Hi All! (Admin code added by Palmer - 005450A)
I am opening a new tanning and hair salon and am looking for an eye catching logo. I have few ideas and after looking at some of your work am excited to see what you can come up with.
As for colors, I am thinking on the bold side, such as fuschia for the title name, although am not attached to anything yet, you are the experts.
This logo will need to go from the sign on my building to business cards and T-shirts, so a logo that is catchy yet simple to reproduce. As for fonts, I am open, I have thought of block to signature and again am open to ideas.
Maybe the name will help you, the business name is ,
Holliewood Tan & Salon, Inc.
So as you can imagine (my name is Hollie !) and you have a few themes to play on, such as the obvious "Hollywood" as well as the tanning business, im thinking palm tree or lazy palm tree...& lastly the hair salon business..One or all can be incorporated or 1 or none, i'm not too sure until I see what you come up with.
The only "for sures" is all of the name needs to be in my logo and of course the "inc." part can be small...and the header can and probably should be "holliewood"
This business will be a very professional salon as well as a fun place to be, my demographics are ages 20-45, so something that says "we are professional" but "a hell of a good time!
I'm am waiting to be inspired by your ideas and look forward to giving you feedback.
I hope you have fun with this one, I think its a great name and theme for you to play with!
By the by I will not give "a deadline" however, I will add that I am anxious to get this ASAP (within a couple of weeks) so I can begin incorporating the new logo onto my business articles and will soon thereafter have another contest for web plans. SO HURRY UP!.... :D Jk
Thanks a bunch!! Hollie

Hey Sparkie... nice job...I like the block "Hollywood" style lettering and "un-even-ness" of the name and I like the color, I do want the ampersan (spelling ???) instead of the word "and"...I like the idea of the watermark, just not too sure if I want something more bold and/or different colors added to it, ex: yellow or something....does it seem toooo purpley..love it in Holliewood though....

these colors remind me a bit of M.A.S.H. , I like the first pics colors, how would it look with the "Tan & Salon" in yellow-gold??? and maybe a different style palm tree?? the watermark in color?? i like how the first pic is centered more...getting there, nice work :D

Hi Martin, I like the crooked letters, however I think I like how the first pictures are the "hollywood" style crooked letters more, and I would like the keep the "Holliewood" in that fuschia color (dark pinky/purpley) and a little less generic, maybe with some sort of palm, I will try and paste one I saw up here later and see if that works....I do like it though, thanks! Still looking for a bit more

Hey ondarox, SWEET.... I love what you have come up with, a couple of things, there is no " s " in Holliewood and I would like the ampersan (&) instead of the word "and" although I think it looks nicer with the word and might have to change it! but lets see, and also please incorporate( ,Inc.) at the end
Also, I'd like to see the purple in Holliewood a deeper more fuschia color, more vibrant and see how that looks (similar to the color sparkie did). And what would these look like on a white backround. I can picture it on business cards etc. curious to see how it would be on my building sign. I also like how the "Tan & Salon" is under the line so it is all centered. We are getting very close!
lets see how it looks with those couple of changes and anything else you come up with!

Hey sparkie, I like the parrot and the red actually, on the 2nd I like how its more centered but I don't like how its all one tonality, I do like the tropical stuff though...it's tough, I like the last few you've all done because they are a bit more dynamic....things I'd like to see (and some you've done) in the final logo.....the crooked Holliewood lettering, (i love that) in fuschia, some sort of graphic and probably centered and neat. I like all the different styles you've come up with, I'd like to see some more, we are on the right track...thanks so much!! I will keep checking !! :P

