$225.00 reward. :help:
We are a non-profit union of Professional Firefigters of 764 Members in the Central Florida area (the County that surrounds Oralndo). We are part of the International Association of Fire Fighters. We are looking for a new web site and a new logo.
If the logo is accepted by our membership, we will negotaite with the artist a second reward so we could have the item for screen printing, embroidery, stickers, cards and letterhead.
Our current site is http://www.iaff2057.com :help:
It is primarily used by our membership to retrieve information on events, topics, meetings and announcements. It needs to be easily updated or at least have sections that can be. We currently are hosted by profirefighters.com on I.E.6 and use Front Page on Windows XP to make the updates.
Our official name is "Orange County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 2057"
We are looking for a better flowing web page, an impressive looking one. Maybe a live active calander that has links to view event information. We saw one on http://www.phcf.com
The International Union has a web site contest yearly and we would like to submit ours for consideration for winning. If we win, the artists name and information would be forwarded to all interested unions world wide and more business is possible for the winner then. Here are some of the winners and runner ups.

If you need any additional material or information please let me know.
We are looking to have all items in by June 9, so we can vote on submissions at our meeting and allow our members to choose the winner. Any additional updates will be made at that time. Again, we are non profit, and we are posting a $225.00 reward for the winner. If a logo is also submitted we will negotiate another reward if we want to use it outside of the web page.
This is our first time asking someone to design for us, if more information is needed please just let us know. B)

I think I could come up with a killer idea for this...but who knows.
Do you have a shield or badge that we can use in the design with your dept. # on it or what-not? Any pictures of your company? Or should we stick to the links your provided?

If you click on OFF DUTY then on STATION T-Shirts, those are some of the stations that have designs for unique patches already. We are the Union that they are all part of. So we make up those and other stations also.
We have nearly 760 members, so a group photo is probably out, but we have some photos on our link on our page. We can get more and I will try to get some for you.
As far as a badge, we use the official IAFF logo on their site. We just use 2057 as our #.
Hope this helped.

Is the $225 for a template, or does that also include programming of the calendar and the back-end? I assume the former, but just want to clarify.

It better just be just the template because if it isn't, it would pretty much exclude everyone but you and Peter :D

We are just looking for a logo and template that can be edited in front page. (or at least sections of it).
Any additional programing can be discussed afterwards between the winner and us.
Thanks for asking. B)

Hello,
Firstly, I'd like to announce my intention of entering you template contest.
Secondly, I visited the above link, and was inspired to create a "logo"/mascot for your site.
I understand the contest is for a template, not a logo, but if you like the direction I'm moving in, I'd like to design the template around the logo.
I... just got... inspired.
I couldn't help myself.
This is just a rough sketch -- very rough, it needs work.
Please let me know if you like it.
Thank you,
-Kimber.

Wow, that is a awesome dalmation. That would make a great station patch, or a tat. The union however needs to be a little it friendlier. The union represents firefighters, dispatchers and fire inspectors. We represent over 700 people, and the patches you refer to only show about a 1/4 of our stations, the others have no individual designs. The union is very active in community events, fund raisers and political activities. We want something professional, unique and powerful. As good as that dog looks, it may be a little too aggressive for our web page.
Kimber, that dog is awesome, and we may be able to use that for something like a shirt, or a patch design. For the web page, we need something similar to the links you will find in the beginning of our first post. The IAFF type of maltese cross look. If you would like, or with your permission, I will show that sketch around to the members and see if any of the stations that have no design yet would be interested in it, or if anyone wants to make a shirt out of it. IF ANYONE DOES, I would have them get in touch with you for details of an arrangement.
Thanks eveyone for your help and we look forward to seeing a great web page.
Just some things to remember for it, that we may not have expressed.
Its primary reason is to disperse information to our members. However ANYONE can see it, that means politicians, news media and other departments. So we need to have something unique, attractive, professional and clean.
It will be submitted for the International Union web page design contest, and credit will be given if the site makes the top list to the author and could end up getting you some more work if interested.
I am working on getting pictures of some of our crews, and events. I hope to have those over the weekend.
Thanks, stay safe.

I thought you wanted something like this, as the matchstickpress.com/firestore link lead me to believe.
I saw alot of "skeleton" firefighter mascots (a little reaper-ish), and thought that a strong, albeit "aggressive" dalmation might be the way to go.
I didn't full understand that these were station "patches". (Like flying colours I guess, eh?)
Anyway, I like him... and I'll probably work on him a little more, but that won't stop me from entering a template for your competition.

