If anyone is looking for hosting for a website, I suggest you check out this 3-day deal. I benefit nothing from telling you this...other than pointing you towards a badass deal for hosting and at dirty cheap prices for the server specs you get.
I HIGHLY recommend checking this out. Hostrocket has been my site host for almost a year now and I have had virtually no problems, and have insane upload and download speeds.

Well free hosting, then there is 1000MB and 50GB of transfer with state of the art equipment.
I think there are probably many people here who could possibly benefit from this plan...ie, why I posted about it.
I have used approx 5-6 different hosts for my site, and Hostrocket is by far the best.

That is very very cheap - but do they limit server resources? I can't imaging they'd be all that happy if you stuck on a huge forum. I'd assume they're over selling.
Even if each of their servers has 80gb hard drive's, that is 80 accounts sucking down 4000gb of bandwidth per month. They would be losing out I imagine if that was the case. I think they're going for the "wow" factor, and hoping like hell no one uses up anywhere near that ammount ;) It's virtually an "unlimited" plan.
But that said, it could be a good deal, but you might as well buy a smaller/cheaper plan unless you have an insanely large site :D Most 'normal' sites are lucky to pull down any more that 1/2 a gig per month.
Host Rocket will kick you off if you use too many resources. Large forums can just about not go there at all.

Ya - all the hosting plans these days are overkill - just to lure you in.
To me - services and installed software are more useful than gobs of bandwith. Gimme a good control panel - oodles of software (PHP w/all the trimmings, Mysql, etc), some statistics tracking and that sort of thing. Allow me to edit my .htaccess and create my own FTP users. Let me get a person on the phone inside of 5 minutes after I call when there's a problem. Those type of benefits are much better - because to most people, there is no difference between 1GB transfer and 50GB transfer.

Interesting, considering I have used my allotted bandwidth of 40GB before, and they simply warned me to watch it.
They didn't kick me off.
I host a forum, and over 600MB of website material on my server at this point, and have NEVER had a problem or complaint from them...in fact it has been the best customer service experience I have ever had with a hosting company.
Like I said, I gain nothing from telling y'all this...I just think its a killer plan and for VERY cheap.

Well, Hostrockets control panel is by far the best I have dealt with so far, their phone support is limited availability, but their turn-around on trouble tickets is borderline insane.
Case in point, I asked about upgrading my account yesterday via a trouble ticket...the matter was addressed within 3 minutes; pretty **** impressive if you ask me.
Secondly, YOU control your whole site. There is no having to call them up to have them make changes, your space is yours...not semi-controlled by you, as is the case with a lot of hosts these days.

Are you running a porn site or something?! hehe... 40gb is quite an acheivement unless you're offering a popular download or something. And how big is the forum? Server resources is different to simply having "space" to store things on.
Now I can understand HR are a large company, but bandwidth needs to be bought somewhere down the line ;) And if they offer that much for $10 or whatever they are overselling no doubt about it :)
They're a solid company by the sounds of what I've seen in the past, I just wouldn't signup soley for the "big offers".

Nah, but I do host a lot of artist work on my site and do have a featured artist section of my site that sucks up bandwidth month-to-month.
Back when I ran my STP site (which was larger than their official site) I crashed my whole server by doing over 100GB of transfer in a months time. LOL!
THAT was fun...cause the pricks at CIHost deserved it.
