on future projects.

I truly loved Alexander's submission as I am particularly drawn to the symmetry. The drawback is that the concept is a little more "corporate" (maybe "grown-up" is a better word?) for what we're trying to convey...

Deanna's layout and the fonts used were very close to what I had originally envisioned (bold yet soft curves), but something about the cartoon dogs just didn't do it for me. And while I was trying to figure out what I might like to change about that, then ...

Tee-tee jumped in with something I hadn't thought of at all. The concept of the two dogs squaring off with the bone between them brought out a feeling I wouldn't have thought of on my own. For those that are familiar with dog stuff, the bone between the two dogs would be a huge conflict, but the fact that the dogs sit quietly facing each other with the object of desire between them (untouched) is a dog trainer's dream...

But ultimately, Amanda's design (the last submitted) is the one that pushed my "yes!" button. The cartoon dog is unique, a bully type with a soft countenance, and the fonts and layout are just different enough from what everyone else is doing to be eye-catching without being over-complicated. So I'm going to close this down now and get going on completing the "corporate identity". There's just a couple of tweaks I'd like to do that I don't think will require a ton of work, so I'm looking forward to final revisions and completing the project.

Thanks again to everyone who considered my project, and especially to those who participated.

Amanda,

Thanks so much for reading my mind! This really takes me where I want to go.

The only real "correction" needed at all is to remove the period (".") after the corporate name "BADDogsInc" is the actual name.

The two formats of the concept you have up there now I think will lend themselves to lots of applications, such as business cards, letterheads, etc. I also could use a slightly more "square" rendition of the same look that would work on t-shirt pockets, ball caps and golf shirts.

I was thinking in terms of moving the "LLC" and the tag line down under the "BADDogsInc", and possibly scooting the dog's portrait left so it's either left-justified or centered over the text. (I have no senses of proportion or artistic balance, so whichever way you think is best works for me). The reason for doing this is that I only have a few inches of width to squeeze the embroidery into, so if the logo is much wider than it is high, I lose readability and detail on the stitching.

So is it possible to keep what we have now AND come up with a slightly modified "square" version for the embroiderer? If you'd like a uniform "T" or ball cap, I'd be happy to send you one...

hey barbara,
okay i removed the period on the originals and below is the more rectangle version, i hope this is what you had intended..the LLC posed a bit of problem below the baddogs so i left it where it was..

and as for the gifts i would love either of them, it's totally up to you, and i'll be sure to send you my address when i deliver the files to you,
thanks so much,
amanda:)

I think this'll do it! I'm very excited about getting started. As soon as the image files are available I can get started on printing and embroidery.

Great job! I'm really looking forward to working with this team on templates for my web site, brochures and other projects!

Barbara

PS. I'm sending all my friends here, too...
