Hi-

We need a brochure designed for our doggie daycamp and boarding business.

It needs to be 8.5 x 11, full color on both sides, trifold brochure. We might be getting these printed at VistaPrint, but would also like to print them on our own printer, an HP 3500. So full bleed is possible if it also looks decent without, if that makes sense.

I am attaching the logo file in jpg -- other formats available.
I also have a bunch of photos that can be used but have to figure out how to upload them. (Edited - I put a zip file with 10 photographs on our website at: www.wagsdaycamp.com/wagsbrochure.zip)

Back center panel should be a mailer.

I am enclosing the text below. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with!

Thanks,
Kathleen

An Innovative Approach to Dog Care

At Wags, all animal guests are VIPs (Very Important Pets). Your dog’s comfort and safety is our top priority. We’ve designed our Daycamp and Boarding facility to provide your dog with all the exercise, attention and fun he or she requires.
Inside our spacious 4200 square foot facility, dogs can enjoy a great work out at “The Gym” where they can play endless games of fetch with a ball, chase each other around, and bond with a group of other friendly, happy dogs. We even have a special impact-absorbing rubber floor so that playtime is less stressful on your dog’s muscles and joints.
Between rousing sessions of play and games in the Gym, our guests can spend time in “The Lounge” where they can enjoy rest and quiet time on fluffy beds and couches, or snuggle with their favorite toys and other doggie friends.
Because comfort is a main concern, all rooms at Wags are fully air-conditioned and heated.
We also provide your dogs with plenty of fresh air. We have more than 2000 square feet of securely fenced-in recreation space outside where your dog can run, play or bask in the sun.

Doggie Daycamp

Our doggie daycamp offers a safe environment for your dog to spend the day with lots of positive interaction with humans and other dogs. Wags daycampers spend the day running, playing, napping and socializing in supervised playgroups organized by size and temperament. At the end of the day, Wags dogs go home tired, happy, well-exercised and ready for a quiet evening at home.
Daycamp might be the perfect solution for your dog if..
• You work long hours and feel that your dog is bored and lonely when home alone.
• You want your dog to learn and practice appropriate social behavior with other dogs
• You occasionally go out of town for a long day during the week or on weekends, and don’t want to leave your dog alone for such a long period.
• Your dog’s health and behavior would benefit from the exercise and fun a day at Wags would provide.

Wherever you are, seeing your best friend is only a click away. We’ve set up internet webcams so that you can check in and watch your dog playing with his doggie friends and our camp counselors.

HOURS
Mon-Fri 7am to 7pm; Sat and Sun 9am-8pm

Boarding

We know your dog misses you when you’re away so we’ve made our facility as close to home for your dog as possible. Boarding dogs spend the night on couches and doggie beds in our playroom, not in kennel runs or cages. Our facility is staffed 24 hours a day by caring professionals. Wags’ home-like environment is much less stressful on most dogs than traditional kennel boarding.
For dogs with special needs, we will gladly provide treatments prescribed by your veterinarian. For dogs who prefer their own space, and for puppies who are working on their housebreaking skills, crates are available upon request.

DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
We have convenient hours for drop-off and pickup seven days per week. Evening pickups as well as Saturday and Sundays are available.

Training

Wags offers group training classes taught by Abby Hill of The Exceptional Pet, LLC. Sessions include basic obedience, advanced obedience, and special offerings from time to time of clicker training, agility training, new baby/pregnancy class, and a fun “tricks” class. Contact us or check our website for upcoming class schedules.

Requirements

To ensure the safety of all of our campers, any new dogs must first come to Wags for an evaluation interview before they can attend either daycamp or overnight camp for the first time.

In addition, all dogs must:
• Be over 4 months of age.
• Be spayed or neutered if over 7 months of age.
• Be current on their DHLPP, rabies, and bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines.
• Be on an effective flea and tick control program, and be free of internal parasites (fecal exam required).
• Be non-aggressive with other dogs and willing to share toys, space and attention.

Enroll Today!

To get your dog started at Wags, please call us at (203) 744-WAGS or email ‘thepoop@wagsdaycamp.com’ to schedule an evaluation interview.

Once your dog has been enrolled at Wags, he or she can start attending as often as needed!

Nice to see you again Kathleen :)

I've reduced the size of the logo above, this just saves on any unnecessary scrolling ;)

If you could provide me with the vector files of the logo (.eps or .ai) I will post these in the designers hangout for them to download as these files will be the preferred format for the designers to work with.

Just send them along to michael[at]designoutpost.com

Take care.

