Dear All (Admin code added by Palmer - 902060Y)

I am hoping that designoutpost can solve my companies problem of getting a logo and am offering a $150 prize in return for this.

TC4FM (Technology Consulting For Finanical Markets) is a small IT consultancy based in London serving the financial community (more specifically investment banking). We specialise in sales, trading, portfolio management systems and undertake project management, business analsysis and design tasks for such systems. Our experience spans equities, derivatives and fixed income product lines. We've been operating for about 13 years.

Typical clients include; Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suiss First Boston and a multitude of other blue chips. We've undertaken work in at client offices in London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

I want to be able to use the logo for business cards, letterheads and website so it has to be scalable and the colours have to work on hard copy and on screen.

Not sure what else to say - let me know if you need more information.

Regards

Neil Thewlis (UK)

In terms of a deadline I don't have a hard deadline but let's say I'd like to choose a design a month from now, so lets say Friday 6th June.

In terms of the entrants so far;

1) ondarox (DO Design Team) (3 entries already - wow)

First set of designs (2 of them)

I think this has given me some thoughts on colours - I'm thinking that either;

(i) A slightly darker blue (Royal Blue) maybe combined with white and black or
(ii) Red (say wine colour) combined with balck, white and/or grey

I want to make it quite bold but it has to be reasonably conservative and not too gimicky so your first design may fit with different colours. Use of shading within font or geometric designs/sahpes as background may also work - not sure what you think. I think the second design 'bulls head' bit doesn't really work for what I want.

Second design (the one with the balck background and the 'bull' type thing in the top left

I really like the boldness of this design but the bull graphic in the top left I'd like to lose. The men at each end of the logo is a nice idea but I am not sure about it. Yes the company is about communicating between business and technology but I feel it may detract a bit - I'd like to see it without to get an idea.

I really like the font combination below the logo I want to keep that - excellent.

I'd like to explore this logo a bit further - maybe rather than the stick men I'd like the logo to be on top of a graph as a background (just the logo not the text underneath) - say faint white grid and a spiky line (i.e. showing a bond or stock price) - this would give a kind of financial markets feel.

Third design

Doesn't really make much of a statement - not keen on this - sorry.

2) Effect Mood design

Not sure these really jump out at me - the use of a graphic at the front of the text doesn't really add anything I feel. The font used on the last design might work.

Keep them coming.

the middle logo is what i recommend; it has a classic type treatment which is visually associated with finances...the text below is modern and somewhat tech looking

Dear All

Sorry I've been out the loop for a while - got stuck in France with an Air Traffic Controller's strike....

Re: the designs

In general I have decided to extend the contest until the end of June - there are few promising designs but I am not quite there.

ondarox - latest design

Like this one quite a bit - would like to see 3 small variations on this theme;
1) Need to correct the typo - it's "consulting" not consultants.
2) Don't think the turqoise frame works - interested to see what it looks like with a very thin line around it rather than solid frame.
3) The turqoise colour looks great printed out say for business cards but is quite garish online - I need to keep one copy of the design as it is for the business cards, and another with the turqoise shade changed to be more a mid blue for use on a web page.
4) Last variation would be to see the design reversed colour wise - so the background is white and the writing black (hexagons remain as is) - the reason for this is is that I think the letterheads may work better that way round.

wwwzone

The designs don't really leap out at me - I think somehow the logo itself and particularly the 4 need to be a bit less prominent, and the text of the company has to not take a complete backseat in terms of emphasis.

In general - and this goes for all the idea of the black, grey, red and white colour scheme is I think not a great idea. Blues, blacks etc. I think may be better but I am open to ideas.

elkootcho

thanks for the 4 variations - not sure these will work in all three environments - web, business card and letterhead. I think the 4 ends up reminding me of a TV channel - guess I should have thought ahead with respect to the company name in the first place. Think the design needs a re think with respect to the 4.

i design

the 4 is again a problem - far too big and prominent. Needs to have the full company name somewhere in the design

same concept different colors ... green has more of a financial feeling associated with it. At least in the US because our money is green ... not sure if that follows suit over seas.

This logo is very clean, utilising a limited number of colors. It is also symbolic for success in financial markets, with the graph and swish,

Any feedback highly appreciated,

Well, here goes my entries:

Two ideas:

The idea from the left is more classic in the graphic resolution. I used small caps (is that right?) that gives the logo more expression, and turns it more dynamic using the italic variable.

In the second one, i try to ilustrate a kind of mathematical formula using the f letter and playing around with the other initials. I guess you use a lot of that in the consulting work (maths), it keeps the logo much more interesting and a bit more technique, and generates a much more dynamic layout.

Both ideas have some color variations for u to choose.

Hope you like my work

Eduardo

PD: sorry, mi english is not the best around, so my writting sometimes gets very limited!

Dear All

Thanks very much for all you efforts over the last few weeks. There were some especially good late entrants but in the end I have decided to declare the winner ondarox - the hexagonal design with the very modern font works for my company image. I am hoping that the two differently coloured designs will allow me total flexibility for web page design, business cards and letterheads.

Ondarox

Thanks for the great designs. Could I ask for a couple of small alterations.

1) As I mentioned previously I want to use both coloured designs so can I have the original design (TC4FM7.gif) with the turqoise hexagons, frame and black background corrected so it says "consulting" not consultants.
2) Could you let me know what kind of fonts you used in the design as I would like use them in our website.
3) Is there any chance of one last colour variation - I intend to use a corrected TC4FM7.gif design for business cards, the white background design for letterheads (TC4FM8.gif) but I am not sure about using TC4FM7.gif for the web as the turqoise is a bit severe. Could I have a third colour variation with a slighty less turqoise shade on the hexagons?
