Hi all!

I’m looking for a logo for my small business. The business is for personal bath and body products. The type of products are natural and herbal in nature. The packaging ranges from clear bottles with black closures, brushed silver, and natural handmade papers in a variety of colors and textures.

Currently, the look of the labels on the packaging is translucent matte labels, double black border (thick line-thin line). My company name is in drop cap and the secondary name below is in lower case. On clear bottles I incorporated a skeleton Bo leaf. I center it below the company name. Here is a picture of one to give you an idea of what it looks like: http://handmade-paper.us/page/storecode/CTGY/skf/Offset/73/Previous_Stack_Depth/7/Previous_Stack_1/63

Here is the low down:

Company Name: Asrai Springs Body & Spirit

Because the name is hard for folks to pronounce, I don’t want a font type that is hard to read. But I also don’t want something so plain that it falls flat. I prefer that Asrai Springs be on one line and Body & Spirit be below it. Seems too long for one line. But I will welcome any ideas that come forth.

The look:

I want something that is artistic, yet simple. I’m looking for an upscale herbal feel, clean lines. Elegant. These products are sold in upscale stores, so they need a look that fits in with along those lines. You could even take an apothecary twist to it. I will say, I am also willing to deviate some from this for something more artsy and fluid. If you have an idea, let’s see it.

I prefer the crispness of black, but will be open if you want to try some color. The products that are wrapped in natural handmade papers will need to be in black only or the colors may clash. If you want to try color, then the colors need to be neutrals, i.e. tans, greens etc.

What I don’t want:
Country
Cartoonish
Anything mystical or mythical

The formats I will need to logo in .jpg, .gif and .eps

The DEADLINE: Sept. 7, 2004

Thank you.

Robin:)

PS: If you need more direction or info..let me know.

Deanna,

Thanks for the quick response. The first design with the Bo leaf is not quite the leaf look I like. The one I currently use is an actual photo of a bo leaf that I colorize to match product scent.

The second leaf design has some good bones to it. It's not quite there and I'm not sure what the design under "Body & Spirit" is. On my moniter it looks a bit like a spider? mountain range? I think it distracts the eye too much.

The third design is very cool. I find it very appealing. It needs something....but not sure what yet. I need to study it a bit longer to figure it out.

Thanks so much!

Hi Deanna,

The first set of logos almost seem too casual for the look I’m going for. The font type is pretty, but maybe too informal. The little graphic is cool and fluid but seems out of balance with the font size and style.

I like the direction of the second set, but when I look at it, it almost seems to missing the right balance also. The leaf picture on the left seems heavy to me.

Thanks so much for all your efforts so far.

Hello Bogglins! :)

Thanks for submitting your idea. I like the layout of your design as in the graphic above the text but the general feel is a little too casual...it feels like an everyday product versus a luxurious spa indulgence you are willing to spend money on. :D. I'm looking for simplicity that is more upscale. Also the color choices are not appealing to me. Perhaps change the font style and color. I like having a design element above the text but maybe something that evokes more of a calm, serene feel.

In my line of work the first thing that interests the customer is the packaging. It has to be something that a person says, " I must go an pick that up, I cannot resist the design of that beautiful logo!" Once that happens the rest is up to me to keep that customer wanting more. I can't wait to see your revisions.

Hi Amanda! :)

I like the flow of your design. Very "spa" like. I'm not sure about the colors, but then I'm coming from a very black and white world. Can you try it in more earth tones and a black one too?

I think the font below Asrai Springs needs to be something different. I also would like to see it in the same color. Oh the wording should be "Body & Spirit". I think Bath and Body is taken. :D

Bill if you are reading...do you plan to do any revisions of your entry? Please do..you started off great. :)

Thanks!

Good morning Amanda :)

I like the second revisions much better. The font choice for Asrai Springs is much better and appealing. Still am not crazy about the "body & spirit" font type, but like the left positioning the best. I like your graphic of a stream(?). My struggle with your design is if it seems too casual, but I do like your design very much.

Fabian,

Thanks for playing. :) Really like your design. It's different and eyecatching. Can you try a different type of flower, plant or something? I don't really care for the flowers that you used. I like the font choices for both Asrai Springs and Body & Spirit.

Thanks!

Hey Fabian,

Thanks for the quick fix. :) Patience is not a virtue I have...

Okay, The design is still not "it". It feels a little like a winery to me. I'll try to explain what I'm looking for more clearly, so you aren't stumbling around in the dark. I need the design to evoke a sense of serenity, calm, nature and uniqueness. While looking at other clients and designers, I found this by Jason under Potts Landscaping. http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=51357

It is fluid and artsy, yet has a serene quality to it, as well as, a uniqueness. I like that style of design. Would love if you could do another revision. :D Please?

