The name of the store will be Bonne Bouchee - French for "good bite". The name originated from the elaborately decorated chocolate and cheesecake apples and hand-dipped strawberries we originally started this business with. Originally ran out of the home, the operation is moving to a retail outlet with an expanded selection of merchandise.
The merchandise sold will now also include mid to high end, artistic, unique, creative and fun products for people (men & women), home and pampered pets. The concept of the store is about everything delicious and elegant.
The store itself will be casually elegant. The primary store colors will be soft butter yellows and warm whites.
The logo will be used on everything from business cards & stationary to store signage and embroidered clothing.
Given the above, we are looking for simplistically elegant. Easy to reproduce with a minimum of fine detail that could be lost when resizing. Though "fun" was used as a descriptor of the merchandise sold, the logo should reflect the unique and elegant store concept. Lastly, we have been using stars as sort of a branding for our product. (see link below) We would like to have stars incorporated into the logo... though we are very open to additional directions. I would ask that before you get started that you take a look at the original brochure and signiture product we built the store on.
The font we purchased for the original merchandise brochure is called "Sloop - Script Three". Contact me for a copy of this font to be used exclusively for this project.

I would like a copy of the font but am wondering if you have it in mac format or pc or both?
Thanks,
Deanna

Deanna,
The font that we recently purchased was for a PC. However, we previously retained a person to do some web work for us and I believe he purchased the font for his MAC. Since we paid for it, the MAC font is ours as well. The delay will be in getting the font from him... he's not real responsive... that's why he is not longer employed by us.
Which version do you prefer?

Hi lplatz
I don't wish to throw a spanner in the works, but (usually) a purchaser isn't permitted to redistribute fonts. Please check the licence agreement that came with it - just to be on the safe side. :)

Please accept these designs as my initial ideas for your logo.
I've tried to go for simple elegance.
The "butterfly" design is 2 B's -- if you look closely.
Please advise.
Kimber.

I thought the butterfly concept was very good. I am waiting for feedback from the partner group.
I hope to provide more specific feedback in the next day or two.
Thank you for your ideas!

Hello Les,
Happy to hear you like the butterfly.
Here's another idea, for you and your partners.
My attempt to show how it may look at a smaller size may be in vain, due to resolution restrictions, but if I may assure you: The smaller size is approximately 1" high x 1.4 inches wide, and it prints very clearly on my laserprinter from the original vector file.
Please advise,
Kimber.

Cre8or, I apologize for my tardy feedback on your most recent submission, the apple with the stars. It did not capture my attention as well as your "B" butterfly idea. Since we have used stars in the past as sort of a branding for our product, I would like to see your ideas for combining the GREATNESS of the "B" butterfly with stars. I'm look forward to seeing your ideas.
best regards, Les

I had mentioned in my previous email about incorporating a star into the butterfly B. I will follow up with you later today, but we were curious what an elegant star shape would look like right about the current "B" logo (sort of where the butterfly head would be). I am going to browse some different type stars to get some ideas. In the meantime if you have a moment to play around with the butterfly and add a star that would be great to see how it would look.
I look forward to hearing back from you!

Kimber, I would like to thank you for your submissions on this project. I could easily have ended the project after your first submission as I personally was blown away the simplicity of the butterfly "B". The partners initially wanted to wait for more submissions. Since that did not materialize I am very happy to award this project to you. Excellent work! I will need to request a few modifications upon hearing back from you. We need to get the design to the company completing our awning ASAP.
As I understand it, there is a process to transfer copywrite to us. When appropriate, we'll need to complete that process as well.
Again Thank you for your submissions!

Thank you kindly, Les.
I'm thrilled that you liked my design so much. :)
I'll move this thread to the revision forum, then you may post the changes you require.
I'll PM you with the new link to your thread.

Les,
I'm not sure what may have happened.
I thought I had posted this design with the swirly stars with the butterfly, but it seems to have disappeared, so I am reposting it here.
Sorry about that.

Kimber,
I will review your latest submission (pin wheel stars) with the partner group. Based on our conversations on the butterfly "B", I expect that they will wish to go with the original design.
This is what I will need for the butterfly. Cut the Bonne Bouchee from the design, then change the color to black. I assume that you provide the art in a vector format. That is what the awning company requested.
I would also like a copy of the butterfly "B", as-is, no color change and retain the store name below the logo. Though we won't need it just yet, I expect stationary, business cards, embroidered shirts, etc... are not far behind.
After the art has been sent to us, what are your charges to make modifications... say color changes? I expect that will be the primary request.
Regarding use of the artwork in your portfolio, ABSOLUTELY! I will probably follow up with a request for a formal transfer of copywrite to us. I will get back to you with that request later. That's pretty much it for now.
Thanks again.

Just to confirm, this is the artwork you'll require immediately?
Shall I prepare it now? Or shall I wait for word from your partners?
Please advise.
As for vector art, that is the way I'll definitely provide it:
native Illustrator9 (.ai)
Illustrator EPS (.eps)
native CorelDRAW 10 (.cdr)
Thank you,
Kimber.

both 1 and 2. Please prepare both now. Design 1. is what is going to the awning company. We'll use design 2. eventually I'm sure.

Kimber... I have a modification I'd like to request. I would like to bring the left and the right wings of the butterfly to the centerline and create some overlap. We have modified the current logo by cutting it up (scissors) to create the revised butterfly idea. Do you have a fax that we could attempt to send this to so you can see what I'm describing?
I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hello Les,
I received the fax just fine. Thank you.
I think this is more what you're after, please advise.
If it is indeed what you're looking for, I'll prepare and send this new version right away.
Kimber.

Kimber... excellent turnaround and job. Could I have you also provide a separate "Bonne Bouchee" as a standalone image. Black is fine.
Thank you so much!!
Upon completing the Bonne Bouchee image, please forward all artwork to my email: lplatz [at] sbcglobal.net
Do we owe you anything for the additional work?
Best Regards,

Kimber,
Thanks again... Hopefully we're finished... but one never knows.
I'm curious why you edited my email. Are people harvesting emails through this forum?

You're welcome. :)
As for the emails...
I can't say for certain, I've just seen it.
I think it may be a safety issue for our clients -- just in case.
No need for senseless spam.
very nice shape, Kimber, lovely
