Hello all, my name is Clayton Evoy and I am the owner of Cityscape Security. We are a new company, and are looking for a logo that will be branded for our company. We will be using the logo on business cards, stationary, flyers, website, most likely on our vans, and well pretty much everywhere. :help:
About our company… we install, service, and monitor residential and small commercial security systems, cameras, intercoms, home theatre, structured cabling, and home automation. Our company slogan is “The home security experts!” as we are targeting residential customers mainly. We stress a friendly professional approach to our business, and we are trying to portray a “we care” type of attitude to our customers. Customer service is the base for our business platform.
As for the logo we are looking for something that is elegant but portrays a strong stable company. Our company colors are gray and burgundy, but I would be interested in any color ideas, as we have not set them in stone yet. Please keep the colors down to 2 or 3 though. We are not looking for anything to do with alarms on the logo, as we don’t want to pigeonhole ourselves. Our first idea was to incorporate a house or houses into our company name. Depth in the logo would also be interesting to see. Logos with a graphic worked into the our name and or to the right side are ones that I have liked in the past. We are also hoping to get a logo that has a clear background so that it could be placed over anything. I have been trying to look online for other company logos that stand out but I have hadn’t any luck, to be honest I don’t know where to start looking.
I have never had a logo professionally designed, so I have to apologize if I am not being clear enough. I will try and give as much feedback as possible.
If you could include an example of how the logo would be used on stationary and business cards that would help me decide on the logo as well.
The deadline will be May 28th unless someone stuns me before hand. I am also going to be away from the 19th to 25th and would love to be able to pick one before I leave, as I will not be able to give feedback during this time.
I have posted a prize of $85.00
Thank you,

Hi there, here are a couple entries. I will continue to work on more. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Your first one is kind of along the lines, a little more detail would be nice though. I would like to see depth in the logo if possible. The second one is not really what I am looking for sorry.
Thanks

Hi Clayton, here are a couple more ideas that follow more along the path of the logo you like on the website. Of course color is not set in stone. If you have any ideas of different color arrangements, I am open to suggestions. Thanks for the feedback and keep it comin'....

:) hello again
Thank you both for coming up with ideas so quickly. They are very good, I am definetly looking for depth as you both used in the latest ones. I am not sure that I like the swoosh or swirl that you both came up with though.
Thank you ondarox for giving me the example on letterhead and business card it definetly lets me get a better idea of how it will look.
Let me see if I can give you some more direction.... I like the idea of the font and style of my company name in Ondarox's logo. I would like to see the company slogan in with logo like you did Jackie...
What I think I am looking for is a strong font (maybe raised) and a image that somehow blends into the company name.... I saw one at a logo design company, but I have no way to link it to you. It had what looked like a graphic design of a house, trees, and yard directly off to the left side. I hate to give you secific ideas because I am not totally sure of what I am looking for. And you all are so talented that I don't want to restirct you.
So please feel free to send what ever you think will look good. I am open to pretty much anything. k
Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I just realized why you both had the swoosh on your logos...soryry  it was in the example that I told you I liked. sorry my mistake... what I like about that one was the house, and the overal feel.
Thanks again,

Hi Clayton, first of all, welcome to Design Outpost. Secondly, the easiest way to link to a particular logo is to right-click on the image and select properties. You will see a web address to that particular image. You then would drag the mouse over the address, right-click, copy, then right click, paste the web address into the message.
Alternatively you could just put a link to the page that the logo is on and paste that into one of your messages. Just make sure you put the http:// part like this...
http://www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic/Log...nter&HS23=Logos (http://www.coolhomepages.com/newstatic/Logos/1.html?HS22=Center&HS23=Logos)

For the linking URL, you put http:// twice. That's why it's coming up as a 404 error page for me, and the others as well, I would believe.

Hello Clayton,
Please accept this as my submission for your logo.
I've also included two business card layouts (ideas).
One is portrait, the other landscape.
Please let me know what you think.

