View Full Version : Inviting designers to contest...

Hello-

From what I've read in other posts, I am able to send a single PM to a designer that has not yet participated in my contest to tell them that I like their work and respectfully ask for an entry from them.

I've been trying to use PM, but it doesn't seem to work. I know other clients who've used this before and their suggestions don't seem to work either. Can I get a little help with this or have another suggestion about inviting a specific designer?

Tons o' thanks.

Hello

Are you saying you are having problems with using private messaging?

:)

This is the message I get when I click on "New Message" in the PM section (of course, I'm logged in):

"testme has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

I've been told by a friend who has used it and that he is able to click on it, type a name in, and send it along. I can't get that far.

Ok I apologise if this comes across that I'm patronising you :)

Guide:

Click on the button http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/images/top_profile.gif which is found at the top of the forum.

Then the text link 'Private Messages' found to the right.

Next http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/images/pm_sendnew.gif

Type in the Recipient or click on the 'Find user names' text link

Once you have filled out the message click 'Send Message'

Again I apologise if I’ve gone over what you already know or have tried.

Another way that may be easier would be to click on the PM button below one of the posts from that person. That's what I do... I don't trust my typing to do it myself ;)

:D

I didn't suggest that as some are having issues with it i.e. another members name is being displayed

Oh, oops

Ok, forget what I said... I'm just a lowly designer anyway ;)

So far the only way I have found to solve that annoying bug is to use a different browser or close your browser for 5 minutes, reopen it and try again.

Don't know what to tell you...I've tried doing this at least 5 times and it never worked. I tried one more time just for the heck of it (without any changes) and it works fine now. :bang: I'll let you know if I encounter another "hiccup". Thanks guys.

The 'Cure' for this seems to be to wipe your cookies and temp internet files and then log back in. This seems to fix the problem permanently.

Great! I'll make sure to do that if I encounter any more problems.

You all are awesome about responding to clients' questions and concerns (and the help comes from everyone!) Thanks again and know that you guys have a great thing going...
