Hi Designers,

this is my third contest, i've been very happy with past results so i'm back for more, this time is product catalog.

Price - $200

the catalog is for our new fall products, for more details on products lines please visit our site

i'd like to have on first page(11"x17") front cover and back cover(when fold in half), on the back cover includes a address box

second page, product listings & description, either 3-4 items on horizontal or 6 items in 2x3 column in each half page,

please advise if this is possible, that i like to add more pages just by replace the pictures and descriptions on second page

deliverable format - photoshop and/or illustrator(eps) file

deadline - possible to have it by end of the month? or sooner the better

color & theme - not too dark not too bright just fall color, description page in white background

i will upload logo and some other products

that shouldnt be a problem. i think a pdf or or indesign/quark file would be better for delivery, but if you insist i can do it in photoshop or indesign.

all i need from you is all the products that you want in the catalog, along with their descriptions, and pics. also any head lines that you want to say.

Do you have either Illustrator or Photoshop? If so, you should be able to "add more pages" in the manner you're describing. Personally, if I must do page layout in one of those formats, I'd prefer to do it in Illustrator.

And another question:
Do you products specifically cater to dogs, or do you cater to cats, as well? I visited the site, and it seemed to me that it was mostly for dogs, but I'm sure the beds could be for either species.

I only ask, because I have a most excellent photograph to use, possibly for the cover, except it features a cat in an autumn setting.
Please advise.

it's for both dogs and cats, specially on beds we have many happy customers buy it for their cats too, if your photograph have both dogs and cats that will be great
i'm open to all designs and themes

about the program, i'm asking in .psd/.eps file because i only have the two programs to edit them to add more pages. illustrator will do fine

Hi Chris,
I decided to go with just an Autumn theme.
Oranges, golds, browns, etc... with some changing leaves for the cover.
I was going for a "fun-fall-fashion-catalogue" type look.

Right now, all the text reads:
"V-neck Shirt
Design No. PZC0006-01
100% Cotton Span, with little accessory
Colors: Red, Blue
Sizes: S, M, L, XL"

If this design is chosen, I can easliy edit the product listings to be the correct wording.

Technical stuff
As it stands, right now, this design accomodates a 1/8" bleed all around the 11 x 17 finished trim size. Therefore, to have the colour run right to the edge, it will have to be printed on a larger sheet-size, say: 12 x 18 then trimmed down to 11 x 17. If you were planning on just running it on 11 x 17 with no bleed, I can adjust the artwork to accomodate that, although it will have a white margin all around the outside.


Please advise.

i forgot to mention about the size, because of the budget i decided to print it overseas which they use metric system, the size will be A3 and folded into A4. can you make it to fit in that size without bleed?

in the text i forgot to add the price such as: "Retail Price: $ 19.99"

Hi Chris!
Here's the newly formatted brochure.

• The address has been added to the back panel
• The business name, toll free number and fax number are on the inside pages
• The Generic Text: "Retail Price: $ 19.99" has been added to all the products.
• The whole shebang has been formatted form 11x17 to A4 (Whew... I'm not used to working in metric) :)
• There are no bleeds, hence the 1/4" margin around the outer edge, to accommodate for any "edge-erase" or gripper.

The a4 page-size ENDs at the white margin. The dark grey background was just to give reference to the page-size.

Just one thing... Do you want me to edit the generic text to read correctly (for each item) or do you plan on doing that yourself in Illustrator?

Also: I have Illustrator 9 for PC. Will that work for you?

i will edit the text, illustrator 9 would do fine

couple of points that printer mentioned,
they want:

"EDIT -> Select=>Stray Point" to be checked

want in EPS file, when saving save to 6.0,
"include Document Thumbnail" to be checked

hope this is not too complicated
