Company name: The Guru Collective

Hi all,

I require a logo for a new boutique IT consultancy I am setting up in Sydney. Ours is a small company with some very experienced people, bringing together a range of specific skill sets.

I'd like to logo to be: bold, strong, clean, tight, institutional. Perhaps something that wouldn't look out of place in 60's Russia.

I am particularly partial to the Ministry Of Sound's logo (attached).

This is a green field development, and doesn't have to tie in with any existing scheme or website.

The logo should contain either the words "The Guru Collective" or just "Guru Collective". No tagline. It needs to be distinctive, and legible at a small size (but with the view of having a 6" sign made out of it for our office reception desk)

Feel free to ignore all my suggestions! I love your work and expect great things.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Deadline - 6 October 2004 (3 weeks from today)

I went with blue to be more neutral, though my original instincts said bright red (to go with soviet propaganda)

Thanks guys, a great start.

Tonya: I really dig that C within the G. Very subtle. I don't think the crown works for me though, as a symbol of a monarchy. Maybe you could try a different element?

Bill: nice. I thought a levitating guru might be a bit cliché, but your execution is very good. Somehow though, it feels a little1980s.

Michael: that's great. I'd like to see a version in red like you mentioned, perhaps a deep / burnt red? Also maybe try a more formal font (but still chunky like that one)?

It's going to be hard to pick a winner!

Hi jhedley,

I Hope I'm not too late for this contest. The inspiration here was a modern take on the Russian constructivbism style updated for the 1930s Russian style. The logo is only 3 colors and will be very easily reproduced among all necessary printed and web collateral. I did my best to keep it simple (simple lines, shape and ultimate readablity.)

If you like the concept, but would like to see and tweaks or changes, please feel free to make any reqests in this forum.

I hope you enjoy the logo as much as I did creating it.

Thank you for this opportunity.

Take care,

-David Benton

Hi jhedley,

Commonly, clients like to have a choice between a vertical version of their logo and a horizontal verson. The vertical version is useful for signage, and other enlarged media while the horizontal verion is more appropriate for business collateral such as letterheads, business cards and envelopes.

The black and white versions tend to work very well for applications such as business checks and fax transmissions.

As I mentioned before, please don't hesitate to contact me if you feel this concepte might work well for your business.

Thanks again and best of luck choosing between the excellent entries.

-Dave