Kimber
I presented a picture of your logo to some mebers working with me yesturday. This was not the official group that would be making the vote on who and what logo and templates we use. Just a feeling of how some other people see it.
Half of them LOVED it, the other half thought it was too rough and not the "professional" logo we should have. Since it was a split, I would say GO FORWARD and work it up fully. I will gladly present it as a logo/template for the Union.
Some sugestions heard yesturday, and some were from the Union President, 1 - make the cross in the background like a IAFF Union one. Adding the lettering and style. (Its not so important to see everything as the dalmation will block some of it, just we would know what it is. 2- Take tha IAFF Logo from the arm and place it on the head of the Axe, symbolic of the SHARP and TOUGH stance the Union can and will take if needed. It would also allow the union symbol to be seen fully then. 3 - On the helmet, take away the cross and just add 2057 in bold lettering. (you can replace the logo on the arm with something else if you want, maybe a Florida outline or anything you can think would work) (I have a thought but need to research a little of it and will PM you on it) 4- Add in the wording "Orange County Professional Fire Fighters" somehow, I would sugest a few styles for the guys to vote on.
ALL OTHER ARTIST
Please keep your ideas working, Kimber did a great design, and we would like to present a few for our presentation next month and see where the votes go. Tough and Rough or Professional and Easy, who knows, so just because we are giving Kimber the feedback, does not mean we are locked in on that style.
If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
Stay safe.

Hello Mr. Firefighter!
Hope your weekend away was good.
I've been working on your template design... yet neglected the changes you requested for the logo.
Please click here (http://www.kimberart.com/templates/2057.htm) to view the template.
It has the current logo on it, with just the simple change of the number 2057 on the hat.
I've made note of the other changes you wanted, and I'll work of them ASAP.
Feedback on the template would be much appreciated, as it is not my forté.
Thanks,

Okay,
First... Here's the new logo incorporating alot of the ideas you had asked for:
IAFF logo on the axe
American Flag in the Maltese Cross
Changed tattoo on the arm
2057 (Bold) on the helmet.
"Orange County Professional Firefighters" rocker at the bottom
I'd just like to mention that making the changes to the logo does require a bit of work.
*lost train of thought*
Next... I've incorporated the new logo into the header of my website template design.

Due to an unforseen event, the meeting did not have enough time to spend on this issue. However, I will be accepting more offers or thoughts. I will show them around to some fellow firefighters and provide feedback as needed.
Look forward to seeing more and any updates. Kimber, your logo is well liked and some have asked if the Union does not choose it for the Web Site, what would you be willing to sell it for? The guys have some feedback for it if they do want to buy it, but that can be discussed further after you let us know. Just email or PM with your information.

"We have reviewed the proposed web site designs and have made these
decisions;
1) We wish to purchase the Dalmation logo design so that we can copyright
and utilized exclusively by the local and its membership.
2) We like the Header and basic color scheme as presented by Kimber and like
the three column layout (not the header or background color) as proposed by
Demex on page 5."
Kimber, anyway you can get us information on the above and the other item I talked to you in PM about. I will PM you more information to what we are looking for. We also need to change the helmet you are using as we do not use black helmets. A red one would be ideal, and probably would fit the color design. I will attempt to get a digital picture of one for you if you need it.
You all did great and this is NOT officially over yet. Once we see a revised design, I will get the 100% check from the Union and then post who will be rewarded.

Stay safe.
Question to Palmer...
Since the FireFighter Union wish to purchase the dalmation logo from Kimber seperately - does this mean we would be able to use this logo in our design layouts if Kimber is OK with this?

Since they have already stated that they will purchase her logo, I will say yes, you can use her logo for the layout.
Thanks for the confirmation Palmer. :)
Hi FireFighter,
I have made some changes to the header of my design using the fantastic logo designed by Kimber.
Changes to photos can be made if you have other photos you would prefer to use. Colours can also be changed.
Comments welcomed. : )

I'd like to rework my template design, but will be unable to do so until the weekend.
If that would be okay, I'd appreciate it.
If a decision must be made prior, I don't want to hold anything up.
Thank you,
-Kimber.

Hello Sir,
I have re-worked my template design into a 3-column layout.
You can view the new layout here. (http://www.kimberart.com/templates/2057new2.htm)
Right now, it's set up for a 600 x 800 screen size,
but the finished HTML template will have CSS enabling it to
fluidly fit different screen sizes.
I wasn't entirely sure what to place in the 3rd column, so I just placed
some sponsor advertising-type things.
Thank you for waiting.

  CONGRATS TO KOOLBRIAN
The union loves your design and we are proud to say you are the winner of our website design contest. WE will be contacting Kimber for her logo as well since it is amazing alone and works great with Brian's design.
I am making sure of a few last changes on the design Brian and will get in touch with you in PM to exchange last changes and get information you need.
Everyone worked very hard on this and we appreciate all of your hard work. We will make sure to mention this site to any other local that requests information on who designed our great new site.
Thanks for all your hard work and help. We are already talking about some logos needed for some great non-profit charities and fund raisers we are working on for the future, so I am sure you will be seeing us on here again.
Stay safe everyone and on behalf of this local we all wish you a great safe summer.
