I told you I would be back. First, I wanted to thank those of you who helped my friend Denise from Dynamic Concepts. She was extremely happy with the results from this forum. Once again you made me look good for suggesting DesignOutpost.com.
I need a logo design for a new lawn and landscape maintenance company.
Here are some things to keep in mind for the design:
1) Company Name: NCC Lawn and Landscaping Maintenance
2) The NCC are the first letter of the names of the owner's children. Owner originally wanted to use a photo of her children in the logo. She has 3 kids and 1 on the way. It would probably be good to somehow represent the children in the logo.
3) The owner has a commercial janitorial service (see attached logo). The colors in the logo are Maroon & Navy. It is not a requirement, but it might be good to tie the companies together somewhat through the logos.
4) No more than two spot colors in the logo
5) Logo needs to be printable as a one color image.
I have an order of promotional items waiting on this design so my goal is to decide on a winning design in less than two weeks (the sooner the better).
Thanks,
Robin

Did I do something wrong or offend someone? It's been several days and no one has expressed any interest in this job.
Wondering why...

Hi Robin.
I've been planning on entering but I haven't been able to think of a way to represent the children into a landscaping logo. Is she stuck on this idea or was that more of a thought?
I will continue to work on it anyway, but I was just curious.
Thanks in advance.

Jason,
Representing the children is an option. She originally was going to use a photo of the children, but she was able to see pretty quickly that it would be difficult to put on anything but paper. I think she's flexible, just looking for something professional-looking.
Thanks for asking,
Robin

How about a symbolic representation? I've got four leaves, each a different size in the bottom one--they represent the children.
In the first two, you can look at them in different ways. One has bending blades of grass, the other could be looked at as mower tracks. The thing to note is that there are four of them, one for each child.

I will be making a decision on this logo this week. The two designs submitted have potential, but I was hoping to see a few more options before deciding. Right now, I consider this contest to be wide open for anyone who would like to enter.
Thanks,
Robin

Julie & Deanna - no need for revisions right now. They both look good. I was just looking for a couple more ideas before making a decision. I don't like to have several people taking time make revisions unless we're close. It just seems like a waste.
Jason - thanks for the new entry, it looks good.
If anyone has ideas that would require a different color scheme, feel free - the navy/maroon are just one option.
Thanks for taking the time to enter.

Jason,
I just noticed - "maintenance" is misspelled in your entry. Could I get you to put up a version with it spelled correctly?
Thanks,
Robin

Great entries - one comment
nvoke - it should be NCC not NNC.
I will be presenting these options to the decision-makers tomorrow. Hope to have an answer soon.
Thanks,
Robin

All,
I just wanted to provide an update and explain the delay in reaching a decision on the logo. The primary decision-maker on this project is about 6 months pregnant. She has had some problems, so her doctor has put her on bedrest. She is coming into the office occasionally, but as you can imagine, this is not her top priority. I will let you know as soon as anything changes.
Thanks for your patience,
Robin

Hi. I came across this thread and had a new idea. The tree has 4 branches representing each child "growing".....

Taldo,
Thanks for the entry - I like the abstract way that you've represented the children. I will pass this on to the owner. She's still on bedrest with her pregnancy, so I'm not sure how fast any decisions will be made.
Thanks,
Robin

Tonya,
I'm going to see if I can revive this with my client. This got put way back on her back burner because of a pregnancy and some other personal things.
Thank you,

My client has decided on a logo from a different source, so I won't be able to use any of the results from this project. Thank you for your ideas - I'll let the group designate the winner.
Thanks again,
Robin

Nvoke's design from post #118 was selected by a poll (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?p=186559).
