Hi All

We need a new look/logo for our company called Snowball Internet. We are offering $100 for this.

We are an Australian based internet service provider, but also offers a range of technology solutions like home/office automation.

We would like our logo to include a little snowball character as a sort of mascot that people can identify with. It must come across as fun, friendly and helpful. Later we would ideally like to be able to feature the little mascot as part of icons on our website and advertising. It should obviously be suitable for both print and the web. Being able to animate it at a later stage would also be useful.

We would later need business cards, letterheads and a website designed.

Let your creative juices flow!

Hello,

Here we go;

The character and logo concepts are both suitable for animation.
If you are happy with the concept, I can work on different fonts.

Hi efekt,

Here is a try from me :)

Great start thanks guys, still looking for that "inspired" look though ... ;)

msaygin:
like your idea especially the way it seems like the snowball has zoomed in at speed! The character itself just looks a little bug-eyed and confused to me, would prefer him to look a bit more intelligent/knowledgable!

hypnosis:
like the 3d look, also the SNOWBALL text having more emphasis than the internet.

msaygin:
was hoping to see your entry develop further, really liked your concept!

Hypnosis:
Love the paws you added, really helps to add character. Looking at him something just doesn't quite sit right though. Looks little bit pokemonish maybe. Also is it possibly to change the ears a bit. My eyes tend to sometimes focus on "open" eye and seems like a nose, so maybe he needs a little nose?

Bill:
I like your idea, maybe we can develop the character a bit. He certainly seems pretty smart (nerdy maybe) and helpful. I think we need him to be a little more sophisticated, or even cheeky/fun, like he has a bit of a naughty streak.

Hi,

Ok, I was very busy today but I will post a revision tomorrow :) Thanks for your patience.

Hi and thanx for the comments again :)

I modified it acording to your suggestions, but I kept it all round originally (the ears and all the rest) because of the Snow"ball" feel I wanted it to have :)

Awaiting feedback :)

Hi,

Here is my modified snowball;

http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/sblogo3.jpg

http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/sblogo4.jpg

And some color variations with my favourite version;

http://www.mehmetsaygin.com/do/sblogo5.jpg

There are 2 different snowballs above, 2 types of mouths.

If you are not happy with the face expression, I can keep working on it.
Btw, my favourite of all is "A"

msaygin:
The eyes are better now, but I think I did prefer more of a smile. Could we try a variation on 1 with the INTERNET smaller and underneath the SNOWBALL somehow?

Yannick:
looks good ... could we try without the "hair" or changing that part a bit, also the SNOWBALL itself without the snow and no fading out toward the bottom?

OK guys, to be honest, so far there is nothing that really grabs me and says "that's the one I want!".

I think we need to focus on just the character for a bit. I didn't want to do this as I was looking for a new look, but maybe looking at our (soon to be) old website will give you more of an idea of what we're after. http://www.snowballnet.com.au

I think what's lacking for me is some colour/fun while keeping it professional. Looking at many other contests on this site and the entries there, this is surely possible. What about a character that wears a little suit and tie e.g. or a beanie. At this point I'm not even worried about it being able to be animated or not.

Can I ask what about our contest causes such a lack of interest?

In general:
I think you're all brilliant ... I appreciate the effort you all go to. No doubt it drives you all nuts when someone's really fussy!

amanda:
Looks great ... could I ask to see what he would look like with arms/hands ... we may sometimes need him to hold a phone or a PDA or something like that, or pumping iron etc.

RadicalSeed:
At first I didn't like it, but it's growing on me ... could we see the "snowballman" with hands the same colour as the head, it may help to make the head look more a part of the body?

msaygin:
could we see 1D with short arms (and legs?) looking like he's running?

bill:
could we have him a darker blue to stand out a bit from the name?

OK guys, I've been searching and found a character that closely resembles what I want. It is Mike from Monsters Inc! Obviosuly I'd prefer 2 eyes, but the shape is what I want. A snowball with arms and legs like this. I'd prefer a colorful 3D look, so while the body can be whiteish (or a light color) the eyes and mouth can be blue/green/red whatever, maybe with slighly blushed cheeks etc.

Think of it as a 3D snowball emoticon/smiley with arms/legs.

Deanna:
I need more color in the design. Our printing requirements will be mostly full color, so don't just limit to 2 colors.
I think for instance if the lines forming the teeth were black, the "lips" red, the eyebrows black, the pupils of the eyes black and maybe the SNOWBALL text a red matching the lips?

Tonya:
I'd prefer more color. The design is a bit plain for me.

RadicalSEED:
It's just not working for me ... it should be a ball with short arms and legs, not a man with a snowball as a head.

Nvoke:
The arm looks a bit wrong to me, maybe it's because there's only one arm, or just where it leaves the head?

msaygin:
ok, if he's not going to be running, a change of fonts ... bit more color? Also a bigger smile, bit more like your first post.

bill:
could we have him a darker blue to stand out a bit from the name?

aaron:
I think your character has a lot of character, a bit evil looking though, need helpful/friendly/fun and also text to be different color from the snowball character to make him stand out more please.

Yannick:
can we try without the ears? and with the SNOWBALL text in red?

Contest will end Thursday 12th of August

You have just restored my faith in DO! Great job!

Thanks Amanda and Deanna, no need to make any more changes for now. Let me just see what the others come up with. Looks like I finally managed to express my needs properly because you both have done outstanding jobs. Well done! I can see it's now going to be hard to choose!

Not at all. The client asked for a snowball guy with arms and legs, so the concept is open to all.

Still waiting for your idea?

Tonya:
I like this one better than the first. No need to make any changes.

It's good ... not sure about the eyes though?

Deanna:
The idea is good, I prefer one of the smaller noses as per previous post.

To give you all a fair chance would you at least just post a message saying whether you're still interested in submitting changes requested?

Anyone:
Trying to get info of anyone or sending anyone a PM just gives me an error showing a wrong user "johannasunbeam" with 0 posts does not accept PM's. Any ideas?

I believe you can solve that problem by clearing your browser's cache. I had a similar issue recently and clearing the cache solved it for me. If that doesn't work, read through the Bug Reporting Thread (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4770) in the Help Desk Forum to find more info.

Just as a reminder, designers aren't allowed to communicate privately with clients during a competition. I don't know if you were trying to PM someone who had already posted an entry here or not, but figured I'd let you know just in case. We have that rule so that everyone has equal information during the process.

Thanks Tonya, got it working

Was just trying to send a PM to someone who had posted early on, but had never responded to any of my feedback/requests. Wanted to see first of all if he had been back to DO since then (which he has on many occasions) so sent him a PM just asking if he's still around, still interested ...