Also, while your at it :) could you try some different fonts with Asrai? The rest are great, just want to see different Asrai's.

Thanks! Robin

Hey Fabian. :)

Thanks for the revisions. I like the top two the best. Did you spread out the the "body & spirit"? Seems like there is more spacing between the letters. I think I prefer it as it was in the previous versions you did.

Okay, about the gray smudgey thing. Nice touch, but not really the direction I wanted. It is artsy and fluid, but just not it. I really want a botanical feel to it. I liked the concept of the artwork you had before, just not that particular artwork. I need something that looks either lifelike or abstracty artsy (I just made up that term:P )

Please let me know if I can provide more direction. I wish I could just download my brain here so you can see what I want..

To anyone else wanting to play...there is still time. The deadline is Sept. 7th. If you can, will you let me know if you are working on anything?

Hi Deanna :)

Thanks for you new submissions. I don't think that is quite what I'm looking for. The font appears very stark...I can't find the right words. Maybe something a little more fancy? The leaf is still not quite right. You can try other botantical themes if you want.

Amanda,

Nice job. It looks really nice. The only thing (and I didn't make say this earlier) is that my products are for both men and women. Your design really seems very feminine. I like the style of the flower but again it is very feminine. I need the logo to be appealing to men and women. I do like the direction you are headed. Thanks!

I like the fonts you used for Asrai Springs, can I also see some different styles for the "A" and the "S"? I like the fancy script, but am curious to see other types of script.

Also, let's try "body & spirit" in lower case letters. I can't decide which direction I like the leaf best..:lol I like them both.

Thanks! :)

I'm really liking this logo alot. I also like the black and white versions too. I'm not sure the new fonts are doing it for me, can I see some more. :) Please?

The very first one, I did like the font but it is too slanted. Of the new ones I liked the one on the left-hand side (in the black & white version).

Hi Amanda. :)

Thanks for trying something new. I do like your design, but not sure if that is the look I want. Maybe it is too casual? I don't really care so much for this newest revision. I think the browns make it look to dark. It sort of reminds me of a resturant sign. I definitely appreciate all your efforts. :)

Paula,

Thanks so much for trying out different color schemes. I think your first color selection was the best. But now I know. :D

I still can't decide on the fonts...of the new ones I like the 1st one in the second column and the 2nd one in the first column. Love that "A" but not the "S", in regards to the 1st col. second one down...hmmm... also I think the font of the second line "body & spirit" needs to come up a font size. So far, you right on target with what I'm looking for.

To everyone,

If you are going enter a design, please do so. I am so excited about all this and am eager to see more designs. :)

Hi Paula,

Thanks so much for the changes...okay..the A & S font in the first one...I like the "A" but the "S" is blah...The font in the second one is what I use now. Which is probably why I like it. :D I'm still not settled on a font style..but that is not a biggie at this stage.

I've had some folks come over and give me critiques on all the designs. So far you are ahead in the polls. I did, however, get a comment that the leaf didn't look like what my products are about. I like the leaf, but was wondering if you could do some different types of leaves..in different styles?

I think I really like the black and white versions the best.

If anymore designers are planning on entering..please do. I'm excited to see all concepts. :)

Boy, you are a workhorse!

Of all the new leaf designs, I like the 2nd one best. But I think none are as good as the first one....I think my hangup is that I currently use a leaf that is realistic looking. I like the A & S font style.

I like the font..it is nice. Not sure the leaves are what I'm looking for. It almost seems like the name is in flight. Perhaps, a little to distracting to the eye. I'm also looking for am more realistic botanical element that is more stand alone then part of the company name.

Hi Tonya,

Wow! I must say I really like what you have submitted. I'm really glad you put it on a bottle..that really looks like what my products are about.

A couple of things.... the body & spirit seem a little too spread out. Can you try moving it a bit closer together? I also noticed that the "i"'s weren't dotted...I am guessing because it overlapped the Asrai Springs? It's not that I'm anal...well, okay I might be...but my "i"'s need dots...

I like your font choice for Asrai Springs, but would like to see a couple more choices, maybe try Vivaldi?

Really, really like what you submitted...Thanks!

Yes, the omission of the dots over the i's was just so I could bring "body & spirit" up closer to the name. But here it is with i's dotted (and letters closer together). I don't have Vivaldi, but I have a look-alike font. I think the A is a little difficult to read, though. What do you think? I'll try a few some other fonts and post more soon.