Thanks cre8or, but unfortunately there is a company in my area called citywide that has a logo quite similar to yours.... I should have mentioned this earlier, sorry. Because he is using this image in his logo I would like to try and stay away from an obvious cityscape image. Maybe some sort of abstract cityscape might work though... B)
I really appreciate when you give me examples of how it will be used though.
Thanks again,

Wow... I had NO IDEA. Is it just the skyline that's similar, or the whole thing?
What "area" are you in? If you don't mind...
ClayEvoy
05-13-2003, 05:16 PM
No problem cre8or, I originally wanted to use a skyline but when I decided to open up in the city I live now, I realized it was used. I live around Vancouver BC Canada. One of the suburb cities called Abbotsford.
They are a fairly big local company, so I want to distance myself from them...
As far as other competitors of mine and their logos, there really isn't anything else that we have to stay away from. Thanks for you submission. I hope to see more from you as you are one of the designers that I have I have watched in past competitions.
Clayton
P.S. it was just the skyline that was similar my competitors.

Couple more ideas--I tried to mix the softness of the hand drawn imagery with the toughness of the type. It somewhat goes with your idea of customer service(personal feel) and security(tough) as a whole.

They are both good, I like the first one a bit better though.... I am going to have to ponder it for a bit... It is definelty on the right path, not sure if it is quite what I want. But you did a great job combining the different feelings I want to get fromit. Great work. Overall feel is perfect! :) Can you play around with different versions of this and maybe a little few different fonts... It is the best one so far, I wouldn't mind seeing more ideas before I make my decision though...
Thanks

Not sure if you are checking up on here again or not, but I have been thinking about your submission from earlier today. I really like your font and the way you set up "Cityscape" and "security", can you work around that and add different graphics? :D

You will have to tell him Clayton Evoy says hi next time you see him. Did you know that he is retiring this year?
Elkootcho that is a pretty nice looking logo, but I am trying to stay away from skyline or cityscape type graphics as one of my competitors is using it already. Thanks for your submission though. What I am basically looking for is the image to portray the relaxed friendly approach we have for customer service and the font to portray stability and security. I hope that makes sense. I am also thinking that a logo that is more horizontal would be better for the different applications that I have in mind.
Hope that helps out.
If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

Good Morning, here is another entry. I moved the house to the left and played with a stronger looking font. I also incorporated the logo onto a business card and letterhead. I will continue to play with fonts and the "softer" image. :)

ClayEvoy

:brow: I like where you are heading Jackie. The more solid lines of the house and tree definetly got my attention. Can you keep that the same and play around with different fonts and arrangements for Cityscape Security. Maybe having Cityscape be more prominent and security smaller under it. I like where you have our slogan!
I don't know much about different fonts, so I can't give you examples, but I do like the stronger fonts. I am not sure if I like the black outline around cityscape in this latest one though. Can we try it with some fonts that are slightly 3D? :D
Good work!
Thanks

Can you work on trying different fonts and colors for Cityscape.

Just throwing them out there as I create em...
this one is a little on the high-tech site, but more directly contemporary looking
the "knot" is supposed to be suggestive of security
colors are irrelavent at this point, i can change colors in any direction
http://www.strategybase.com/fun_logos/cityscape2.jpg
ahhh...the master of the domain - the lion ...protects and oversees the pride
did you say "pride"? why yes, at cityscape security, we take great pride in our customer service
http://www.strategybase.com/fun_logos/cityscape3.jpg
this one is modern, yet not trendy
the maroon and grey are because i believe those are color you mentioned
any colors can work - mostly
http://www.strategybase.com/fun_logos/cityscape4.jpg
and...
a slight variation

 Wow didn't expect to see that many... Ok...
Jackie,
I like it but not as much as the one you sent in before that. I how you moved the house to overlap the text though. Still not sure about what text to use with yours though. The line under on the latest one is a little to strong. Can you try changing the house and tree to a light gray and the text to a marroon or burgandy color? Might give me some more insight.
Pram,
Thanks for sending so many. I still think I like your first one the best, although the second to last one (I think) with just the text and a circle with a house in it is catching my interest too. The others I don't really think are along the lines of what I am looking for.
Can you try something for me Pram... Play around with different fonts for Cityscape on the first logo you sent in. I really like the image of the house in light gray on that one.
Thank you both,
Clayton :wee:

I pasted it to work and tried to stretch it and I liked what it looked like. can you try with the last one and maybe can you give me an example with the house and security in marroon and cityscape in gray.