Hi Aaron-

I'm hoping for within a week if that's not unreasonable. So... 12/9-ish?

Thanks,
Kathleen

Hi Marcus-
Thanks for your entry! I never even thought of doing the inside vertically like that.

I look forward to seeing other entries in this contest for comparison. If we did end up pursuing yours there are a couple things that would need to be changed - namely the cover would need something else to inspire someone to pick up the brochure, and I think it opens backwards? I like the way you did the cutouts of the dogs, it looks nice and funky :) But I wonder if showing more of the environment, dogs playing etc would more effectively promote the business.

I've got the general idea of yours though and don't want to make anyone spend a lot of time on changes until we have a clearer idea which way we're going.

Thanks and I'll post more as other entries come in.

Did you have an idea of something eye catching for the cover? I would like to explore this concept a bit more and possibly even posting another if time permits.

I just added another $50 to the project, so the prize is now $225.

I was hoping to get a few more choices, so I am extending the deadline. No specific deadline, but we really need to get these to the printer as soon as we can.

Thank you!
Kathleen

Aaron-
I like using the "multi" dog pics, but not so sure about the paw-print cutout design. Thanks for posting your revision, will get back to you with more specifics as other possibilities come in.

Hi. You may want to have the description edited from $175 to $225 to attract more designers who only browse the Miscellaneous Projects forum. Just a suggestion. ;)

Hey Kathleen,

Sorry for the delay.

I actually just moved from Fairfield, CT after living there for 3 plus years. I have a pretty good idea how your clients must be from that area and tried to pass that along in my attempt at your brochure. I got the feeling from your description that you have a wonderful place for dogs, almost like a dog spa. I hope I portrayed your company well. I will post the full view of the inside and outside in separate posts. Please let me know if you think I am on the right track, and if you would like and changes.

Regards,
Jayson

As promised, here's my layout. The direction that I decided to take with your brochure is really quite simple: clean. Having used boarding services several times in the past I'm well aware of the importance of a good first impression for any sort of pet care service.

Here's the cover/mailing panel/intro page page.

The previous blue was designed to go along with your website colors and works very well in my opinion. It helps give your logo a bit more "pop".

Here's a another color option that mimics the red in your logo. A more dramatic look.

Wow! I just signed in to post how sad I was that we hadn't gotten any more entries, and here they all are. I guess my email notification thing isn't working. These look awesome! Will review them in detail today and post later. Thanks so much!

Thank you Aaron, Jayson and ElKootcho for your work on this. We've looked over all three of the concepts and we think that El Kootcho's "blue" design will work best for us so we'd like to declare him the winner. I want to particularly thank Aaron for doing all those changes; we really liked the one with the "doghouse" photo shape and it was a tough decision.

ElKootcho- thank you! We have some changes that we would like to see on the brochure.

1) While we love the photos that you used, it doesn't really represent our business (we have no grass areas, etc). We would like you swap out the photos as follows:

-Front cover: please use a cropped version of either http://www.wagsdaycamp.com/DSC00004.JPG
or http://www.wagsdaycamp.com/DSC00042.JPG (could we see a version of each since the cover is so important?)

-On the "About Wags" panel: Please use a cropped version of http://www.wagsdaycamp.com/3702500-R1-035-16.jpg

-Below the "Doggie Daycamp" text, replace that cute dacshund with a cropped http://www.wagsdaycamp.com/DSC00021.JPG

2) We decided we don't like our tagline "An Innovative Approach to Dog Care" on the front panel. Can you replace it with "A True Doggie Daycamp and Cage-Free Boarding Experience"?

3) Would you be able to add our address, phone number, website address somewhere on the front cover? I was thinking at the very bottom of the brochure in another blue stripe, but whatever you think.

I think those are our only changes until we can see a higher resolution version to proofread. Oops, I can see one thing even in low resolution:

4) On the "doggie daycamp" section, the sentence in the last bullet point that starts "Whereever you are, seeing your best friend..." should not be part of that bullet item, but down with the next sentence about Internet webscams.

Thanks so much, we're very excited with what you've come up with!!

And the second cover image you suggested. Once you decide on one I'll send the hi-rez so you can really take a good look at copy, etc.

Hi Mike-

Thanks for swapping out the pictures, we're very happy with how it looks now :) We actually like the second version of the cover, the one with all three dogs in the pool. We think that represents our business better than just the head shot of the lab.

And we've decided we need to change that tagline on the cover yet again to just "A True Doggie Daycamp Experience"

If you could send us a higher-resolution version for proofreading purposes that would be wonderful.

Thanks!
Kathleen
