Been a long long time since I posted here - but I got quite a lot of stuff that needs to be done :)

First up - Evo-Dev.com, short for Evolutionary Development [which is not necessarily important].

Evo-Dev is akin to a Software Publisher - we create various online programs [article manager, database manager, etc], and sell mostly to small-sized businesses.


We want a logo that makes us look like we are well established, successful, reliable, and above all, deliver quality. The only requirements is that it says 'Evo Dev' ... bonus marks for getting it as 'Evo-Dev' and still making it look nice!

Be as creative as you want - the idea is to use DO to also get a design built around the logo.

Deadline by Sept 5.

the logo is the initials of E-D from Evo-Dev...
i got the idea from the symbols <-> which is mostly used when scripting a PHP or C based program...

bogglins: I really like the way it looks. Perhaps some other colors - the purple/pink does'nt work for to me.

Just_G: Nice, but not what we are looking for.

Raja: I really like hte logo, but hte text feels a bit .. separate from the entire logo. Perhaps somehow make it look a bit more .. incorporated? :)

Jason: I like it, but its a bit too .. corporate really. Makes me think that the company is some law company or with a massive employment base!

RadicalSeed: I don't think that is what we are looking for :\

Raja: I really like the look, just the way the E produtes out is not working for me so well.

bogglins: Must say that looks great. I have no qualms here!

Fabian: Too simple

Artemii: I really like this one too, but I dont see how the logo fits/holds any value. Maybe you can explain? :)

I'll answer your question.
To my opinion, the logo musn't be assotiated with a specific object or word. It's possible and sometimes it looks great, but not always.
I think that such abstract, but geometrically proper logo is very effective and well-remembered, because it assotiates with YOUR COMPANY, but not with some other object or word.
That's the point!
There are plenty of examples: Nike, Adidas, Fiat, Blaupunkt, Daewoo and so on.

...and a successful logo, should also still looks good in small size, black & white version... for fax, photocopy, newsAds and/or economical printing...

...also, should be easy to remember.. just look a logo in 3-5 seconds, and then try to re-draw it roughly..
the more detail you can remember..
so it must be a memorable logo.. at least..

Oh boy - having to wipe your computer clean and then starting from scratch = not a fun job :eek:

So err - that explains my absence :)

Just to note - everything you guys have done is amazing. I was impressed by DO last time around [its been over 15 months now] but now its just dazzling.

Now onto the new ones:

Just_G: I like the E really well - the evo-dev text is not so great. Maybe something more blockish/traditional? A snazzy logo with traditional text would work imo.

Artemii: Definately good - I just could not see it fitting with evo-dev. To be honest I am racking my brain as to a site where I could end up using that, so maybe all wont be lost :)

Aaron: I like that. Not much more that I can add :)

Eagle: I dont think that kind of style fits into what I am looking. More of a catchy logo and then professional looking text to get the feel.

Right now, as I still swirl it in my mind, I see.

bogglins coming first, with Raja and Artemii nipping at the heels. Just_G and Aaaron are just inches behind [if this helps get a feel for what I am looking for]

One more week to go. I am about to post another contest up [for something completely different]. When those two logos get done, then more will be coming :)

My entry is a bit risky, i know, but what the heck ... here`s what I have deigned for You.
You have mentioned it`s possible to use the line between parts of the name. I thought : why not splitting it with the right arrow sign which symbolizes progress, as it is the direction of reading etc, as well as looking a little like a part fo the code line. I`d suggest Yo then, to use the same for your web address which could be : www.evo>dev.com. The logo is everywhere, even within the www address. Cool, isn`t it ? You could explore the idea of using the arrow for many uses ( see business cards) as it is simple, and STRONG ... !

Okay so sorry for taking so long. I had to fly into the US for some meetings, and then when I came back to Canada, my teeth decided to be a pain in my arse and Im finally done with the oral surgeries.

Now, I am very happy to say that mbleigh's logo won it out. Very nicely done.

It was a real toughie. In fact, I liked bogglin's so much also that if you contact me, we can work something out :)