Hi Jackie,
I have been thinking quite a bit about your logo design, and on the last one you had a straight horizontal line, I prefered the look of the one before with the slight curved more airbrushed look. Didn't really care for the font in the last one either, sorry.
I had and idea about the security can you shrink in so that it is the same size as the horizontal line. I am still not sure what to do with Cityscape though. Oh on another note, the slogan seems to be washed out a bit in the background can you try making it black or a darker gray. Here's an idea can you make the house, tree, security and the slogan all a medium gray. and have Cityscape in a light marroon color.
Did you get a chance to check out the fonts I mentioned to you?
Thanks a bunch.

Well everyone I am getting some really good entries so far. So good that I don't think it is going to be long before I will be able to make a decision. :D
So I am going to up the deadline to Saturday evening at 6pm PST.
I hope this gives anyone that is thinking of entering or has something in the work to enter it in time. It is going to be a hard decision and although there are three people really close I am open to new ideas.
In no particular order, the three that I am thinking about right now are:
Ondarox for your first submission --- would like to see some examples of different graphics but love the font, I am definetly leaning towards the use of a house in the logo. Could you also try and incorporate our slogan "The home security experts."
Jmberra22 for your second to last logo ( the one with the curved solid line with the complete house and tree on the left side) --- Still would like to see some examples of different text... if you could try the last comments I posted for you
Parm for your one with the "down home feel" --- maybe make the house and "security" a darker color and can they have a bit of a shadow to raise them of the page, looking for a different font for Cityscape as well something strong but not to bold if that makes any sense ... actually the last one in your last entry is good, just looking for things to pop a bit more with yours.
I was curious to see with yours what a border following around the graphic and text would look like as well. Oh and can you try and use the company slogan " The home security experts".
All three of you are getting really close...
Thanks for all of your hard work.

Pram, I didnt see your last entry when I posted my last reply. That looks really good, can you try and get it to stand out from the page a bit? I was mentioning a border following around the outside of the design... Not what it will look like... just a though. Looks good though.

Ondarox I like it... can you try something for me though. how about having Just a blue v (roof line) and having one solid burgandy(maroon) chimney halfway up the right roofline and if you could have it slightly detached from the roof. I would also like to see security and the underline have a shadow. Looks Good!!!!
Umberlgeek, it is good but not quite what I am looking for. sorry ;)
Demex... Interesting idea, but I am looking for an image that is a little more professional looking. It seemed a little cartoony to me sorry.
Thanks for the submissions

Some more expamples...
I looked at the fonts you suggested; a couple of them couldn't load on my computer, The Mexcellent looked too busy and kinda strange with the drawn house. I tried to look for more 3-D fonts, but a lot of them were really 3-D and a little crazy looking... I will continue to look for the fonts you suggested on other sites and see if they download correctly.

Jackie,
Is that "Times New Roman" in the first of the last two? I like it, maybe if we just shadow the text. I still like the house to the right side though. I just got a vision for yours. Let me see if I can explain...
Use the Times New Roman font (or the one I am refering to) and write Cityscape as I just did, and have SECURITY written smaller (inc caps)underneath and of towards the right side not quite all the way. Then have the house on the left using the same style as you did in your submission on May 14th, at 7:57am. I would love to see security in black and the same thickness as the underline. Can you also try with and without the right wall of the house.
Hope I am not asking to much. It is really getting down to the wire and I am having a hard time deciding which of yours, Ondarox and Prams' designs are most suited for my company. All of you are very talented!! Never dreamed it would be this hard to decide.
Please except my appologizes for being so anal

Parm, I am just looking for the logo to stand out a bit, I really liked the burgandy house and security of your last revision. Can you work with Cityscape a bit to try and make the whole image come together a bit more.
Great work, and thanks for putting up with me, I know I haven't been that easy.

OK Everyone,
I have made a decision, and as every contest holder says on here, it has been an agonizing one. I had an extremely hard time deciding between Pram, Ondarox, and JMberra22. All three of them I could easily use for my company logo. Basically what it has come down to is an overall feeling I get, and how the logos best fit into the different uses I have for it.
So without further delay...
The winner is Jackie (Jmberra22)
I chose her design #02 of her last submission. I'll probably ask a few minor revisions, but nothing major.
Congratulations Jackie, and thank you for all your hard work and revisions.
I have been extremely impressed with everyone on here, not only your talent is exceptional but the professionalism as well.
Thank you all! :D

As FTI said, this contest ended weeks ago. In addition to that, you are not permitted to enter any of the contests until you receive an invitation to join the Design Team.
