(Admin code added by Palmer - 6Y9817000T)
We are a new physical therapy clinic and desperately need a logo to help with name recognition. First a little bit about our business. We are a small PT clinic (2 therapists) and our specialty is spine-care (pre & post-surgical, and non-surgical). However, we also treat all other outpatient orthopedic patients with any musculoskeletal probem (ankles, knees, shoulders, etc.)
What we want to differentiate us from our competitors is that we provide one-on-one treatment to all patients. In today's healthcare environment, many PT clinics now may have one therapist working with as many as 2-4 patients at one time. We will keep our overhead costs at a minimum in order to provide this individualized care. We have a specialized exercise program for our spine patients, which would be impossible to learn without individual attention. We have been highly successful with this program in restoring pain-free lives to many of our patients.
In the state of GA, patients must have a prescription from an MD in order to attend physical therapy. Therefore, our client base is primarily doctors who send the patients to us. This logo will be used to create business cards and prescription pads, which we provide to the doctors in order for them to send us patients. Most doctors' offices keep all of their prescription pads in one place, so of course we want something that will stand out when seen with other competing PT clinics' pads.
As far as the design, the most important aspect is "eye-catching", whether that is portrayed with color, design itself, or a unique typeface for our name. We are picturing something contemporary, but yet professional. Maybe something that protrays movement??? Maybe an athletic figure or something more specific that might include a spine, like the logo for this website as an example. [URL=http://spine-health.com] We have also envisioned our name "Spectrum Physical Therapy" possibly written vertically on a business card or prescription pad, so that it stands out?? Hopefully someone will have some good suggestions.
Colors: Maybe teal, purple, green?? Something darker that might be eye-catching with white printing, especially for a business card?
Printing info: Bleed dimensions: 1/4", safety dimensions: 1/4"
File formats: .pdf is preferable
Our printer has suggested that we have the logo created in 3 ways: 1-color design for simple copies, 2-color design for business cards, etc. and full-color design for brochures, etc. They will also need color separations for 2-color and 4-color designs.
The award for this design is $100.00 and the we will set a deadline of 9/13/04. Looking forward to seeing all of your great ideas!!! :D

Still anxiously awaiting any ideas!!! There seems to be a very limited number of medical/fitness/exercise logos on this site. Won't someone take the challenge and get the ball rolling..... I know you're out there!!! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.:wee:

To Creative ETC, thanks so much for your idea!! We were really excited to see it and like it alot. We like the spine (it looks contemporary and unique, not the "usual" spine image that we always see) and the typeface is very nice as well!
To Artemii and Shnickerdoodle, thanks for your responses. Looking forward to seeing your work also. :D

Deanna,
Thanks so much for your entry. I don't think the image with the hands is what we're looking for. It reminds me more of an "alternative medicine" or reflexology type of image. We are definitely more of a sports/orthopedics/fitness type clinic, specializing in spine-care, but with an exercise-based approach vs. manual therapy. If you have any more ideas, we'd love to see them!
Thanks, Jennifer

I would like to submit this design as my idea for your logo.
I have inluded a "Full-body" version, as well as just a torso.
Please advise,
Kimber.

Kimber...
WOW... what a different concept! I like the "athletic feel" with the figure and how you incorporated the spine. Can we see what it looks like with the figure smaller in relation to the name? Also, The "S" in Spectrum is a little fancy.... to me it doesn't match the muscular figure. And the feet on the figure look sort of like flippers. I think it would look OK if you just cut them off? Hope this feedback helps. We do kind of like the concept though. I'm wondering what the figure may look like in a profile view that would show the spine a little better? Don't know if you can do that or not.
THANKS!!!!! :D

Thank you very much for the feedback, it was very helpful.
I may not have addressed all your comments in this design, but I wanted to show you a 3/4 version of your logo. (I also lost the curly S) :)
Shown in Green & Purple -- it's a single colour design, so whichever single colour you choose it's flexible.
Please advise.

Hi Kimber,
Thanks for the revisions. We definitely like the "S" less fancy, but we also liked the whole body version better than just the torso. It just appeared to be a little large in relation to the "Spectrum" name. The profile view is interesting to see though and it does seem to make the spine more prevalent. However, we do like both versions.
Thank you, thank you!