thanks sparkie and palmer...i liked your latest designs but I think they are a little TOO tropical now and girly, even though I am a girly!!! :lol2: but i love to see your new thoughts so keep them coming and maybe tone down the graphics a bit, I want them to be more of an accent than the whole logo. Maybe this will help, my favorites so far are the first one that you (sparkie) did and the two ondarox did...what i liked about the first one was the color in "holliewood" and the simplicity of it, yet it had something, what I didnt like was the one tone, maybe the lettering could be a different color.
what i liked about ondarox was the impression it made when i first saw it, bold, centered, straight to the point, eye catching...what i am not sure about is what will it look like on a white background in case i have a white background on the building...this will need to be a bldg. sign as well as all my logo-wear and print work. I guess I am looking for something very eye-catching, different yet neat and simple ?????????????? ;)
i am hooked on the block lettering......i liked the sun (ondarox) i liked the parrot (sparkie) i liked the palm (sparkie)(&ondarox)...i am thinking i will end up going with a sun or palm, but am very much still open to see some ideas i have not even thought of yet..someone mentioned the "hollywood" spotlights?!
by the way what i liked about ondarox's sun was that it was "wild" not a cartoony graphic looking sun...hope this helps
and just for fun and inspiration i have uploaded a picture of a true "hollywood star" i met yesterday!!!
"everybody loves her!!"
i am the one on the right!!

WOW! this is getting tough!! these last few entries really impressed me...Ondarox your latest entry I like, can I see what it would look like without the palm and the sun kind of coming out of the letters like it did on the first entry with the sun, and using the font on "tan & salon, Inc." that you used on the first one too.
Elkootcho, I like your design the way it is, except for its "Tan" not "tanning" (even though that makes more sense!) It gives me more to think about, I like the designs, just not sure yet if it looks like more of a movie rental type place logo than a salon..???? but i like it.,
Chelle, I think your entry with the different style lettering is nice and the colors too..originally I had thought of script, but then thought I would play off of the hollywood crooked lettering and liked the way that looked..i do think "holliewood' is a little tough to see, maybe different colors??
and finally Pram, this is a whole new look from where I was going..but its beautiful, I like the coloring and the graphic and fonts, it looks classy...I wanted more bold colors for my sign to be able to jump out at you while driving....but after seeing this ;) ?!?!?....although i like the font you used and the 2 toned colors can we see what it would look like with the hollywood block crooked lettering and maybe still 2 toned and play around with different colors...and add ',inc. ' but i do like it the way it stands...just need to see if we'd lose the effect with the different lettering and colors,,,maybe, maybe not!.....everybody is doing sooo great!!! this will be one hard decision.
by the way, i really like how you are all in the last few entries keeping everything 'centered'...go with that
I will be taking entries for about a total of 1-2 weeks I am going out of town on business on the 17th for a week VEGAS BABY!...and will be making my choice as soon as I return....Keep them coming even though its making this decision really tough!!!
:D
sure, i will work on some variations
incidentally, there really is no need to use the "Inc" on your logo - almost every company or corporate entity is incorporated for legal purposes, but it is not necessary to use it in your Trade Mark. Most likely, you will want to incorporate a "TM" and apply to have your mark "registered" so you can replace the "TM" with an "®"
It might make you feel better to think about many of the international companies that do not use "Inc" on their logo: Blockbuster, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Earthlink, IBM, Macintosh etc
Please understand, I am not saying I will not place an "Inc", just that perhaps you may reconsider what might be the most appropriate.
mmm...Vegas!

I'll put my money for DO on the roullette table... 1 red, comes up every time! :D ...incidently, I have told several colleagues and alike(presently, I am an educator for a major beauty product manufacturer until my salon opens) about Design Outpost and the talent that designs for it, 2 of them are soon to post contests, one is for a golf product company logo(totally unrelated to my field...but who cares!) I travel a lot and am spreading the word folks!! :P

That is correct. From what I saw in your portfolio last night though, you would need to have logo examples before you would be considered. Your art is awesome and gorgeous. Unfortunately we do not have art contests here. :(
So to not disrupt this contest holders thread. I would ask that you continue this by private message or email if needed.
Thanks, and welcome to Design Outpost :)
Heres my first go at it
