View Full Version : A question to Template designers :)

First I would just like to say I think this is an awesome format for project managers to work with graphic designers. I'll be posting my first project today and if this works out (as I hope it will) I'll be posting all of my future projects here.

A little about me:
I am a web marketer first (seo) and as a means to an end, I often do minor web site dev. (for small projects, mostly out of necessity), act as a project manager (for larger projects) and least of all I may do some minor graphics stuff but I prefer to leave that to those with the real talent such as you guys & gals:)

I actually stumbled upon this site last week while searching for a graphic artist with experience designing postnuke templates. Not seeing any info here related to the topic I was searching, I moved on without book marking this site. What a mistake, I have spent the last 3 days trying to find DO again. Finally found it on google using the search term "Graphic Design Contest" after using about a 100 other search terms. BTW- If anyone at Do is interested I would be happy to offer a few SEO tips or tactics that may help.

Anyway, here is my dilemma:
Not knowing if there are any graphic designers here with postnuke experience (particulary w/ Autotheme) I am not sure how to post my first project.

I would prefer to post this as a web site template project but the designer would have to know the Autotheme format to make the template work.

My second option would be to post it as a header project where I would need just the header designed (which would need to be animated and probably using flash).

Any advice as to how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated as the dev of this site is nearly complete and we are in a crisis mode for some lipstick (graphics). The client is getting very anxious to get this done.

FYI- I tried working with a few so called graphic designers (Theme Designers) in the postnuke world but after dragging me out for several weeks they failed to produce any results. Most finally admited they didn't have time for the project at any expense.

If you are still reading all of this thanks:)
I look forward to your comments and direction.

Cheers,
Doug

Hey, Doug!

Welcome to DO :)

Personally, I don't know anything about PostNuke templates, but I'll try to get some template designers here so that they can answer your question.

And, with your permission, I'll change the thread title so that it's more descriptive.

Cheers ;)

Hi, and welcome to DO,

Our template designers have created designs to skin many types of CMS's - not certian that PostNuke has been one of them, but we have done a good deal of OSCommerce, which appears to have a similar layout (header, side navs and footer).

I Googled around for some PostNuke themes to better get an idea of what is required, and so long as you can provide specs for the size of the header area, and any other element that needs special attention, I am sure that we can help you out in the Templates forum.

However, not all of the template designers are savvy at FLASH, so if you are after a top header that has FLASH in it, you may be better off starting there - you can run a contest in the Elements forum, and then after you are satisfied there, you can run a contest for the template designers to match up to that header.

Hope that helps a little :)

I have posted the project (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5997)

Can someone round up the flash gang and invite them to view the project.

I tried but apparently everyone has their IM/PM shut off.

I really need some people to start on this asap.

That is a bug with this forum, the designers all have their private messaging enabled. If you close all your windows, shut down the compute for 5 minutes and then restart, it should be fixed. You can then invite the designers that are skilled in Flash. I'll also post a message in the designers forum, letting them know about your project.

We will be upgrading the forum soon and that bug will be gone.