Fabian,
Thanks for your entry...nice "professional" design, but it just doesn't grab you. If you have any other ideas though we'd love to see them!
Kimber,
Your first design is growing on us. Anyway you could make the figure look just a little less like a "body builder" ? I do like the shading of the muscles, but maybe just a little less bulky? I'm having a hard time picturing the changes that would make this what we want. Guess that's why you're the designer!;) Thanks again for your work on this.
P.S. We definitely like the whole body version vs. the torso.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Just another idea to throw out, if anyone has an interest in creating something like our name "Spectrum" with the "S" being a profile view of a spine??? Or anyother athletic figures??
Reminder: our deadline is 9/13/04.
THANKS!!!!!:)

We have decided to extend our deadline for another week in hope of getting any more entries. We like what we're seeing so far, but would love to have at least a couple more ideas to choose from! THANKS!!!! New deadline.....9/20/04.

Hello Jennifer,
It wasn't my intention to have the figure look like a body builder, I was attempting to show the inside mechanics: the spine (bones) and the muscle groupings. I have tried to "slim-down" my figure so as not to look so bulky.
I've gotten rid of the feet, as per your request. In doing that, I've also gotten rid of the hands, as having them appeared just not right.
I've also shown a couple of mockups for 1/4-page notepads.
The purple note pad attempts to show how you may end up using your logo elements in different, artistic ways.
Please advise,
Kimber.

To Eizey:
Thanks so much for your ideas. We liked the last version quite a bit, but I think we're going to choose Kimber's design. I would certainly encourage you to keep the logo in your portfolio though. I could see it being used for any other fitness business or possibly a chiropractor??? Thanks again for your work though!:)

To Kimber "Cre8or":
Congrats, we have chosen your logo design for our project!
There may be a couple of revisions to come, but we really liked the last ideas you sent, especially the full-body image on the whole page! Fantastic! I'm assuming this will automatically be moved to the "revisions" forum? If this is incorrect, let me know. Thanks so much for you great creative thinking on this project. We are really anticipating a great response from the marketing materials we'll be able to produce with your design.
Talk to you soon.

I'll move this project to the revisions forum.
Please, post your revision requests, and I'll appy them to your new logo. Once everything is to your satisfaction, please give the word, and I'll forward the files.
Thanks, again.

Hi Kimber,
One thing we'd like to see, if possible, is a couple of different variations of typefaces for our name. I found a couple on an "Adobe typefaces" website I thought might work, but feel free to offer any suggestions you like. The ones I found were "Minion Pro Condensed", "ITC Mona Lisa Std", "Kepler Std. Condensed Opticals", and "Penumbra Serif Std." Or... what about something that could be printed in reverse with a dark background and white printing??
Also ( I know you're going to love me for this) but I think we'd like to see the hands & feet back. Maybe just trim the feet a little bit?
If you have any ideas on how to make this a 2-color design... although we don't want to change the "shading" of the muscles as we like that very much, but maybe even just the name Spectrum in one color and Physical Therapy in another?? I don't know, just curious.
Thanks again!!!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Here is a first revision:
2 diferent 2-colour designs.
I also changed the font for "Spectrum" to Minion, and the font for Physical Therapy" to Penumbra.
I'll try an get another arrangement together soon.
Thank you,
Kimber.

Hi Kimber,
Thanks for the first revision. We definitely like the typefaces used. They look "strong" like the figure. I'm not so sure about the 2-colors in the figure itself, ( I know I keep going back to your original design! ) but I think I do like the two colors in the name. I think the dark purple seems to work best with the figure itself because of the shading of the muscles. Looking forward to whatever you're sending next!!! THANKS!!

Hi Jennifer.
I've made an assortment of typestyles for you to choose from.
I was trying to go for "Strong" and "Friendly".
Please advise.
Kimber.
Also, have you ever looked a word so much that it starts to "look" wrong? I had to stop a couple times because I thought "Sprectrum" was misspelt.

Hi Kimber,
Sorry for the delay in responding, but we have been looking at your latest and trying to decide on a final. We do really like some of the things you did with the name, but I think we still like the way you did the version before, with "Minion" and "Penumbra". I put together a mock-up of a business card with the figure coming in from the left and that typeface and it looks superb!
Anyhow, I think we're ready to receive the finalized files. Hopefully, the printing info. I gave at the beginning of the project makes sense to you. I think this will be a 1-color job, with the figure and name in the same color, but I definitely want to take advantage of variation in "tone" to highlight the shading of the muscles. Don't know if that comes from your end or not?
I'm also assuming that they can enlarge or reduce the figure as needed once they have the file to work with? We also want to design our prescription pads like you suggested, with a large, faded figure in the background.
I tried to call the printer to inquire about the above issues, but she won't be in until next week.Let me know if you need any additional info., otherwise we are very anxious to start the printing!!!!
Thank you again for your great design. We will certainly be putting it good use!
