Contest Closes: August 22nd

We are rebranding our "internet services" company and need a new logo. Our company is Electric Toad Internet Solutions Incorporated (www.electrictoad.com). Yes, a long name - but easily brandable and memorable. :) (Please note that this entire website is going to change. This is the site we've had for a few years and it will soon be redesigned. A new logo is step #1 and the new website will be designed around the logo you design.)

Our Company
Our market is mostly small/medium business customers who want premium personal service. We differentiate ourselves from other "internet services" companies by offering truly personal service to our clients - and we charge a premium for it. ie: extensive face to face contact, phone calls, etc in exchange for decent/realistic pricing.

We provide the following services: internet consultation (ie: how can I use the internet and will it help my business), general "computer use" consultation (what kind of backup system do I need? Where can I get desktop support,etc..), web design & application programming, website and email hosting, domain registration, and a specialized content management application. Our primary focus for recurring revenue is on web hosting.

Logo Overview
The logo must be a clean, professional design that can be used on our web site and also on our print advertising, letterheads, etc. The logo must be simple enough so it can be "scalable" and still look great on small items (online small ads/business cards) and also on big things (larger print advertising).

The logo should contain some sort of "graphic" feel besides just plain stylized text. In other words, we want more then just nicely colored text only. I hope that makes sense. Also, please note that the logo doesn't need to have an "electricity" feel or have a "toad" in it. :) However, the logo should "fit" with the company name somehow. We're not sure how to do that, hence we have come to the graphically enhanced idea people here at designoutpost for help! :)

If you feel the logo works with a slogan in it, then go for it. If a slogan isn't appropriate to include in the logo.. then leave it out.

Most of all, the log should be memorable and should illicit some sort of "hey, that's different" response from viewers. The idea is to use the logo as part of our branding effort.

Colors / Style
From a color perspective we prefer warm and easy colors like the popular metal blue and light blue sort of look/feel. To be honest, we do really like the orange/blue colors of the logos here: besthostingspot.net / eperfect.net / ecphosting.com (I think the contrast on the white background is great.)

Note that these example sites represent the colors we like and not necessarily the style of the logo. :) In all honesty, if you envision something totally different, please go for it! I will check this thread here often and try to give fast feedback if you're going in a totally unwanted direction. Please feel free to post comps before they are completed if you want feedback before expending too much work on this.

Our websites are going to be completely redesigned once the logos are created.. so you are free to do whatever feels right. The designs will "work around" the logo we choose.

More Info / Overview
OK.. Now here's the "bigger" picture of this contest. Electric Toad is the "corporate owner" of several areas of operation, which will also need their own logos and then their websites will be completely redesigned around the new logos.

NOTE: The winner of this contest will also be asked to design logos for the following websites/divisions of Electric Toad. Please do not enter this contest unless you also have ideas for these logos and will also take on this extra work. The fee will be $100 for each logo you design. For this contest here, we are only looking for ONE logo (Electric Toad Internet Solutions Inc corporate logo), but the winner will be expected to have ideas and do the rest of them with the same level of expertise.

www.ETWebHosting.com (You will design logo and then we'll do a website redesign.)
www.ETWebDesign.com (You will design logo and then we'll do a website redesign.)
We also have two other websites (domainsmarty.com and snippetmaster.com - but those will not be "branded" under the ET brand. If we like your work for the three "ET" logos, then we'll probably also ask you to do these two logos, too.)

The idea is that the ElectricToad.com website will (after the website redesign) be a professional-looking "corporate overview" site with minimal content and basically "point" visitors to the other sites where details of each service can be found. So the Electric Toad website and name is a BRAND. This Electric Toad brand must carry across to the other "ET" logos you will be designing after this contest. They all must be distinctive, yet related in some way to the main Electric Toad brand/logo. I hope that makes sense. The business cards for Electric Toad have a distinctive toad on them. See here (http://www.electrictoad.com/Image1.png) . (This isn't final - just a prototype to give you the idea. The card will have vivid colors and hopefully be very distinctive and memorable to our clients.) The logo you are designing for this contest does NOT have to contain a toad or even have any similarities to the card. In fact, we are very happy to redesign the business card around the new logo you design!

The new logos for the "ET" websites (etwebhosting & etwebdesign), that you will be expected to design AFTER this contest, don't need to keep the "A division of..." part unless they don't immediately show the connection. We only have this now because we needed some way to "tie-in" these websites with our main brand.

The purpose of explaining all this information to you is so that you have a "big picture" understanding of how all the logos should fit together, etc.. and hopefully that will help with your design process. The idea here is that the new ETWebHosting and ETWebDesign logos (to be created AFTER this contest by the contest winner) will somehow "fit" with the new Electric Toad logo so it is immediately clear that the ET Web Hosting and ET Web Design websites are services offered by Electric Toad, etc..

Contest Summary
This contest is to design the Electric Toad Internet Solutions Inc logo. The winner will be expected to have good ideas for, and be expected to also design, the ET Web Hosting and ET Web Design logos. (Additional $100 each.) If we like the work, we'll also ask you to do the snippetmaster and domainsmarty logos. Each additional logo will be worth $100.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's any more info I can provide to help.

Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm sorry for not posting sooner. :weep:

Due to an issue that came up, I have been unable to post into the forums up until now due to being out of town on emergency. Therefore, I will be extending the contest for another 2 weeks so that I can have a chance to provide reviews/feedback and then see the responses, etc.

I'll be back in town on August 22nd, so I will post then.

Thanks everyone! Sorry about that.

I like this logo quite a bit, actually. Is it possible to try and make it more "3D/stand-outish"? I don't know how better to word this.

For the web feet, maybe more of a "sucker" sort of feel to make it more obvious that they're supposed to be feet.

Hi Aaron,

I don't know what to suggest here..

1) the reddish color I definately don't like.

OK.. actually, this could go pretty well with few modifications.

2) If you could move the lightning bold a little forward so it is more obvious?

3) Can you make the toad more "inside" the hole? perhaps as if he were "reaching out" from the hole, etc... with his "arms" stretched out.

Basically, we really like this one.. but it needs to "jump out" or "stand out" a bit more.

My wife loves this one. lol. :D

I'm not sure what I think. My first impression is that it isn't "professional", but my second impression is that it is very memorable and certainly brandable.

It it possible to change the blue to more of a brighter metallic blue that jumps out? Vivid is the word that comes to mind.

This one is very interesting. It certainly has potential!

:D

Thanks for choosing my design! Any edits you'd like to see, and which design are you interested in?

Hi Aaron,

The design I liked is the first one you did.

No edits are necessary, as the final will be in vector so my designer can change colors fairly easily, right?

Yup. I'll send you a PM in aminute with a link to download the file. Just let me know if the file gives you any trouble, or if your designer can't work with it.

I'll send it to you as an Illustrator 8 file.
